The MotoAmerica Laguna Seca race is coming up and I'm racing... this?!
What's up f***ers, we're at Auto Club Speedway today, it's time to ride my new race bike.
We're a week out from Laguna Seca, you guys have been asking for it all year long, I've
been waiting for it all year long, the time has finally come that we get a new race bike.
So, let's go check it out, we're running a little bit behind on time because Nate got
a flat tire today and he was late already, but it's time, we waited for him, I'm ready
to ride, let's go.
All right, so Kat's out of the bag, we're racing the Performance Machine Harley Davidson
in the King of the Baggers class at Laguna Seca, pretty stoked on it, it's the first
week that I've ever put my ass on a bagger, so I was not really looking forward to it,
I didn't think it was going to be that good of a bike, but I rode one this week just to
get some tacos with the Performance Machine guys, had a blast, was f***ing lighting the
tire up, coming out of the lights and stuff, it was a lot of fun.
So, now we're at Auto Club Speedway actually riding the thing on a track, in a group and
a track day, so it's kind of sketchy, you got guys flying by on the straightaway, but
we're starting to get to where we can make some passes on guys on sport bikes, so it's
pretty fun.
The bike that I'm racing is the one on the left, it's the Performance Machine bike, the
one on the right is a company that's helping us out, Slide Fox Racing, or Slide Fox Performance,
they asked me to ride the bike, Corey West is racing it at Laguna, so they asked me to
just ride it and kind of feel it out, see how it is.
Ours is having some clutch issues, I guess normally they would put some, or they need
to put some stiffer springs in the clutch, it was slipping down the straights, they did
some work to the engine on this, I don't know if that's why, but it was slipping, so we
need to do some work on that.
In the meantime I rode the Slide Fox Performance bike, that thing was f***ing awesome, had
a lot of fun, got my knee down on it, which I was very surprised, I didn't know if I would
or not, passed a couple of sport bikes, just having a ton of fun, this whole thing is all
about having fun, a lot of people were kind of dissing the whole bagger class idea, it's
called King of the Baggers, I think it's a good thing man, trying to get these Harley
guys, you know, people like this into the sport, I think it's awesome, there's nothing
better, why not, you know I'm always up for a challenge, I have fun, I did the Moto Beach
Classic which was a Rolling Sands event, I did that on a Ducati Scrambler and had a ton
of fun, it was kind of similar to this, but this is a full on 800 pound bike, so it was
pretty gnarly going around a track like this, dragging a knee, never seen anybody going
through the canyons dragging a knee on a bagger, but you will next week at Moto America at
Laguna Seca, so just having fun, thanks to the whole Performance Machine guys, everybody
there for putting this thing together for me, Randy Acevedo, he's been a friend of mine
for a long time, dude with the big old ugly hoop earrings in his ears, and yeah, just
the whole thing like I said is about having fun, we've got a group of guys I've never
met before, we're out at track day just having a good time and just experiencing something
new and hopefully it's something that sticks around for a while and people get into it,
I mean we've got a lot of awesome competitors that are coming out and racing, Ben Bosch
from my old teammate, he's racing, Corey West, Michael Barnes, Tyler O'Hara, Frankie Garcia,
there's a list of dudes that are coming out to race this that are all very good road racers,
so it's not going to be some lame event, there's going to be a bunch of baggers clapping into
each other having a good time, so make sure you guys watch it on MotoAmerica Live Plus
and yeah, hopefully we have a good day out here, we'll continue to tell you all about
the day and hopefully keep making progress on the bike and have fun.
Hey, we need to hear this story, what story?
German.
What is it?
It's his last name.
No, no, it's my last name.
I knew it was his last name.
How do you pronounce it?
I just knew that he didn't know his last name.
Look at his butt.
Yeah.
I grew up with it my whole life.
You should create a story.
Well, you know, my mom hooked up with this guy.
Drug the rear set on the ground or the peg, whatever you want to call it.
It snapped off or came loose.
Like in a right, first time I touched it, it kind of spooked me and then down straight
away, it was all loose.
Like, oh, ----.
It was just hanging like this.
I think that's because I drug it a little bit.
Dragging the rear sets on a bagger.
That's what I was born to do.
Did you ever think you'd see me racing one of these?
Probably not.
My dad's probably so proud.
He's so proud.
Takes a man to ride one of these, I think.
------- scary.
It's very stressful.
Is it?
Yeah, I'm scared.
------- big ass bike.
Crash that thing, man?
That'd be scary.
That's how I feel in the 700.
Hey, we should name this YouTube, this video, like, my 800 pound life.
Bike or bike?
You know, they have a TV show.
I know.
That's why I said life or bike.
My 800 pound bike.
I'll Photoshop you to make you look like it's like 800 pounds.
In my leathers.
In your leathers.
All right, so the guys just changed the clutch.
They had to clutch springs, I guess.
Heavier springs in.
They Ubered them here.
Uber delivery.
So now we're going to go back out, give it a go.
I think we learned a little bit from riding this Live Fox bike.
Gave us a little bit of a head start on our bike.
Get the seat a little bit higher.
We dropped the front end.
Hopefully that makes it a little bit better.
Just trying to get a little bit more of a comfortable feel from it, if we can.
I just want the guys that really put more work into it than me to really get the effort
in and out.
You don't even know.
This is Randy.
This is June.
Two of the big time parts of this whole project being put together.
We're going to put them on the spot right now and let them talk about the project and
why they wanted to do it.
So, drag specialties came up with this race and with that, they invited certain people.
Oh wait, that happened.
So, drag invited certain people to come out and do this king of the baggers race.
The performance machine was one of the people that were invited.
So, we accepted that challenge and we built, we took a 2009 twin cam.
And we turned it into a race bike with a lot of help from a lot of people in the industry.
GP Suspension stepped up pretty big and helped us out.
Diamond Lane Cycles came in.
Sly Fox came in.
S&S helped out quite a bit.
Aggressive Suspension put some stuff on here.
Custom Pipe.
Yep, Custom Pipe was made by Vance & Hines.
Vance & Hines definitely came in and helped us out so we could run that pipe with our
mid control.
There's a lot of people and just want to make sure that we get everybody.
Obviously, just like everybody else, we'd like to win, but we wanted to take a bagger
and pretty much take things from the big book, from drag specialties, and be able to put
this bike together so anybody could go down and have a Harley, that has a Harley, and
basically pretty much build this thing.
There's a few things we made custom, but other than that, it's pretty much all stuff you
could buy from all these brands.
Alright guys, we're done here at Autoclub Speedway.
Had a ton of fun.
Thank you to everybody at Performance Machine for hooking this whole deal up.
Everybody that came out today and took their day off work to be out here at the track with
us, trying to get this thing dialed in.
Thanks to Randy for making this whole thing possible.
He's been a long time friend of mine and it's really cool to be able to do something with
him like this.
I've always known him at the track.
We never got to work together, so it's been a lot of fun.
It got so busy today and I was having so much fun riding the bike that I forgot to say something
about these tire warmers.
I planned on, you know, talking about these things in this video because I thought it
would help the sales, but I posted them on Instagram one time and we sold out within
like 15 hours, so they're pretty hot.
Everybody liked them.
These are Capit tire warmers.
Not really that well known in the U.S., but these are the tire warmers that basically
every team in MotoGP runs.
I partnered up with the guys here that run the U.S. part of Capit and I told them, hey,
let's...
At first, I kind of went to them and was trying to get a free set of tire warmers like every
other rider does.
I was like, you know what?
I want to kind of prove that I can do something good with you guys, so we branded 10 sets
of these, sold them on Instagram.
Like I said, they were gone in 15 hours.
So if you guys are interested in these, email the link or email below, however you say that,
and try and make some more of these for you guys.
We'll do another limited run or order you some custom ones, whatever you want.
So hit us up if you like them.
I appreciate you guys at Capit for hooking me up with these.
And yeah, that's all we got for today.
We're going to be at Laguna Seca this weekend, king of the baggers.
I'll be riding this.
Thank you to Performance Machine, everybody that's helping make it possible.
Make sure you guys go and check out the Moto America Live Plus app so you can watch all
the action.
I'll be racing the BMW there also.
We've got three super bike races this weekend.
We had our best weekend of the whole year last weekend at Indy.
We were able to run in the top five basically the whole race.
We finished sixth, but only three seconds behind the leaders.
So it's basically the best that a BMW's ever ran here in the States.
And super pumped to be able to run the bagger race at Laguna.
So make sure you go check out all the action, and we'll see you next week.
Sweet.
