Driving the amphibious TVR Scamander into Blackpool for its first MOT in 12 years..

Welcome to a new Harry's Garage video and yes we are back in the trough of Bolent on a beautiful day for up here this is really good weather we're in April and it's not normally as calm no wind no rain no nothing and we're with the Scamander again and this video hopefully you've watched the first video when we got it out the barn checked it actually worked since then Joe Wheeler's done a bit more work with it changed the oil gone through it a bit more and today is going to be a big day because we're going for an MOT to make it all road legal again the MOT station well we'll explain in a moment it's a little distance from here so we're going to get going I'm going to call Joe over find out what he's been up to and then we'll head up over the moors here to the MOT so you've done a bit of work to us yeah since we last here yes we've uh yeah made some progress I think uh as you say we've done a full oil service yeah which is not a thing at the moment in this is it no yeah it was underneath it is a it's a bit of a challenge because obviously everything's covered up yeah like a boat yeah like a boat yeah exactly um but funny enough it's actually getting on the ramp is uh right you know we didn't have too much space so it's a bit wide isn't it because we just followed it down the lanes it's surprising that it's yeah yeah why do you think and obviously you don't have the middle sitting in the middle you know it's a bit different to calibrate your brain to you know not to yeah yeah yeah oh dear so it sort of runs all right doesn't it I've just heard it start a few times this morning it just files into life yeah yeah we've been well I've been it's been the vehicle choice to get from A to B around here yeah so it's been it's been it's run it's run okay and it's um which is surprising really but yeah yeah it's been good okay yeah well I was thinking yeah this last tax disc is yeah ran out 11 13 2013 so it hasn't been on the road for a while and it's quite a big day today isn't it really going to get it an MOT well we've gone through it you've got mirrors sort of you've got the cameras haven't you it's got lights yeah we've got everything so uh no reason why why it shouldn't be successful yeah and oh look they're gonna the geese are coming into land look at that they've done that before but the MOT station you want to use the same one we use you used before didn't you yeah so um yeah so the everything which went through TVR yeah which needed MOT um there's a dedicated one yeah in Blackpool in Blackpool yeah how far away is that from here so yeah it'll be about an hour so about 40 miles is it yeah 40 50 yeah yeah yeah yeah it's gonna be a good day isn't it yeah and first of all we have to get it out of here yes yeah yeah the way out's over the moor isn't it yeah that's great yeah good good challenge for i think yeah i think it'll be i think no other vehicles have been over recently so oh right so yeah so hopefully yeah must be successful yeah oh well we've topped it up with water isn't it the only thing we've done this morning is just checked its antifreeze and it's cooler put a litre in it but all is good yeah well we'll head out best way in where best um yeah put on there on there and then you've got a rubber padding on there on there yeah on that side yeah look at this oh it's just perfect i've been yeah i regularly drive a mclaren f1 so yeah so yeah so so yeah central drive yeah drive that a bit then yeah there we are yeah jump in yeah you might as well jump in yeah so master's on so you've just got the ignition on the top there which is that one yep oh that's that's yeah fans go all the time no no you can see you've got a fan there so you can turn it on and off well let's turn that off just while we're just going yeah yeah um got your lights up there right um and then you've got your jets for down here and then you've actually got yeah yeah and your bilge pump and then you've also got a two-stage oh and performance yeah i would have thought your dad ever did eco but yeah yeah yeah so and you've got insides you've got your inside inside fans right and then you've got your indicators on the wheel uh what these yeah so yeah all right oh you can see them inside that mirror yeah you can see it yeah all right okay um and then you've got your windscreen wipers down this side good yeah this is pretty for putting everything on the wheel isn't it i think yeah 2008 and uh and these ones high beams flash yeah you flash flash to get people out the way right yeah right all we need now is engine then where's that so it's a big start one yeah put on brakes or just start so it starts it try that's fine that wasn't a surprise at all yeah yeah right okay and then you've got your your gears on the top so the red is park and then you've got green so it'll change on you so put your foot on the brake yeah so you've got green is reverse blue is neutral and then you've got your gears for one two and three oh really as well yeah you probably won't be able to see those on camera and the speed speed arrives so so those fans ought to go all the time i'm gonna say sound might be a bit tricky in this thing because we're not mic'd up at the moment yeah we better get going a bit of gentle off-roading quite amazing isn't it how smooth this is it has a serious amount of suspension travel yeah i guess there shouldn't be too much traffic down here should we oh well i hope yeah it'll be a bit surprising so then the sun and the tank is still alive there's nothing really to hit underneath is there with this thing yeah it's not too bad this is just the right size for it yeah you've got some nasty rocks just on the side yeah they're out the way from normal cars right it's just the width of the width just touches them not a lot of passing places up this track is it no it's um yeah that's a bit of a disaster yeah oh i see that is a bit of a challenge just getting out of here then isn't it yeah you've got a river i can't really boot it for that because that looks quite vertical on the way down yeah it's really quite steep so i'll go steady the steady approach yeah it should it should grip up walks it bloody walks through tarmac mode yeah good speedo up there yeah that's right indicate the right wheel upside down yeah yeah there we are uh yeah if you follow you have to carry on t-station well that was exciting i mean it runs all right doesn't it yeah yeah well it's done a decent trip now isn't it yeah waiting just gotta get it in there now good well quite a trip quite a trip ran couldn't have asked for more than that really you know oh yeah it's the way that ran really good i've just got to get an mot now yeah yeah well it looks it works as well as it ever well there's been a slight hiccup on the mot because when we brought it here they're going to do the mot and then we discovered that the scamander was too wide to go on the ramp so it actually went off somewhere else joe's in it are now waiting for him to get back and yeah he should be here any minute the other thing i want to just explain is what this place is if you just swing around charlie what this is is the old tvr factory this is where it was this is one of the old assembly halls you can go down there and that's where peter's office was as a building it's not there anymore and now it's coming called the wheeler hub and if you go down there it's all sort of purple colors and this factory tvr factory sites is now turning into this industrial unit and also there's um quite a number of units already all modern ones down there but this is what's happening at the factory now the old tvr factory it's also where the scamander was built in 2007 2008 anyway come on joe i want to know what's going on look at that joe 451 miles an mot excellent well the way it ran down it did seem like it didn't it yeah yeah no yeah no issues on the way down no quite well we better dream up some adventures haven't we for this thing we have we ought to give away one thing this car has one thing booked if this mot came through and that is he's got an entry to this year's london concourse in the centre of london so yeah we've got to tidy it up a bit haven't we i think but uh yeah next stop yeah city of london i think it's yeah 4th and 6th of june so if you want to see the scamander in london those are the dates yeah good stuff joe right anyway we've got a few things to get there it's got to get down to my place it's got to get into london that sort of thing so there you go there's the update on the surrender we have an mot we can do things with the skiranda we can go anywhere so we want to do more than that as well this car but i hope you enjoyed this video bringing off the malls down into blackpool and
