Hi guys and welcome back to another video with The Omega Enthusiast.
Have you ever wondered how did some of the earliest vintage Omega wristwatches look like?
Well, on today's video, I will show you one example dating all the way back to 120 years ago.
So, what I have here is possibly one of the oldest Omega wristwatch with the Omega name
on the dial, dating to 1900 according to its movement serial number. According to my research,
the earliest Omega wristwatch with the Omega name on the dial is in fact first introduced
it in the year 1900. I normally would not buy a watch of this age due to many reasons. One would
be majority of what I can find appears like a pocket watch converted into a wristwatch. The
case would have a hinge similar to a hunter pocket watch case. I bought this piece since it looks
like an actual wristwatch. Like most watches of this era, the dial is made of porcelain,
which is very fragile to crack. The old metal case on this watch is still in excellent condition.
Snap-on case back instead of a hinge flip open case back. The case dimension is 32.3 millimeters
in diameter excluding the crown by 42 millimeters from lug tip to lug tip. Since the case has Y
type lugs, I have decided to install this one piece handmade strap matching the watch perfectly.
Inside the watch, you'll find a signed case back and the manual Y movement is an Omega
caliber 12 line, which I have serviced it and keeping very good time. If you're interested
