The brown bear is a bear species usually found all across North America, Europe, and Asia.
What many people don't know is that the brown bear is also known as the grizzly bear in America.
In reality, all grizzly bears are brown bears, one of the largest living carnivores.
As a matter of fact, the only other animal that can rival grizzly bears in size is the polar bear.
The brown bear is so famous that it's also known as a national animal and also a state
animal in many countries of Europe. It's currently a least concerned species and the only bear
species that's not classified as threatened by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
There are around 180,000 to 200,000 brown bears around the world with most of their
habitats being located in the colder countries, Alaska, Russia, and Canada. It can reach a
surprising weight of around 330 to 815 pounds depending on its age and season. They are known
to be extremely speedy animals despite their size and weight and most of them are mostly loners, unlike other mammals.
Next up, we have the polar bear, one of the few animals that can be considered hypercarnivorous,
which is an animal that has a diet consisting of more than 70% meat. Their habitat is located
within the Arctic Circle, many living around the Arctic Ocean and surrounding areas.
Polar bears are really large with an adult male weighing around 350 to 700 kilograms
and a female one being about half that size. As a matter of fact, the polar bear is tied with
the Kodiak bear for the largest land carnivore in existence. Unlike the brown bear we just saw,
the polar bear has been experiencing a loss of habitat due to climate change. That's why the
polar bear is currently classified as a vulnerable species. So, which of these incredible powerful
bears do you think would win?
