FIRST ARROW OF IOWA SEASON

Good shot right, it looked like money, it looked like money.
Alright we're up in the stand, it is very very windy and cold but we're in the Hackberry
tree stand we set up, completely new spot, new food plot this past summer that we filmed
and I'm pretty pumped to finally get a chance to come sit in it.
There's not really a shooter over here but a lot of deer and you just never know, I mean
what could come rolling in.
It's going to be fun, the weather is going to be just right and I think, I think something
is going to die in this next seven days because this cold weather, end of October, end of
early November, it's just like going to be the perfect storm hopefully.
October 26th, I don't know why this happens every single year but it feels like right
around this time we pick up a new farm here in Iowa and all of our attention switches
over to it.
We are heading out there today, I already have a couple cameras out there but we're
going to meet up with Brad and go hang a couple stands and prepping for this week
to come.
It's nasty, it's 66 degrees right now, it's raining, a perfect day to go out, bomb
around, set up a couple spots because tomorrow and into the week it might be the best week
of the entire year, 20 degrees, cold and into Halloween and the first week of November it's
just unreal weather.
Welcome to the first morning set of the year, it's October 28th, finally on to the morning.
We are on the new farm this morning, hunted vertical farm last night, now on this new
farm and we don't have very much set up here at all but this one spot, we're calling
the rattling tree because you can just see so much, we came in here probably a week and
a half ago, a week ago and just kind of cleared a little bit out and put in this rubbing
post, put a scrape branch on top and they have just been annihilating it.
We have this old fence line right here and I think it's just going to create just an
incredible pinch, it's like super open, just like kind of sear pea shrubby stuff behind
this fence line and then ditch and then bedding so we have a stiff north wind so we're about
as good as we can get for wind and access and everything for this spot.
There's one buck we have on camera here that's pretty large, he's got like this really cool
inline point and I think we're going to call him inseam.
So he's around, he daylighted a couple days ago but that's the only photo we have of him
and who else knows what's running around here.
So we're going to sit tight, we've got a doe behind us already and we can see a lot so
I'm sure we'll see a lot of deer.
He's a 10 point on a shooter.
He's kind of working towards that scrape we made in the woods at the money tree.
Yeah not a shooter but it's a good deer.
He smells our ground scent again.
Must be sticking out like a sore thumb.
We do have zero views on this tree.
He is going to be a giant though one day.
Pretty acupec morning.
We saw that stud of a 3 year old and then like another 2, 3 year old 10 and just now
we saw this 8 point, younger 8 point.
But they're moving, they're starting to really, you know, feel like the rut's dang near here.
Oh hey, that's a shooter.
That's the 10.
Yeah he's a 6 by 5 and then on his 5 side that's a split 2 or split 3.
He's not like a for sure I feel like.
That's a good deer, he got me shaking.
My legs are shaking.
Oh man.
If we were feeling risky I probably could have grunted.
He maybe would have came in but I don't, I don't want to be that risky yet.
Alright everyone, October 29.
In the morning we're back on the lease.
Going after Broke G2.
We're giving the new farm a break just for today.
Maybe even just for this morning but we'll see.
We're just bouncing around trying not to, trying not to wear out one spot.
So Broke G2 he has been, he has disappeared for a couple days.
But we just got him again last night.
So he's around at least up in here where we are.
So maybe we'll just get eyes on him which is awesome.
There's actually a lot of cover.
It's gonna be like a toothpick up top.
Part of me wants to do it.
We're doing something really rammy today.
We got up in this tree, I can literally, it's smaller.
Like that's my hand right now.
It is pretty thick on the base and we are about 18, 20 feet up here.
There's literally a trail camera and a scrape right here on this tree.
And Broke G2 or back after Broke G2 hits this every now and again.
And this morning he was heading in to kind of these draws and the cedar thicket right at daylight.
So in my eyes this is more of an observation.
I can see a good ways and maybe we'll just get eyes on him.
But it's also a spot where maybe we'll shoot him.
If we do it's one of those things where it's like, it's stupid until it works.
And that's what we're doing.
Just saw a doe and a fawn.
Pretty much the first deer we've seen since we got in the stand.
I may shoot this doe if it's standing like right there.
Because the truck is right here.
Are you gonna be able to get her?
Yup, dude.
Dude, good video.
Oh man, I can't believe.
That was awesome.
I might shoot her.
That was a good shot right?
It looked like money.
I grabbed my bow like this.
Oh man, that was a fun little doe frenzy.
We got a lot of does on this place.
We just gotta take them all again.
I hope she just didn't run into that ditch.
This won't be easy.
That was fun.
They didn't know we were up here at all.
They went right underneath us.
Doe number one.
Absolutely covered.
Absolutely covered though.
That did the job.
She ran this away.
Beautiful doe.
She was quartering two like that.
And the pin just landed right on her.
So I put it right on her shoulder.
It worked absolutely perfect.
Right in the bottom.
Gosh.
Alright, kinda.
Yeah, perfect shot.
Another big doe.
That's the exit.
Little buck up over there.
