The Little Evergreen's Christmas wish. Far away in a quiet snowy forest stood a little evergreen tree.
It wasn't tall like the pines that reach toward the clouds. It wasn't grand like the firs that
stretched proudly across the hills. The little evergreen was small with short branches and soft
needles tucked between two mighty trees. Every winter the forest came alive with snowflakes
and songbirds. And every winter the little evergreen dreamed the same dream.
I wish I could be part of Christmas. The tall trees whispered proudly about how their branches
might one day be chosen to stand in the village square. Decorated with twinkling lights and
ornaments, the little evergreen sighed softly. I'm too small. No one would ever choose me.
But deep inside, the little tree kept its wish close. To be part of the joy, love and light of
Christmas, the wish won frosty evening. As snowflakes danced like diamonds in the moonlight,
the little evergreen lifted its branches toward the sky. Oh bright stars above, it whispered.
Please hear my Christmas wish. Just then, one star twinkled brighter than the rest.
It was as though it had heard the little tree's longing. The star sparkled warmly and seemed to
say, Do not worry, little one. Even the smallest tree can shine with great light. The evergreen
shivered with hope, but still wondered, How could I, small and plain, ever be part of something so
grand? Visitors in the snow. The next morning, the forest was busy with footsteps. Crunch,
crunch, crunch. The sound of boots came closer. Anna and Joel, two children from the nearby
village, wandered through the woods with their rabbit hopping beside them. Look, Joel! Anna
pointed. That little tree is so sweet. Joel tilted his head. It's not very big, but it looks cozy
here in the snow. The little evergreen trembled with excitement. Could it be, had someone finally
noticed? The children leaned close, brushing snow off its tiny branches. The rabbit wiggled its nose
approvingly. Maybe, Anna whispered, this is the tree we've been looking for. A special purpose.
Anna and Joel weren't searching for a tree to cut down. No, they had a different plan.
Our grandmother is sick, Joel explained softly, tying a red ribbon around one of the evergreen's
branches. We want to make something beautiful outside her window, so she can see Christmas joy,
even if she can't leave her bed. The little evergreen's heart leapt. Me? They chose me. The
children returned later, carrying baskets. They hung shiny pinecones dipped in paint,
strings of cranberries, and cookies tied with ribbons. Birds flooded in, chirping happily as
they pecked at the berries. Squirrels scampered close, nibbling the cookies. The little evergreen
glowed with joy. It wasn't tall or grand, but it was now full of life, color, and cheer. The night
of lights. As the sun set, Anna and Joel placed a lantern with a glowing candle beside the tree.
The light flickered warmly, casting golden sparkles across the snow. From her cottage window,
their grandmother peeked out. Her tired eyes widened, and a smile spread across her face.
Oh, how beautiful, she whispered. What a perfect Christmas gift. The little evergreen's branches
lifted high, proud and joyful. My wish came true. I am part of Christmas. Above, the bright star
twinkled once more, as if winking at the little tree. The lesson of the evergreen. On Christmas
Eve, the village children followed Anna and Joel to the forest. They gasped when they saw the
little evergreen. It's so small, one said, but it's so beautiful, another added. Together,
they sang carols around the tree. Their voices filled the forest with music. Silent night,
holy night. The little evergreen listened, its heart bursting with joy. It realized something
wonderful. Christmas wasn't about being tall, grand, or important. Christmas was about love,
kindness, and light. Even the smallest tree, or the smallest heart, could shine brightly
when filled with love. And so, the little evergreen's Christmas wish came true. Not
because it was the tallest tree, but because it became a tree of joy, kindness, and hope for
everyone who saw it.
