If anyone ever doubted the will of God concerning healing, they would have to look no further than
the four Gospels to see that Jesus always said yes to healing. As a matter of fact, I can't find
one place where somebody came to Jesus and really they had a desperate need of healing and he said,
no, I'm sorry, it's not my will to heal you today. And I challenge you, if you don't believe that,
to read the Gospels for yourself and you will find that he always said yes. And I want you to
know that if you have need of healing in your body and you'll come to Jesus today,
he'll say yes to you as well. You know, the Gospels really are like an instruction manual
for us because they contain so many good stories of how Jesus healed people. And if we look into
those stories, we'll get some valuable nuggets on how we too can exercise our faith and receive
healing for our own bodies. And so I began teaching on the healings of Jesus recently.
And today I want to continue along those lines. And we're going to look at a story today of the
nobleman's son who was healed. Now, today I'm going to look at John chapter four from the
Amplified Classic, because I think it's just got some rich nuggets in there. And starting in verse
46, it says, So Jesus came again to Cana of Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine.
And there was a certain royal official whose son was lying ill in Capernaum. Now, Capernaum is
quite a distance from Cana. And it says, Then Jesus said unto him, Unless you see signs and
miracles happen, you people never will believe or trust or have faith at all. Then the king's
officer pleaded with him, Sir, do come down at once before my little child is dead. Jesus
answered him, Go in peace, your son will live. And the man put his trust in what Jesus said and
started home. But even as he was on the road going down, his servants met him and reported saying,
Your son lives. So he asked them at what time he had begun to get better. And they said yesterday
during the seventh hour, about one o'clock in the afternoon, the fever left him. Then the father knew
that it was at that very hour when Jesus had said to him, Your son will live. And he and his entire
household believed, they adhered to, trusted in, and relied on Jesus. Now listen, if you read
stories like this quickly, and then you just move on, you are going to miss so many good points.
And so I'm going to break this story down today, and I'm going to bring up five valuable truths
for us to see. Now, the first thing I want us to see is that faith is required to receive anything
from God. You know, in referencing wisdom in the book of James, James said this in James chapter
one and verses six and seven. Now this is regarding wisdom, but this is regarding anything that we
ask for. He said, Let him ask in faith with no doubting. For he who doubts is like a wave of the
sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything
from the Lord. Now that may seem a little stronger than something you've heard in your local church.
You know, most preachers aren't bold enough to say it that way, but James is telling us here that
faith is absolutely required to receive from God. And you know, we could say this about faith,
that faith is actually the currency of heaven. So we don't pay for healing, but we do receive
our healing by our faith. Now in verse 50, we read this, that the nobleman eventually put his
trust in Jesus and believed that his son would live. And so he started off, which was a great
distance to go home with nothing more than words from Jesus to base his faith on. But I want you to
know that is how we base our faith. We base it on words from God. Now I want you to see something
else. The nobleman did not start out in faith because these scriptures tell us that he first
came to Jesus begging and pleading with him. Now listen, the humility of this nobleman was very
commendable, but it was not what would get the job done. And Jesus knew this. It's faith that gets
the job done. You know, so many people in desperation, they make the mistake of crying
and begging and pleading, and they do everything except release their faith. And then they wonder
why they're not receiving healing. Listen, God loves us and he doesn't want us to be sick or
diseased in our bodies, but he does not respond to begging and pleading and crying. God always
responds to faith. And so you might as well not waste your time pleading and begging because it's
just a futile action that won't get results. Now God is not going to answer us based on our need
and not even on our sincerity, though most of us are very sincere when we come to God.
He always responds to faith. So then, some of you are wondering, well, if faith is required,
how then do I obtain faith? Well, that leads us to our second truth. Faith comes only one way,
and that's by hearing. Now Romans 10, 17 says this, so then faith comes by hearing and hearing
by the Word of God. I want you to know it didn't say it came by begging or crying. It says it comes
by hearing. And there's something else interesting to take note of here, that doubt and unbelief also
come by hearing. And so it's very critical what we allow ourselves to hear on a daily basis.
You know, I found this, that even if I spend too much time listening to Christian news,
that it begins to drain me of faith in God. Not because they're bad people, not because they're
not telling you the facts. I mean, these are natural facts. But I've just found that if I
spend too much time watching news and not enough time in the Word of God, the faith begins to drain.
You know, our spirits can actually leak. We spend faith on a daily basis just to survive in this
world. And so we have to continually replenish the faith that we're spending, so to speak.
And so we have to hear. We have to put ourselves in a place where we're hearing and hearing.
And that's why it's a good thing that you're watching me today, because your faith is being
built up into you as you're hearing today. Now Jesus knew that this nobleman had come to him
because the nobleman remembered about the first miracle that took place in Cana,
which was turning the water into wine. And that's why Jesus said, unless you see signs and wonders,
you'll never have faith at all. I mean, that's the amplified translation. But Jesus knew that
seeing a miracle was not going to be enough for this man to receive healing for his son.
He knew that he would have to get faith into him. And since faith only comes one way by hearing,
Jesus spoke these words. He gave him words to believe. He said, go in peace. And he said,
your son will live. Anytime you hear from God, whether it's through reading the Bible or hearing
words from the Holy Spirit in your spirit, faith will come. And you can take those words to the
bank that they'll come to pass if you refuse to doubt and only believe. And so we saw from
this story that the nobleman finally believed when he heard the words of Jesus. Now let's look
at a third truth that we find from this story. And that is that healing power is not limited to
proximity. Now I hope you're glad about that. That's why some of you watching me from a distance
can actually receive healing right where you're at. You don't have to be in my presence. And thank
God Jesus doesn't have to be physically present today to receive healing. You know, as a child,
I can remember I was raised in a denominational church that did not teach healing. Now they didn't
teach against it. Thank God for that. But they didn't actually teach that you could be healed.
And so I would daydream on a fairly regular basis about Jesus. And I would wonder, why does Jesus
get to be on the earth for a 33-year period and only that generation of people got to be healed?
And then for the rest of eternity on this planet, you know, nobody gets to have Jesus anymore and
receive healing. And you know, really, those were some pretty clever thoughts for a young person.
But the truth of the matter is, Jesus doesn't have to be on the earth anymore for us to receive our
healing. Because healing comes by faith in his word. You know, the day that I found out that
Jesus was still healing people on this earth is the day that everything changed for my life.
And I mean, my dream had come true. And everything will change for you too, if you'll just learn to
believe and trust in his word. Do you know that speaking the word of God is enough? You don't
have to have Jesus physically appear to you. You don't have to have him come to your bedside like
so many would like. And you don't even necessarily need a preacher to come and touch you physically.
What you need is to trust what Jesus says. Now we know this, that Jesus and his word are one.
And so if we have the word of God, we actually do have Jesus. Once Jesus spoke his word concerning
the nobleman's son, healing began. And I'll tell you what, that happened without being in the
presence of that son. You know, there is no distance in the spirit realm. Thank God. Even
the Roman centurion from Matthew chapter eight had an understanding of this when he besought
Jesus to heal his servant. And Jesus was willing to come in that case. Now, I believe the reason
Jesus did not go to the nobleman's son is because he knew by the time he got there,
that son would already be dead. And so to just speed things up, he sent his word.
But in this case, with the Roman centurion, Jesus was willing to come, but the centurion
stopped him because he had faith that I don't need you physically present. I just need you to
speak the word only and my servant shall be healed. And you know what? The Bible says that
Jesus marveled at his faith. He actually spoke about it and made a big deal about it to show
the children of Israel that this is all it takes is faith in the word. Now let's look at a fourth
truth that we glean from this particular story. Not all healing is instant. And that's important
for us to understand because some people really believe that if they walk away from a healing line
or they pray the prayer of faith and nothing changes, that that must mean that they weren't
healed. But that's not so at all. You know, some people just might be amazed to discover that
And I believe that's because there's a process of faith involved for so many people.
You know, verse 42 in this story that we read tells us that the nobleman asked his servants
what time his son began to get better. So that doesn't tell us, well, when was he instantly
healed? It means it was a process where he began to amend. Now if you pray for healing or you have
someone lay hands on you for healing and you don't notice a change instantly, do not cast away
your confidence. Now is the time. Once you've had that point of contact and you believe you received,
now is the time to hold fast to what you believe. And don't change what you believe just because
there's a storm in your life. You know, sometimes you pray or you have someone lay hands on you
and symptoms will get worse before they get better. And it's always the devil trying to roar at you
and get you to back off of your faith and get back into doubt and unbelief. And so I want to
encourage you today, hold fast if that describes you. Don't cast away your confidence, but continue
to believe until the manifestation. You know, it's those who refuse to quit believing, no matter what
happens, that end up with the manifestation of healing in their bodies. And then we're going to
look at one more truth from this story today, and that's this. One person receiving their healing
can lead countless amounts of people to Jesus Christ. You know, verse 53 tells us that the
nobleman and his entire household believed in Jesus as a result of his son's healing.
And you know, this boy was at the point of death, so his recovery was an obvious miracle to all those
that were there. But that miracle brought glory to God because in the end, they all believed.
Now, every time you receive divine healing, I want you to know that you're glorifying God as well.
In 1 Corinthians chapter 6 and verse 20, it says you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God
in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. And so how do we glorify God in our body? Well,
certainly by keeping our body in submission to his holiness and to his word, but also by allowing
healing power to come in and heal our bodies and keep us whole. We glorify God with a healed body,
not with a sick and a diseased body. Now, I want to pray with you today if you're watching
and you have been struggling with disease or pain in your body. And as a matter of fact,
if you'll just reach out and touch your phone, your television, whatever device that you're
watching from, make that your point of contact. And as you touch that screen and I pray for you,
release your faith to receive healing right now. Because remember, there is no distance in the
realm of the spirit. God's power will work for you because he sends forth his word and heals you
and delivers you from your destructions. So Father, I pray now for all those who are watching,
every person that has been suffering from the cruelty of disease and pain in their bodies.
Lord, we know it's not your plan for them to suffer another day. I command you, Satan, to take
your hands off of their minds and off of their bodies in the name of Jesus. And now we release
the healing power of God to flow in you from the top of your head to the soles of your feet.
Be healed in Jesus' mighty name. Now, we want to hear your testimonies. So please remember to write
