Now we're going to get started at the top of our page with the bottom edge of the hat.
So we start on the left side, we're going to draw a curve that goes up the middle, and
then back down on the right side.
Now we're going to round out the side of the hat.
Starting on the left side, curve out, and we're going to bring that back in.
Let's do the same thing on the right.
Going out, and then back in.
Now we're going to connect the tops with that same curve we have along the bottom.
So we'll start on the left side, going up, and then back down.
Let's add the ball of the hat over on the right side.
Starting at the top, we're going to draw in a circle.
Going around to the bottom, and then back up towards the top.
Now we're going to draw on the top of the hat.
Starting over on the left side, we start by curving up, and then in.
We go straight across, and then pull that down in behind the circle.
Now from that outside line, we're going to step down, curve in, and then down on top
of the hat brim.
Now we're going to move down and draw on the beard.
It's almost like a large circle tucked in behind the hat brim.
Starting on the left side, curve out, round out the bottom of the beard.
We're just going to pull that up and in on the right side.
Let's add the eyes on the left and right side.
So over on the left, we're going to draw in a circle.
Move all the way over towards the right side, and do the same thing.
We're going to add a smaller circle along the top of each eye for a highlight.
And then we're going to fill the bottoms of the eye in black.
Now let's move to the center and draw in the nose.
So it's a sideways oval, starting in the center, curve out towards the left, round up the nose,
and then back up towards the top.
Now let's add in the top edge of the beard.
Underneath the hat on the left side, curve around the eye, and then up towards the left
side of the nose.
Let's do the same thing on the right.
So we're going to line up to the right side of the nose, curve down around the eye, and
then up underneath the hat.
Let's add a smile over on the left side.
So out here, we're just going to curve down, and then across towards the right.
Now let's move down and draw in the sides of the body.
Over on the left side, we're going to curve out, and then down towards the bottom of the
jacket, and move over towards the right side, and do the same thing in the opposite direction.
Now let's close off the bottom.
Starting from the left, we'll curve down in the middle, and then back up on the right.
Now from the left side, we're going to step up and just draw the top edge of the trim
going across.
Now let's go back to the left side, we're going to step up again, draw that same curve
going across, and now we're going to add the sides of the buckle.
Leaving a gap in the center, we're going to go all the way over to the left side underneath
the beard, draw a straight line coming down, go to the right, and then do the same thing.
Now let's trace the buckle on the inside.
Starting from the left, we'll draw a straight line coming down, curve across towards the
right, and go straight up.
Now let's close off the top of the buckle.
Now we want to fill the sides and the center of the belt in black, and then we'll add a
seam down the center and behind the buckle.
So start underneath the beard, go straight down, we'll come down towards the bottom of
the buckle, and go all the way down towards the bottom.
Now we want to continue this line coming down towards the bottom of the feet.
Starting in the center, we'll go all the way down towards the heels.
Now let's round out the bottom of the feet.
Starting from the center, I'm going to curve down, and then up towards the left toe, go
back to the center, we'll curve down, and then back up towards the right toe.
And back on the left side, let's round out the top of the foot.
Curve up, and then bend this down, aiming towards the heel, we're going to leave a little gap
on the inside, and we'll do the same thing on the right.
Now from the outside corner of the body, we're going to step all the way in, and curve down
and in behind the foot on both sides.
Now let's move up and draw in the arms.
From the top of the body, we're going to step out, we're going to curve out, and then down.
Let's go all the way over to the right, and curve in the opposite direction.
Now I just want to pull this down and in behind the body.
Curve down and in, and do the same thing on the right side.
And then from the outside corner of the arm, we're going to step up and draw that same
curve coming in towards the body.
And then finally, we're just going to tuck the hands in underneath the cuff.
From the outside, I'm going to step in, curve down, and then up towards the inside of the
wrist, and do the same thing on the right side.
And that's pretty much it.
There we have it.
There's our cartoon Santa.
