TOP 20 Craziest Volleyball Attacks by Simeon Nikolov. Simeon Vladimirov Nikolov , Bulgarian Симеон Владимиров Николов (born November 24, 2006 in Sofia ) - Bulgarian volleyball player , playing as a setter , representative of the country .
The setter is the son of the legendary Vladimir Nikolov, captain and icon of the Bulgarian National Team that earned bronze medals in the 2006 World Championship, the 2007 World Cup and the 2009 European Championship. But the legacy also continues with his older brother Aleksandar, one of the most promising players in the world at just 20 years old.
His mother's name is Maja and he has 2 brothers: older Aleksander , a volleyball player playing as a receiver in the Italian club Cucine Lube Civitanova , and younger Filip.
In September 2023, he received a call-up from the coach of the senior Bulgarian national team Plamen Konstantinov for the intercontinental qualifying tournament for the 2024 Summer Olympics , being just under 17 years old.
In January 2024, the Bulgarian national team won the match against Turkey in the Balkan qualifiers for the European Junior Championships (BVA), where the volleyball player scored as many as 18 points. Nine of them were aces, four were blocks and the remaining 5 points were second-ball attacks and tip-ins.
Oh, big aggressive swing.
Asparov on to Bulgaria.
Oh, you're joking.
He is not joking.
One iota, 54th point of the competition.
And how many of these have we seen from this young superstar from Bulgaria?
Exquisite.
21 all, Spiritually with the serve.
And a big block.
And guess who that is.
None other than the setter, Nikolov, now in that hitting position.
Yes, it is.
Nikolov's going to go.
Just give me the ball, please.
Just the numbers.
That's a good serve, though.
And it goes to Nikolov.
To the middle.
The dig by Kovacic.
Jibble.
Oh, well kept.
And Simeon Nikolov does not need a second invitation to swing.
Nice composure on that as well from Nikolov.
Well, he's not trying to bounce every ball at one meter.
There he looks for the block, works it nicely.
Of course, Nikolov's serve.
This hits the first touch.
Still alive.
Free ball, okay.
Oh, my goodness.
Simeon Nikolov has nearly burst the ball,
dented the floor, and knocked the venue down.
Wow.
Still ringing in his ears.
Oh, Simeon Nikolov.
Send him to bed without any supper because he's a very naughty boy.
Fantastic awareness that it is.
Look at the expression there from Blanchini.
Arms aloft.
Nikolov on two again.
Well, Concepcion is going to work hard on that.
But the thing Nikolov's doing here as well, he's being smart about it.
He's trying to drag that middle blocker out of the game as well.
That looked a little bit of manipulation.
Bulgaria get on with it.
And I really think what's important to note from that is regardless of what
Bulgaria did and took that one on a figure of eight before sending it over,
no reaction from France at all.
Still got to finish the point.
Sanchez, Nikolov on two he goes.
Oh, that's too late for that disguise.
You always have to be so careful with a setter like Nikolov.
He is a setter that loves to be on the attack,
and he's smart when he uses it as well.
So to mix this in.
Free ball could be trouble for Bulgaria.
Managed to get it into transition.
And in comes Nikolov showing that, yes, he's a good opposite.
Probably not a lot of information in the scouting report
on his attack tendencies from position one.
So for Iran...
And Tatarov.
Goes shorter onto Tahorst.

Spiked out.
Specialist server in this U.S.A. team as far as...
Oh!
Nikolov slams up the front.
Goodness me.
What he's done really well is he's thrown that down with some force,
but he's done it in a way as well not to...
Poro with the serve.
Very tight pass, and there's that two ball from Nikolov
that we've been waiting for.
Well, he's left-handed as well, so we've seen many sessions
where the right hander just dropping behind them
or use the left hand to dump.
But on that flat one, he'll tip it.
If it's got a little bit of an arc to it, he's going to turn and swing.
Nikolov again.
He's like, yeah, do whatever you like, I'll play wherever.
I bet his passing isn't too bad either.
Probably played a lot in the backyard with his brother and dad.
Could be the worst place to learn.

Completely.

Those players that aren't jump serving are the jump throw
to create the same probability.
Nikolov does make one land.
It was only ever going to be a matter of time.
I think that's the stubbornness on his part, isn't it?
It's like he's been told, yes, I can, I'm going to do it.
There's quite a long way off the net to do that.
But they cannot let him be one dimension.
Semenyuk with the service.
That is desperately unlucky from Jan Fierle,
because Nikolov's gone on the second ball.
There he is, being all creative again.
But, do you know what?
It's a smart play from Nikolov, because it's a giant front court.
Arsenov.
Good touch.
And a great save.
And this time it is returned.
Oh, he's done it again.
Simeon Nikolov.
Keeping them guessing.
Brilliant reflexes.
High volleyball IQ.
We like that a lot.
We like this a lot, too.
Great scramble by Slipknot.
Chuininga, good serve.
Forces Khrushchev off wide.
Free ball.
A chance for USA to hit the front.
Not taken yet.
Poshalov back in.
Recycle once more.
Nikolov.
You cheeky, cheeky boys.
Simeon Nikolov.
Yes, exactly, Andy.
Just picking up a little bit late.
Ma.
Nikolov.
Spadov.
Off the hands.
Nikolov, is that a swing?
And he's picked up a touch.
Very, very nice from the young man.
Well, he is on the court as a setter,
but that's a pretty classy looking swing.
Maybe learnt that one from his older brother.
Nice height swing.
Ma.
Attempting to level the game.
Scooped over by Nikolov.
That is the fastest way to get an attack happening.
The game, the block has to respect that
from the start of the game and always be aware of it.
That's nice.
That's a good aggressive play from Nikolov.
Shows that he wants to play.
Tatarov with a very cheeky serve.
That's an overpass dealt with well from Dobrev
and Nikolov on the two ball.
Awesome footy from Argentina, of course there is.
Polanski trying to recycle that one off the block,
but it's down.
As soon as that ball sails high on the net
for a second ball option, Nikolov, you know he's there.
He's got 54 points as a setter.
He does play a little bit as he points his opponent,
but really aggressive.
And a setting option for Bulgaria.
That one knocks over the net there.
Polanski from his knees having to pass it.
Oh, great up from Dobrev.
Out to Lima. That's a tight one.
He deals with it well.
Oh, and that is so clever from Tatarov.
Well, again, a rally has started.
A lot of frustration for the Bulgarian side.
Ends up with a real positive winner.
If you're going to scramble a point,
that's the way to do it.
Rolls one over top.
Nikolov going for the two ball.
Still in play.
The pipe attack is a tip.
Lorenzano's below it, and there's a net touch
on, I believe the call is on Moscow.
But Italy not too happy with this call.
Now it looked like it was an elbow or something
that made contact with the net.
On the right side, the blocker.
That two ball attack is dug.
Very, very tight.
A little miscommunication, I think.
Good to see, he's typically a middle player.
He's like, am I hitting that one?
I'm going for that one. What?
Ah, you hate to see it.
I think the actual policy, that foot
that crosses over the middle line.
Tatarov from the baseline.
That's a big serve.
That's a huge serve.
Dunay brings it back.
But Nikolov is on the tape and ready for it.
This time he's setting to Dimitrov again.
And this time the ball is down.
What a play for Bulgaria.
Nikolov just couldn't quite put it away.
Wasn't quite on the angle here to hit.
He used the hand.
Great chase down, great resilience from Turkey.
Yeah, this from Dunay was incredible to bring it back.
And a great pick up here.
Exactly. Blockers, don't wave your hands in the air.
You just don't care.
You have to care. It's really important.
Another chance for Bulgaria.
Another chance for Nikolov.
Oh dear.
He's just made it impossible for Kerjakin
who's touched the line.
Degree of difficulty on that play.
Very high.
Yes. I mean, Simone Biles wouldn't have got anywhere near that
in terms of degree of difficulty.
And the salute to the judges afterwards by Kerjakin
was deplorable.
