Succulent plant

Acclimatizing succulents is key to growing succulents in places that have frost in winter. A lot of them can survive but takes a few months to start growing again. Finding the right spot is important in keeping them alive. Also, an update on my neglected backyard garden and Pedro the Budgie. FEATURED PLANTS: Echeveria, Euphorbia, Cactus.

I was just about to step outside and guess what? It's raining! Is it forecast rain today? I don't
know. Should I get an umbrella or I can't hold my coffee umbrella. This is actually my bad arm. It's
really sore right now so I've been taking it easy in working in the garden even though my plants
need attention. I have to look after moi first before I could do this because if I become
incapacitated they are all gonna die. Today I just watch a young man marrying an alpaca.
Anyway these plants here I haven't looked at this area nor have I watered this. Look at that. That's
so slow growing that Victorinox variegated. Such a slow growing plant and Echeveria pretty in pink
or Echeveria marpin I think that's what it's called. And that looks very similar to my
cultivar that is called Rosal in here. My Rosal is still so much more bigger. This is actually
grown from leaves of an Echeveria Monroe. It looks like pretty in pink or marpin but
the size is, look at that, it's quite big even though it's dry that needs to be watered. I need
to clean it up tonight to well remember to clean it up and also all my Freelies here this year the
Freelies are not doing very well in this section because Freelies loves the sun they love the sun
so I decided to bring a couple out in the front and slowly introduce them to the sunlight and
even one I've cut off here my Paul Bunyan look chopped off and there's still another
Paul Bunyan there that needs to be chopped off hang on so I'm just gonna chop chop chop because
it's all like dry there that's dead so and hang on I'll just cut this off okay ah you can see
the roots growing that means it's telling me I don't want to be here anymore I want to have a
life apart from this life that you've given me which is all wrinkly and dried up I want to have
start a new life somewhere else so dramatic anyway I'll put this I'll show you where the
other one is now this is my other Paul Bunyan look it's growing bumps I only chopped you off
like a couple of weeks ago didn't I so now this one it didn't have bumps before and now the bumps
look oh now so the size okay I can't my wasabi have to move you sorry wasabi this one on the
left I stuck in there two weeks ago and was almost the same size actually it looks worse than this
one because it's got more wrinkly leaves than this one this one looks better that's why I did
not even notice it now it's dried up so you can see the leaves all wrinkled now all I did is
just put a hole into the soil even this one I just planted that a couple of days ago I think
never mind because okay I go like this even though I just freshly cut that because the soil is fairly
dry ish now it's going to get wet but anyway so now this one now on the left is smaller than that
one on the right both of them now they're going to start growing and then in future videos we're
going to compare and see what happens and anyway it's starting to rain but I'm going to show you
what am I going to show you I was just going to cruise around and show you the different progress
oh my string of hearts the variegated one I took it out here because it was being affected by this
is actually the good one was growing at the back no mealybug the other one yeah oh the rain's
getting heavier got affected by mealybug so I sprayed it with my methyl spray so you can see
some remnants of mealybug there and I put it out here so look there's still like leftover but no
more mealybug they're all moved on and I put it out here in the shade it's sort of open but my
camera's wet I have to go inside sorry okay I got my brolly back so I'm gonna walk in the rain again
so this area now can I do a much to do about a lot of things video this is like let's talk about
lots of stuff I'm slowly cleaning this up so and if some of you think you're not cleaning
it up fast enough well sorry I've got excuses so and now I can see again or I can walk again
through here and also I can see my plants it's all dead that one is sedum robertingtum that's
dead ones you can see some remnants of it that hasn't been watered for a long time that one is
cool view and the hercules look how beautiful the hercules are gorgeous look at that they got
beautiful red tips especially this one see look how beautiful that is isn't it so when there's
stress and this one here what are you gusto and uh something this is the one with the long name
that I can't seem to remember uh bite the comb something okay here's a tomb sedum here's a tomb
variety bite the comb fast growing plant and look at all of them the state of my plants here
but over here the bamboo has taken over and my begonia is also flowering that's an orange
begonia so I need to remove this bamboo I just hope it doesn't go to the neighbors because that
would be disastrous but I am clearing out this bamboo all this bamboo is going to be gone
but I can't do it all in one go I have to do it slowly and also repurpose all those bamboo
so which means this is a major job clearing this all out removing all those pots I have to do it
slowly or else I'm going to injure myself more and hello Mr. Owl you have fallen off and then
I straighten you up you need to be redone again you're hanging off on one leg it's a slowly
taking shape all I need to do is remove all that bits and pieces that's there on the ground
and put my fake grass there well first of all I have to poison all of this grass and then put the
fake grass or something process it first so it's a lot of work but anyway look I got some bamboos
that I chop chop chop and that's habi's um lead sheets of lead that we use for making sinkers for
fishing so we do make everything and that's a problem so anyway this one now because I put some
of my cactus or cacti that's over there in that sort of semi-shaded area and I put them here
transfer them here and I don't want them to burn so I just installed this uh lace curtain for now
hang on oh my goodness so I got a few cactus there so if I just dump it there straight away
without look my penis cactus hello dicky now dicky cactus uh now dick the short for Richard
dick never mind anyway so I can't even see so if I just put it in there that would get burned easily
so I slowly acclimatize them so I put a lace curtain for that one and slowly I'm gonna remove
it when the days like today it's actually good for removing that so they can acclimatize now on
the bottom here I put a couple of euphobias I did not bother to cover it only those two pots
that euphobia I think tetragona or polygona and then this one also the variegated one
and they're still fine and that one my ributia I put it here and I still have to work around
this area and also that oh look when I bought this I see it in the original pot and look how many
it's growing babies everywhere so that needs to be repotted into a much bigger pot oi cactus
flowering oh red flower cactus I don't have a red one yet oh my goodness you are beautiful did I
ever have you before I don't know but isn't that gorgeous so anyway that's I was gonna put them
here in these pots but now I decided that I'm gonna put them at the front I got a big open
area there that I can put them in because these are quite frost hardy so uh I don't know what
you call gymno caliceum or something like that they are so there are different forms and all of
these three I got them from Ikea before and they're just growing on peat moss and look they don't need
special cactus soil they're growing on the peat moss and that tells me that they can handle a lot
of different soil and this one's got babies look I really need to look at babies coming out everywhere
I really need to remove you and put you on a better place I have a couple of pots here this is
I think something snow angel or snow fingers or whatever you are a red angel dragonfly
pacipitum and this has been growing upstairs but it's just dry so I've taken it down and look at
what happens so when the soil is dry the plant will make water to feed its babies look it's
growing babies on that side there so it's trying to feed its babies and saying here
have a drink and that's why it will rot so they will rot when they're given too much water
and they will also rot if not given enough water this soil mix is actually my cat litter soil mix
and it can handle a lot of watering but I kept them dry now this papyrus that came from my
covered area I have to move this one to this spot here next to my swing this baccarus was growing at
the back well it was struggling out there and then I took it out this was actually half the size
of this about a month ago or six weeks ago actually to be specific and I thought it's
going to die so I thought I'll bring it out here and it can burn baby burn and it did not burn
and then it was actually growing on the opposite side there where it's sort of
part shaded and then now I put it here where it gets morning sun midday sun and shaded or filtered
afternoon sun and then now it's growing really well now compared to this one look at my hand so
look how big that is now and it should be bigger now but because of the frost we have here in
Canberra it keeps dying back and now it's growing again so this is now where I'm going to place
all my free leaves now if they're going to die they're going to die but I plan to cover this
area in winter and I'm going to make a special cage for them but that's in future videos so
anyway for now this papus rose I can't really put that there directly because it's going to
burn from the sun so I'm going to put this at the back here to slowly acclimatize it and I have to
come back to that later on and clean up or pick out those dry leaves inside that so anyway guys
that's all I've got for this video so now I'm going to go back inside and finish off my coffee
that's already probably cold this is yesterday's harvest of strawberry and blueberries that I forgot
to eat this one now I need to plant this in the garden spring onion and beetroot was going to
make some salad but then hubby decided he doesn't want some salad he wants some coleslaw it's
getting soft because it needs to be consumed or normally what I do with this is plant this in
the garden or put it some soil and then harvest it as I go so as with this leftover spring onion
and the budgie in the background is talking on top of me but doesn't matter hey baby pea come here
Pedro so this is mommy's third coffee and that is down the coast fishing this one I cooked this
last night this is Chinese New Year so this is half of look I cook half of it this is like rice
cake many happy returns rice cake I've beaten some eggs cut it in small slices and I dip it in and
then fry it this is the leftover from last night from my midnight snack what's up
what's up baby pea what's he doing baby pea ah oh hi you want some no you don't want me here
kiss mommy okay you want you want
see he's feeling better there you go
there you go baby peepee now mommy's gotta go clean up while daddy's not around
