A Day in the Life of a PhD Student 🌟

It's bright and early. No, it's not bright, but it is early and we're going to work, so let's go. I really love this knit. I love this color on me. I really need to leave, but we have favorite mascara, favorite BB cream, and favorite lip combo that I also put on my cheeks. Pretty. Okay. I've been working on my fall favorites series, which is going really well, and now I added some things such as these boots. I'm very happy with these. Proper chunky boot as a fall staple. I have my polka dot jacket. How cute does that look? And as a finishing touch, this backpack. How cute is that? I'm going to tell you all about the backpack later, but I am super happy with this. Headphones go on. Let's look. We're right here. Well, that was a very quick glance at Iris, but she's the one usually driving me to work. It's been so nice developing friendship with colleagues. This is something we've discussed lately, and it's just been so nice to really feel like I can be myself at the office, and we can share a bit more than just work together. Welcome to my desk. Well, it's not. It's Flex Office, so it's not my desk at all, but I usually do sit here, so that's nice. This is the corner office of the CHL chair group. I'm doing my PhD at Wageningen University, and then I'm in two different chair groups, Consumption and Healthy Lifestyles, and Strategic Communication. Usually, I sit here, and then I hop over between chair groups, because the hallways are on the same floor. It works pretty well. I will tell you all about the project and so later, but I'm just going to start my day and take you along the work life, and then later, fill you in on my personal project. So we're on our way to pick up my poster for the dissertation installation. I really like doing some creative work as well with my PhD stuff. So that's happening and I really want to show you. But before that, we are going on a little walk together since it's autumn and the leaves are out. So yeah, let's go do that. So does it feel like fall? But here it does on the left. Okay, well, here's the history then. Here's the WUR logo, guys. Logo. Yeah. We're back from the bike ride with an unboxing of my research project overview. I'm doing this PhD for like four years, maybe five of my life. And I wrote a plan as to what I'm going to be doing in the upcoming time. And for that plan, I also made a visualization which looks like this. I printed it now on heavy duty paper. So I'm quite excited to see how it came to life. Let's see. Oh, that's cool. So next week it's PhD day. So that's very exciting. And everyone can kind of like showcase their work, what they're working on. And I can do it based on this visualization. Okay, I do want to show you what I'm working on. I'm just yapping here without making much sense. So I'm a behavior scientist. I'm super interested in behavioral change and specifically people's reactions when they don't want to change. For example, in the meat context where there is a lot of resistance when you ask people to limit their consumption for sustainability or other reasons. The key of this research is understanding this resistance in the social environment over time to eventually make it hopefully a bit easier for the world to be sustainable. So that's my research. How fun. And yeah, even if you don't care about the whole story, that's also fine. Here is a very pretty research poster that I made. So yeah, I think that's also very cool. I really love that this workplace that there's so much space for creativity. My YouTube channel is also being celebrated so much, which I really appreciate. There's just a lot of space for me to be myself and to explore like how I want to evolve over time, new skills I want to learn, especially also the creative ones that make research more approachable for everyone. So yeah, this is the poster. I think it looks super good. I'm very excited to hang it and show it to everyone. Big deal. Yay. That means it's four o'clock since I started it. We can go home. Normally when I come back from work, I'm like, oh, I don't have a bag. Well, this has sold everything. She's always when I come home, so happy. I was in such a good mood that I did some groceries and I was just very excited to cook a nice dinner. You want to see? We have some salad. Tonight I'm thinking potato salad or like not the classic one, but just like potato wedges, some salad and halloumi. I was really craving halloumi today. But some crochets I thought, some tomatoes and I think I'm going to make like a honey mustard dressing. Sorry about some honey because I didn't have that. It looks really good. Normally I have my pottery course on Thursdays, which is really nice, but it's spring break now, like autumn break. So now I don't have that. So instead, we'll enjoy a movie. I'm so excited. So cute. I love this. I bought this beamer already for my birthday and it's just every time I'm like, living life to the fullest like this. This is so nice. I don't know what I'm going to watch yet. YouTube.
