Are you ready for an income tax in Washington state? On Oct. 30, the Washington State Standard reported that Democrats in the state Senate are considering an income tax for the 2026 legislative session. This new tax would be on top of the $9.2 billion in new taxes Democrats passed in 2025 – the largest increase in the history of Washington state. With Washington families already facing some of the highest prices for groceries, child care, and gas in the nation, lawmakers are returning to Olympia for Committee Assembly Days to preview the policies headed our way, including: ▶️A state income tax; ▶️Higher business and occupation taxes; and ▶️No meaningful financial relief for housing, child care , or small businesses. Rep. Peter Abbarno is urging Washingtonians to get engaged before bills start prefiling on December 1. Prefiled bills can be found here: https://app.leg.wa.gov/billinfo/prefiled 👉 Get involved: http://www.HouseRepublicans.wa.gov
Are you ready for a state income tax in
Washington? Well, that's exactly what
Washington Democrats are proposing right
here in Olympia. I'm State
Representative Peter Robbero, the House
Republican Caucus Chair. And I'm in
Olympia getting prepared for committee
assembly days. Committee assembly days
are when legislators come back for their
committees and four caucuses to talk
about policies that we anticipate seeing
and debating in the 2026 legislative
session. We already know that the 2025
legislative session saw the largest tax
increase in Washington state history.
Grocery prices are among the highest in
the nation. Child care costs are among
the highest in the nation and your gas
prices are among the highest in the
nation. Affordability is a huge issue
for every single person in the state of
Washington. The 2026 legislative session
looks like it's could be worse without
your help. There are proposals for an
income tax, increased BNO taxes, and
there's absolutely no relief among
regulations for building new houses, our
child care centers, or anything else
that's going to provide relief for all
of us in the state of Washington. We
need you to get engaged. HouseRPR
Republicans.wah.gov is a website of the
Washington State House Republicans that
will give you tons of information about
our proposals, how you can be engaged in
the process, and how you can help us
stop ads. You can also reach out to me

Committee Assembly Days is a perfect way
to get involved. And in December, we'll
start pre-filing legislation, which
means there will be a lot of bills and
policies that will be filed prior to the
legislative session beginning. So, this
is a perfect time for you to get engaged
not only with House Republicans.wah.gov,
of but at my website
representativepro.com
or any one of the legislators
representing you and your community. We
don't want to see 2026 legislative
session be as bad as the 2025
legislative session. But we need your
help. So to fix Washington, go to house
republicans.wah.gov
and help us pass good policies and stop
bad legislation.
