Welcome to beautiful Hong Kong.
It's 10am right now so it's time to get our breakfast.
Today I want to finally try out the Hong Kong breakfast.
The famous macaroni soup with bread and egg and some milk tea I think.
So yeah, I think I have a local shop where I want to go right now and test it out and
see how good it is.
It's going to be my first time ever trying it so it shall be interesting.
I can't find the place what I saw yesterday so I'll be going here instead.
It actually might be a bit easier because they have the English menu so
should be a bit easier for me.
So let's go, let's give it a try and they have also very nice buns over here.
Hello, table for one, I don't know, wherever.
Okay.
Why can I, maybe I can take here, can I sit?
That's good.
I'd like to have this one.
This one?
Yes.
And does it come with a milk tea?
Milk tea?
Yeah.
I see for milk tea.
Sorry?
Milk tea, I see for.
Yeah.
I see milk tea.
Yeah.
Okay, thank you.
Milk tea arrived.
Man, I don't like those paper straws at all.
It's so annoying.
I can't use the paper straw, sorry.
I would rather use, I would rather use my mouth as a straw.
Oh, very nice.
Very, very solid milk tea.
Thank you guys.
Hong Kong milk tea is really nice.
It's already, already here.
And I also got the bun.
I didn't think I would get the, is it a pineapple bun or a normal bun?
Nice.
Look at that, guys.
I think that's the breakfast set.
Hong Kong breakfast set for me.
Let's give it a go.
Some soup.
Macaroni, a lot of macaronis actually.
Let's give it a go.
The soup has like a ham flavor.
It makes sense, you know, because macaroni doesn't have such a strong flavor.
The soup itself is quite, you know, basic.
So the flavor comes from the ham.
As a macaroni lover, I approve.
One thing is kind of surprising, this one.
I didn't expect to get this kind of bread, actually.
I thought that I would get like a toast.
Should I just bite it and eat the egg separately or should I put it together?
I'm not sure.
The bread is sweet.
So I think maybe the egg you eat separately, I assume.
Yeah, the egg is very nicely cooked, you know.
Salty, creamy.
Look at that.
Cooked to, cooked to perfection.
Very, very well cooked over here.
I think that a hint of pepper on this, on the top is definitely good.
So I guess this bread is like a dessert.
Let me know if you're from Hong Kong, how do you eat it?
Egg on top of that bread.
And you eat it like this or?
It's good either way, I'd say.
Milk tea is really nice.
I bought milk tea in 7-Elevens over here in Hong Kong.
And they got some nice milk tea.
I really like it.
I wouldn't say actually funny enough, but better than in Taiwan.
Like milk tea is kind of, Taiwan is the birthplace of milk tea, right?
But I think milk tea here, I don't know.
For me, I like it more.
Almost done over here.
Now if I think about it, this tea is slightly similar to Thai tea.
Like, not exactly, but I would say like slightly, slightly.
There's a hint of it that it's similar.
Maybe it's just this place.
I don't know if it's like a traditional Hong Kong tea that is like this, but yeah.
Hello.
Yeah, I got you.
Oh, it's a visa card.
No visa card.
Oh, okay.
Just make cash out of the bus.
Sure, sure.
I'll make cash now.
Okay, thank you.
Thank you.
Oh, it's so difficult to say.
I'm trying to practice here, man.
Okay.
Okay, thank you.
Very different pronunciation.
They also have those breads, but I already got, I already got a bread.
But the crispy pineapple bun does look good and it's also kind of like traditional.
So I might take that pineapple bun, but I wonder if I can eat it in the tram.
Is it allowed?
Probably not, right?
But maybe I'll just grab it and I'll eat it a little bit later.
Hello.
Yes.
I have the pineapple bun.
Crispy.
Yeah.
Your cash?
Yes.
Okay.
Thank you.
Thank you very much.
The bun is very nice and warm.
Smells so good.
Kind of very excited to dig in and eat it already.
Currently, I am at the areas called North Point.
That's where I've kind of stayed around a bit.
Just to show you guys a bit around.
So it's a pretty nice area here.
Local, maybe tiny bit cheaper as well.
So it's a good thing for sure.
Let's go through those streets and try to get on the tram.
That would be fun.
But yeah, in Hong Kong, all the buildings are so tall.
Everywhere you look, tall buildings.
And you have those famous air conditioning units.
It's a famous thing in Hong Kong.
And yeah, you get this Hong Kong rain from here as well.
The water dripping down.
Over here, it's actually not too bad
because they seem to all have like some sort of tubes.
But still, you got a little bit of condensation going down.
But not too much here.
Here is pretty good.
I guess it really depends.
In some places, you'll feel it.
And if you don't know it, you're going to be like, what is that?
You know, like you're not quite sure
because you think like it's not raining, right?
And then you realize later, oh, it's air con.
We're going to be going on the tram on the second floor.
I want to go on the second level for sure.
I think they have a station here, no?
Okay, my tram is coming.
They're coming actually very often.
Or should I go on this one?
I can definitely go on, right?
How do I go on?
So there is some sort of...
Okay, I might as well take the front...
This one on the back then.
Hello, sir.
Can I pay by Visa, yeah?
Yeah, yes.
Ah, okay.
Thank you.
That's it.
Okay, let's give a little tour over here as well.
Very cool.
Oh, you can go to the top from here as well.
Let's go.
Let's go on.
Let's go to the front.
The one thing that is different...
Oh my god, look at that.
That is so cool.
Wow.
And one thing that is different in Hong Kong is that
when you tap on to get on the public transport,
you don't have to tap off.
Otherwise, you're gonna pay double.
I did it once and the bus driver told me that
in Hong Kong, we don't tap twice because...
Yeah, it's just you tap on and yeah.
Later, if you need to exit, you can exit, so...
It's interesting though because you can pretty much
stay all day in the public transport if you want to, right?
And pay the same fare.
Or if you go one station or ten stations,
they're not gonna be much difference.
I think in Hong Kong, the public transport is quite fairly priced.
But I just...
That's crazy though.
How close those trams go.
And yeah, it's just...
And being on the second floor over here
and you have like open window, you can put your...
I put my hand out.
I don't know.
Is it allowed?
I think it's not too bad.
The way it kind of feels as well is kind of...
Yeah, it's moving around way more than usual tram, I would say.
I'm not sure what's happening right now.
But by the looks of things, I think we're gonna go straight
unless something changes here.
I'm looking those tracks.
And looking at the tracks, I think we're going straight.
Oh no, that's why he was waiting.
Are we gonna go left?
He was switching.
The tracks were switching now.
Yeah, we're gonna go left.
Which is actually even better
because we get to see the wet market.
So we're gonna be...
Wow, that's perfect.
I mean, I also got lucky
because I had no clue that this tram is gonna go through the wet market.
So here we are.
The wet market where I wanted to go.
And look how small people are.
Wow, look at that.
They're selling all kinds of stuff over here.
They have like a lot of meat, seafood, all kind of stuff.
I think we're gonna be waiting here a bit.
I think it's a stop here.
Yeah, people are just shopping.
There's like a lot of fruit and stuff.
Vegetables.
And all kind of regular market kind of stuff.
But people are here all the time on the way
so the tram driver or operator has to be super careful
because people can get in the way very easily.
Yeah, what a cool experience it is, right?
And big Hong Kong style buildings.
It's a very cool experience.
I might actually get off it now
because it's gonna wait here such a long time.
So we might...
Because there are a couple of them in the line.
So I think I might get off now.
I hope I can...
I think I can get off now, right?
So I'll be going off.
Let's go.
What?
So we need to tap?
We need to tap again, no?
No, no.
Hey guys, sorry.
Did you tap again?
Sorry?
You tapped again, the card.
Yeah, it's like two times.
I think no.
I think in Hong Kong, I'm pretty sure you have to tap only once.
So I think it charges you extra.
Check on your card.
Yeah.
One bus driver told me once that I tapped off
and he told that I don't need to do that.
Okay.
Yeah.
But you tapped in?
Yeah, I tapped in.
It's like everybody gets the same price.
Oh, okay.
Because we didn't tap in at any point.
Oh, you didn't tap in?
No.
Only tapped out.
Ah, okay.
Then it's fine.
You should have been like, I guess...
Yeah, because I was looking.
It took the payment.
So I...
Yeah.
Yeah, I mean, just tap once.
Okay, okay.
Good to know, yeah.
Okay, so you tapped once?
Yeah, at all, yeah.
Okay, okay, okay.
But thank you so much.
Where are you guys from?
From Germany.
Ah, Germany.
Where are you from?
I'm from Estland.
Estland, oh.
Also Europe, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Not too far.
What are you guys doing now?
I guess browsing.
Browsing?
Yeah.
Check out the market.
Maybe go to Hong Kong to the other side.
Yeah, yeah.
Ah, with the boat?
Yeah, I think so.
That's a good idea.
I haven't taken that yet.
No, we also love boat.
We'll see, yeah.
Okay, cool.
All right.
Nice to meet you.
Thank you, bye.
It's kind of confusing because...
Because I was worried that they double pay like I did once.
So I was thinking I'll help them, but they didn't tap on, which is different.
They just tapped off.
I guess you can do it this way as well, right?
But I think when you go on the train, you should always tap on.
So the driver will know that you're going to pay for it, right?
Yeah, look at that action here.
The pig is getting cut up.
The smell here and the fresh seafood coming.
The shrimps are jumping.
Oh my god.
This guy.
Should I save him?
No, no.
It was so fast.
I took it by the tail and oh my god.
And it flicked.
Oh my god, that was kind of crazy.
Yeah, and there they keep just jumping out.
They have like different kind of fish over here.
Everything is so fresh.
Straight from the sea.
Wow, super fresh.
Like actually smells very nice and clean as well.
But yeah, it's kind of...
In a way, it's sad to see as well that, you know, the fish are kind of suffering.
But you know, that's what it is.
And they also have durian here.
In Hong Kong, one good thing is that durian is super available everywhere.
Like you can even have it like on the basic like markets.
I mean supermarket kind of shops.
So it's super available everywhere.
But the problem, one problem, it's a bit pricey.
Actually, the price is...
I don't even know like is it going up or...
Because in supermarket, it's kind of really cheap right now.
They have like discounts available.
I'm kind of full right now.
I'm not even like so hungry to get durian.
Which is quite surprising, right?
I think the breakfast was quite heavy.
If I buy durian right now, I have to eat it right away.
I can't really store it in my hotel.
Otherwise, the room is going to smell so bad and so strong.
And they may not like it as well the hotel.
Look at that.
All kinds of different fish balls and whatnot.
Meatballs and all kind of stuff.
It smells kind of nice.
I should definitely buy something as well.
Okay, so the durian there is 16 per...
16 dollars per half a kilogram, right?
So one kilogram is 32.
So if you buy three kilo durian, that's like 96.
That's even more fresh seafood here.
That's completely alive.
Kept alive here under the water.
Next level fresh.
I think I found a pretty good option here.
Smells nice.
Smells like a very sweet and creamy durian.
So yeah, I'll be taking this.
Very excited to eat that actually.
Smell is promising.
Okay, so we got a durian.
Now we just need a place where to eat it.
Because it's not very clever to take the durian to the hotel.
Because they can actually fine you at some places.
So just might have to be clever and not do that right now.
Maybe... I think I know the place for that.
Yeah, I'm not gonna go into the tram to eat that neither.
Probably not a smart idea.
They have a nice spot.
So let's walk there.
I noticed today there's like so many police officers around here.
I don't know if they're police.
Kind of look like police.
But I'm not quite sure what's going on.
Hello, sir.
Are you a police?
Oh, no.
No?
Okay, so I asked him off camera that...
So they are hygiene officers.
So they're making sure that hygiene standards are met here.
Which is a good thing, right?
I think.
Okay, let's cross the road here.
And crossing quickly.
There's another market area here as well.
It's quite big building.
Oh my god.
Way more quiet here though.
Like not too many people here compared to the outdoor wet market.
Which is quite surprising.
But yeah, I guess maybe it's more pricier here because of the building.
Well, I mean there is also building.
I don't know.
And in Hong Kong you also see like a lot of the caregivers from a lot of different countries.
Like from Indonesia, Philippines.
And yeah.
And they form very big communities here.
Like usually on Sunday or Saturday maybe.
You can see a lot of them.
They are doing some caterings together.
And you know.
Yeah, they form like a community.
And they have their own wives here.
Can we see a fish?
But there are a lot of fishermen here.
I think the sea is full of fish and whatever.
So people can enjoy fishing here a lot.
And catch something nice.
Hello, sir.
What is he catching?
He has an aquarium.
He has his own aquarium with him.
That's something very, very different.
I would say.
I never quite...
I've seen like people have like water pockets or whatever.
But this is like you can see through it as well.
It's kind of cool.
But now it's time to enjoy the durian.
Hopefully the man loves durian flavor or smell.
Or maybe I can also share him a bite.
I'm not greedy.
It's a big durian.
So I can definitely share it a bit.
Okay, let's see the flavor.
My fingers are almost clean.
I did touch the shrimp over there.
But it shouldn't be too bad.
I think I used my left hand.
So it shouldn't be too bad.
Nice and sweet.
It's a pretty good durian, I think.
As long as it's not raw.
For me it's good.
But the sun, wow.
It's super bright over here.
I can barely open my eyes.
That's the problem with blue eyes, you know.
They're not very good in the sun.
I definitely have to eat a bit lighter tonight.
Because it's been a heavy breakfast.
And following it up with durian as well.
I think life is pretty good if you can enjoy durian for breakfast.
The price of durian is pretty much double the price of my breakfast set.
This costs like...
Was it 89?
I think so, I don't know.
It was 89, right?
Yeah, 89.60.
So yeah, double.
Yeah, crazy.
It's not a bad price for...
I mean, during my stay here, this price is kind of like the lower price.
So I think I still got it for a pretty decent price right now.
Just enjoying my view here.
Enjoying the durian.
Quite surprised that this durian was so cheap.
Because it's quite big actually.
The amount of durian there is, it's pretty solid.
Pretty solid amount.
I think Hong Kong is actually one of the most durian friendly countries I've been to.
I've never seen so much durian in any other country.
Hello, sir.
Durian?
Hello, durian?
No, no, no, no, no, no.
She wanted it.
She didn't want it.
She ate everything.
You want durian?
I can share.
No, thank you.
It's good.
Anyway.
In Hong Kong, yeah, like...
This has to be so far like...
In all the countries I visited, the most durian friendly in terms of...
So widely available.
Price is a bit expensive, surely.
But still, I think it's more cheaper than buying durian in Bangkok.
Like, I don't know.
In Bangkok, for example, which is so weird.
Because Thailand is one of the biggest producers.
It's so expensive there, you know.
I think it's even way more expensive than in Hong Kong, which is strange.
Because you would think in Thailand, it's more cheaper, right?
I'm sure in Thailand, you can find it cheaper if you go to local areas.
Or you find some good local markets.
But yeah, in Bangkok, if you go near the city center.
Oh my god, it's so disgustingly expensive there.
Hello.
Good morning.
Durian?
Try.
One, one, one.
Okay, okay, bye-bye.
Enjoy your walk.
Durian.
Here, here, I show, sure.
Here.
Good, good.
In the market, market there.
Yeah, good.
Thank you, thank you.
Okay, bye-bye.
She was quite surprised also to see the price of it.
But she should try it, you know.
I have plenty.
I'm happy to share right now.
Because I can finish it, yeah.
But you know, it would be good to share.
I'd love to share with some foreigners and see their reaction.
But that would be more funny.
Oh, the German couple before?
Oh, that would have been something.
I don't know if they would have enjoyed it as much.
Nobody have taken durian.
I've kind of been offering it to quite many people.
But nobody...
I think people are too shy to eat it anyway.
And a lot of people say like smell.
The fisherman, he said it's smell.
Hopefully, I'm not causing a big smell over here.
But this durian, sweet and nice, soft.
But the flavor is mild.
It doesn't have that really strong durian flavor.
But still is enjoyable.
Sometimes, some parts you get it a little bit.
So yeah, it's okay.
Another durian was hiding over here.
Oh my god.
Okay, me from the future.
The video is not in perfect chronological order now.
But I'll give it a try.
I almost forgot to try this one.
So even though I'm super full.
I have a little bite from this one right now.
And yeah, see how the pineapple bun tastes like over here in Hong Kong.
Very similar to the smaller one that I had.
Has like some flavor.
Very small flavor.
Is that the pineapple part?
Interesting.
But it's very nice though.
Such a soft, nice pastry.
Like sugar on top.
It's probably gonna be hard to not eat it all the way right now.
Probably will finish it right away.
It's that good.
So yeah, back to the past.
Wow, that durian was bigger than expected.
But I finished it all and alone.
Nobody wanted to share with me, sadly.
But yeah guys, that's where we're gonna be finishing it for today.
Thank you for watching all the way to the end of the video.
The show must go on.
Check out the next video starting over here.
Show must go on.
Check it out guys.
