Jesse just finished sweeping the floor, but he noticed that there were some sticky areas that
just won't get clean. Today, we will learn how to get those sticky spots to go away. With a mop.
When should we use a mop? Sometimes, floors get sticky or dirty spots on them from things like
food, drink, mud, or dirt. These spots can't be cleaned with a broom, but there's another tool
we can use to get floors sparkling clean again. A mop. A mop can get sticky spots and liquid
spills cleaned up quickly. If you do spill liquid, you'll probably need to dry some of it with a towel
or paper towel first, and then use the mop to clean up the rest. Some people use a mop and
a bucket of water to mop the floor. Other people may use a mop that sprays cleaning solution onto
the floor, or a steam mop. Whatever kind of mop you use, the steps will be the same. First, get a mop
and any other supplies needed. Depending on what kind of mop you have, you may need to fill a bucket
with water, or make sure the mop has enough cleaning solution in it. Next, start in a corner
of the room. The corner of a room is where two walls meet. We start in a corner of the room
because we are going to work backwards to avoid stepping on the wet floor. To avoid something
means we keep ourselves from doing it. Then, moving backwards, mop the entire floor surface.
Stepping on wet floors can make dirty footprints, so we try to avoid that by working backwards.
Mopping is a little like using a broom, but we may have to press against the floor a little harder
to get tough spots off the floor. Finally, put the mop and other supplies away. Before you do,
you might need to empty a bucket of water or take a used mop pad off the bottom of your mop.
Alright, let's review. First, get a mop and any other supplies needed. Next, start in a corner
of the room. Then, moving backwards, mop the entire floor surface. Finally, put the mop and
other supplies away. Now, that mops everything up. Jesse earned his Master Mopper Badge.
You can work on your mopping skills and earn your badge too. See you later!
