Hey munchies, welcome to the channel.
If you're new or if you're not, I'm Alyssia
and I am stoked you're here either way.
January is a time of year when a lot of people
want to revamp eating habits because of the holidays
and focus on getting in more veggies.
If you are someone who struggles with veggies
and prefers to eat them without having to taste them
so much, there is almost no better way
to do that than smoothies.
Today I am sharing five delicious green smoothie recipes,
each one with a sneaky veggie twist,
loaded with antioxidants and micronutrients.
If you or your little ones struggle to eat your greens,
you have come to the right video.
We are starting simple with a very basic
spinach banana smoothie.
It is basic because it is the most common green
used in smoothies and that's because
you really can't taste it at all.
Combine frozen banana, Greek or dairy-free yogurt,
which is optional but will add extra creaminess,
milk of choice, I prefer soy with this smoothie,
and a handful of spinach.
Blend it up.
Spinach is a superfood for a reason.
Leafy greens like spinach are rich in antioxidants
that help to reduce chronic inflammation.
And to me, there's no reason not to pack your smoothies
with spinach because you really can't taste it
unless you're comparing the smoothie back to back,
made with or without spinach, you are not gonna know.
So why not?
Plus, banana, especially a really ripe one,
it's gonna be super sweet and delicious
and really make up most of the flavor of this smoothie.
So good.
Next up, a tropical arugula smoothie.
Arugula can be bitter and while I can sometimes enjoy it
in a spring mix or a salad, it is not my favorite green.
But it's so good for you.
So why not enjoy it in a way that tastes great?
In a blender, combine banana, frozen mango,
coconut shreds, coconut water as the liquid,
lime zest and juice, and your arugula.
Blend it on up.
Oh my gosh, this one might be my favorite of the day.
It tastes almost like a pina colada
and it's packed with calcium, potassium, folate, and more.
Yes, please.
It is a fun twist to use coconut water for the liquid,
but feel free to try coconut milk
or any other liquid that you prefer too.
Next up, a sneaky broccoli smoothie.
Okay, hear me out, it is worth a whirl.
In a blender, combine banana, frozen pineapple,
broccoli florets, apple juice as the liquid,
and Greek yogurt or dairy-free yogurt if preferred.
Blend it on up.
Sweet and satisfying.
This one doesn't taste like broccoli
and I think that's because the banana and pineapple
are strong in flavor and the apple juice
is pretty concentrated,
so there's tons of natural sweetness to distract.
One thing to note is the broccoli stalk
actually contains more fiber and less flavor,
so this smoothie could be a good way
to use up broccoli stalks
without adding too much veggie flavor.

Next up, a cucumber papaya smoothie.
Yes, yes, I know, cucumber is technically a fruit,
but it is culinarily a vegetable
and still contains some health benefits.
So in a blender, add seedless cucumber,
frozen papaya or pineapple will work
if you can't find papaya or prefer it,
frozen avocado or you could sub banana if you prefer,
but this is a great way to save avocados
that are on the way out,
water or liquid of choice, spinach, because why not?
This way we actually have some technical veggies
in here too, and optionally,
a few dates for natural sweetness.
Once again, blend it up until smooth.
This one gets really creamy because of that sweet papaya.
It's a subtle flavor, but distinct
and super fresh with the cucumber.
I like a few dates depending on how sweet the papaya is
because like all melon, it can really vary.
But the great thing about smoothies in general
is you don't really need a recipe.
You can just adjust the amount of liquid
or frozen ingredients to get your desired thickness,
and you can always sweeten to taste after if desired.
Okay, the last smoothie of the day
is a pineapple kale smoothie.
And this smoothie, I am going to be using frozen kale.
If I have kale that I am not gonna finish up,
I'll throw it in the freezer,
and then it goes right into a smoothie, easy peasy.
In a blender, combine frozen banana, frozen pineapple,
coconut butter, green tea, or your preferred liquid,
turmeric, and of course, kale.
One last time, blend it up.
Wow, this smoothie is like a nutrition bomb
between the kale and the green tea and the turmeric.
This is like a multivitamin in a cup,
but even better because it's coming right
from natural food sources.
I am not a huge kale fan,
but I think it blends right into the smoothie,
and I actually think it's even more mild
because it's frozen.
So much of the flavor from this, honestly,
is informed by the green tea,
but of course, you could use any liquid you prefer.
I hope you enjoyed these delicious,
sneaky veggie-packed smoothies.
