Wake up, Ninas!
Good morning, guys!
Good morning!
Today is Monday, September 8th.
7.14am and it is my first official day of online college.
I honestly didn't think that I would ever be saying that
because I didn't think that I was ever gonna do college.
I just, it wasn't something that I thought I was gonna do.
But yeah, I'm starting classes today.
I'm sure it's probably gonna be like pretty easy
because in my experience, when I went to high school,
back when I went to high school, back in those days,
I remember that the first week of classes,
and especially like the first day, was usually pretty easy.
So I'm hoping that today won't be too much work
because I actually have my best friend who is long distance.
My long distance best friend, Eva.
She's visiting me for an entire week and she's here right now.
She's actually sleeping because I wanted to get up early
and like have a little bit of time to just like do nothing,
basically, before we actually get started with the day.
I know that this week with starting all my classes
and then I have a bunch of other stuff,
it might get a little bit chaotic if I'm not careful.
So I want to make sure that I'm like stopping...
Stop. I need to stop.
Starting off the day right.
One thing I will say is,
I don't have a lot of my books for school yet.
I was trying to order them yesterday.
I think I have them all ordered,
but like they could take one to two weeks to come,
which could be an issue.
I'm really hoping that it's not an issue.
But yeah, that's what's going on.
I'm just gonna wait a little bit
for everyone else to start waking up.
It's probably gonna be pretty soon
because I think they said they were gonna wake up at 7.30.
So I'm just gonna hang out for a little bit.
And then once they wake up, specifically Eva,
we are gonna do something fun to start off the day.
In the morning, a hungry munchkin makes her breakfast.
Okay.
Guess who I'm here with?
Guys, she just woke up.
And I also basically just woke up.
No, she didn't.
She woke up like three hours ago.
So just give me no mic.
It has no mic.
But we are going to...
Stretching.
We're downtown in the city and it's a beautiful morning.
And it's actually so nice out.
It's so nice.
I'm like so happy.
Every day, it's been like warm and musty.
So we've been waiting for it to be full.
Humidity has literally been at like 10.
And it's actually a little bit full today.
Yeah.
And so we don't really know what to expect with this class.
We know that it's an old lady instructor.
So I feel like she's gonna be a boss.
I think it's gonna be good.
I think it'll be nice to have some stretching.
So we're just gonna go into this class.
Anyway, we might be late to the class.
Actually, we're not even late.
No, we're not.
We're not even late.
We're literally on time.
Okay, bye.
Bye.
So we moved to LA.
My father gets a job at the Palm Restaurant.
My uncle junior works there who is a Jehovah's Witness.
Believe it or not.
He went from Catholic to Jehovah.
I got these really cute little.
There are so many.
I'm gonna try to use them to actually get ready.
I don't think it's gonna work.
But you do too.
I'll do too.
Wait.
Wait, it kind of works.
It kind of works.
Low key.
I like them.
I would use these.
Like they're kind of cute.
Yes.
Okay, we just finished getting ready.
We're gonna go to a coffee shop.
And she has some work to do.
Emily's also gonna come with us.
She's still picking out her outfit.
But I think today is also her first day.
Right, Emily?
Yeah, today's her first day of school too.
So we're both gonna be starting our stuff.
And we'll also get a coffee.
I don't know whose hair this is.
It's like blonde and kind of blonde.
Hopefully my school won't be hard.
And hopefully we can get everything done.
I'm gonna get started with my classes.
Here's the lineup that I have for this year.
Okay, so I have three classes.
I have a psychology class.
Which I'm really excited for.
Because I did psychology in high school.
And that was very fascinating to me.
So I think that's just gonna be like interesting.
It's something I'm excited about.
And then I have like a communications class.
I lost track and then I chugged it.
And I didn't realize.
I think someone liked their coffee.
We made a challenge yesterday.
Let's try to talk to each other and compliment each other.
Without murping and like talking weird.
I can't.
I just want to go, you're so cute.
Um, yeah.
So I have the psychology class.
The communications class.
I'm forgetting like the specific name of it right now.
But it's like it has a name.
And then I'm also doing Mary Kate and Ashley.
You?
Me when we're kind of cute.
Like would you ask for my number though?
Like if you saw me.
And then we also have the class that I'm dreading the absolute most.
Which is algebra.
College algebra.
It's actually been two years since I've done math.
Because I didn't have to do math my senior year of high school.
And then I took a gap year.
So I haven't done math in a long time.
And basically the other week I went to the college campus.
To take like their placement test.
To see what class I get placed in.
I didn't study for it.
I didn't prepare.
So I just went in.
And I sat there for the entire two hours.
The entire duration of the test.
Literally like on the verge of tears.
Trying my best.
Like I was remembering some of them.
But a lot of them I was not remembering.
How to do like the most basic algebra subtraction questions.
So I think I just need to refresh.
Like I think it's going to come back to me.
Because I did pretty well with math in school.
I never liked it.
But like I'm just kind of scared.
Because I'm like this might actually be terrifying.
I might actually flop the class.
But I think math is required for like most degrees.
Even though I don't even know what degree I'm going for yet.
Everything will be okay.
Okay we got lunch.
We have empanada.
Uh plantains.
Chickens.
Rice and beans.
Salad.
Allegedly these are plantains.
Right?
But you don't know what that was.
I think it's.
I don't know.
And then we have these yucca fries.
That's good.
I'm going to try some of this yucca.
Okay guys we made a little pit stop.
We decided that we want to do some pottery painting.
Because we just realized that we did this like a few years ago.
And it's just a really fun activity.
It's like really really cute pottery place.
And we're going to paint some pottery together.
We're both going to do like a wing.
It's going to be a good time.
As you can tell we're like super sweaty.
Because it's literally like 90 degrees.
90 degrees um Fahrenheit by the way.
I'm doing a little ring dish to put my rings in.
So I'm doing kind of.
I'm doing like a quilty pastel vibe.
Because that's going to be like the vibe of my wedding.
So I'm kind of matching that freak.
Because in case you didn't know she's engaged.
Check the bling.
And I'm going to be making a little dish.
I think I'm going to put mangoes in it.
Hey I'm not doing anything.
I'm just watching.
You look so cute.
It's looking more like.
It's looking really cute.
But I think I'm going to try to like add some textures.
And then maybe when I add the leaves.
And maybe when it's like actually goes to the curl.
I mean the furnace.
The kindle.
What's it called?
Oh my gosh.
Wait.
Ew.
They just look like fat bananas.
Oh my gosh.
Guess where we're currently on the way to?
Because Eve has never been to New York.
And as you guys know I'm a New York City fiend.
I think I'm going to love it.
She's gonna love it.
And it's only a three hour train ride.
So we're on the train right now.
Emily's also with us.
But we couldn't find three seats.
And yeah.
So we're on the train.
We got our coffee.
And we got coffee.
It's 8 a.m.
8 30.
And who are we with?
Like six.
Yeah.
But we have a pretty full agenda today.
Because obviously we got to hit all the spots while Eve is here.
And we're also seeing the Broadway show.
And we're also meeting up with our friend Gavin which.
So we were all friends in like the 2020 era.
Because we didn't have anything to do.
So we were all YouTubers together.
And they had a great time.
And FaceTimed all the time.
But I've just never met him before.
Because I live in North Carolina.
And anymore.
So I'm kind of just a random.
Hold on.
Let me pull that face card out.
What face card?
This one.
Wait you look good.
Why do you look good?
Which one should we take?
Myself.
Let's do a takeout.
We are the most annoying people ever on this train.
I'm so sorry.
This guy beside us is like,
Marissa I love your brows.
Okay.
I feel like I haven't really explained anything that's going on.
Basically we,
it's been two days since I officially started school.
And you might be like,
why are you on a train instead of doing school?
And basically because I'm going online.
And because it's my first week.
And because I don't have a lot of work my first week.
That looks good.
Raspberry juice.
Is it good?
Oh my god.
The color.
This might actually go feral.
Oh my god.
We just went to the Jelly Cat,
or it's not the Jelly Cat store,
but it's like in a toy store.
And they have a Jelly Cat diner.
And I'm really sad that we weren't able to spend any time there
because we're kind of in a rush to get our Broadway show.
And we have like all the things that we're trying to see
because obviously it's Ava's first time.
But then we're kind of in a rush and like with the timeline.
Sorry, I just had a huge brain fart.
I love this.
Well, should we go to the Broadway show?
Yeah, I think so.
So that's it.
Something smells really yummy.
We're gonna go see Babystown,
which me and Emily actually saw that about a year and a half ago.
But when we were looking at Broadway tickets,
we kind of booked everything a little bit late.
And so there wasn't a lot available.
And also we knew that was a good show.
We know Ava's gonna like it.
So we're gonna go there.
I think the show's about like three hours long.
So then we have dinner plans after that.
And like low-key, the day's going by so fast.
And I'm kind of wishing that we would have done like an overnight trip
because we could spend so much time here and do a lot of stuff.
But also we're having lots of fun and we're seeing lots of things.
So yeah.
And I got an umbrella.
It's like actually hardly even raining.
But I feel cool carrying the umbrella and I like it.
We're here.
We kind of have a really high up view.
So it's gonna be definitely a different like perspective.
We're romanticizing it.
We're just romanticizing everything.
The rain? Romanticize it.
Pretend you're on a roller coaster.
The really high up seat where you can hardly see the stage?
Romanticize it.
No, it's a way that if you were scared of heights,
this actually would be scary.
It's like way higher up than I thought it would be.
Let me just show you guys.
I feel like it doesn't look that high up.
It is high up though.
Way high.
Yeah.
It's so pretty.
This is Eva's first Broadway show.
So what do you think you're gonna think?
I'm so excited.
I'm curious to see how well I can follow the plot
because sometimes I struggle with that.
But I also really like shows and stuff.
And I also have no earthly idea,
not even an ounce of what this is about, this play.
So I'm curious to follow along.
Thoughts on the show?
I love it here.
It was really good, actually.
I liked it a lot more than Hamilton.
And I thought the music was good.
Subtle diss.
No, I just liked it better, that's all.
I really, really liked the show.
I was kind of hesitant going into it
because it was like different actors than last time.
So I was like, they're not even gonna be good.
But they were actually amazing.
And I had such a good time.
And now we're gonna go to dinner with Gavin.
And he's gonna take us on the subway,
which is gonna be maybe crazy,
but I think it's gonna be really fun.
So I'm actually so excited to go on the subway.
I haven't been on the subway in like two years.
I love New York!
Wedgings I'm made of
Almost got hit by a bus
Any words of wisdom?
Just like bust it down and have fun.
This is my special secret message.
This one specific chicken gets out every single-
Oh, hey girl!
This one specific chicken gets out every single day.
She's right here.
And she's super tame.
Like, she doesn't mind getting picked up
and put back in the pen.
And she acts like she wants-
Like, do you see her right now?
She's acting like she wants to get back in there.
Oh!
She doesn't normally run away!
Here she is!
Bad girl.
Anyways!
If you're wondering why I'm all of a sudden
Old MacDonald and I have a farm,
it's just my family.
I feel like I never show this part of my life
or like of my family on here.
But I realized it's kind of fun
because we have a lot of random animals.
And I actually grew up on a farm.
And so it's just like in my DNA,
in my family's DNA,
to have animals-
It's okay!
I'm right here!
It's okay!
Whenever we leave her-
Okay, so basically we just got this goat.
And I don't really have an explanation
as to why we have her
other than that my dad really wanted to get a goat.
And so one day, a few weeks ago,
he came home with her
just like in the back of his car.
I'm the one taking care of all the animals this morning
because nobody else is home.
Except for me.
I decided to borrow Emily's sweater
and she's not here.
She's at work.
So I'm hoping she doesn't get mad
when she sees I'm wearing it.
I literally am like scared for myself today
because I've been having the worst brain fog.
Like I'll go to say a sentence
and I don't remember what I'm saying.
I'm not always the best at remembering
but it's just been extra bad today
and the past few days.
And especially when I'm filming,
I notice it because I want to like
have fully articulated sentences
but I can't like verbalize my thoughts.
And it's scaring me.
It's actually terrifying me.
Basically, I need to get started
with my school for the day
because I have some school to do.
Surprise!
I have school to do.
I don't know if I explained it this morning
but it's actually been a few weeks
since I started school.
I think I'm on week four or five
which is crazy to say.
It's going by so fast.
But I, yeah.
You know, let me just sit down
and talk with you guys a little bit.
I do have a little confession
that I need to make to you guys.
I don't know if this is embarrassing or not
because I don't really know like,
I don't know how it rolls in college.
I don't know what the procedures are.
But basically, I did decide to drop the math class.
So I dropped that.
That was feeling extremely overwhelming for me
and I don't even know.
Okay, so on that note,
I don't even know.
And this feels embarrassing to say also
but you know what?
I feel like I want to be honest with you guys.
I am still trying to figure out
like what degree I'm working towards
or like what the heck I'm doing in college.
I don't really know.
Like I just knew I wanted to learn
and so I just wanted to jump in
but it was kind of a last minute decision for me.
So I still don't know what degree I'm working towards
or what my long-term goals are.
And so I feel like I'm such a mess with that
and I want to get myself together and figure that out.
But because I don't know what I'm working towards,
I like don't know how to explain myself.
I just basically, I dropped the math class.
It was feeling really overwhelming.
I'll probably take it if I would
and I need to take it.
I'll take it over the summer,
maybe next semester
once I feel like I have a little bit more of a rhythm
going with taking classes.
But right now, it's been a learning curve
trying to get back into managing my schedule well,
especially with everything that I do,
being on a laptop and being at home.
It can definitely feel hard to manage my time
and to like just get everything done.
But I feel like I have been getting a lot better
the past few weeks.
And so now I'm also trying to figure out
how to fit social media back into that
because I feel like I've been really bad
with like filming videos in the midst of everything
and also trying to do a lot of stuff with friends
and like have weekend trips.
So there's kind of a lot of things I'm trying to manage
but it's really fun
and I'm feeling very grateful
and a little bit disappointed in myself
that I had to drop that.
I guess I didn't have to
but that I decided to drop the math class
like I just really don't consider myself
to be someone that's a quitter
and I felt like such a loser quitter for dropping that
even though I can take it again,
it's college, it didn't affect my grades.
But then also some of my friends
they take like four or five classes in college
and I'm like, what the heck,
like how are you guys doing this?
Because right now I have two
and it does feel pretty manageable
but I don't know, I could just,
once I had that third one on there,
also like math, it really is just like so hard for me.
It's just like my actual worst subject
and so I felt really overwhelmed
and I feel like I need to
maybe take a math class in person
and actually have somebody explain it to me
because when I'm trying to teach myself,
which like I know that
me realizing I've been ranting about that for five minutes
and like probably no one actually cares.
Okay, I, whoa, I look like an actual pumpkin.
Oh my gosh.
I wanted to give you guys a little bit of
kind of a school setup,
what's in my backpack type of vibe.
So I've been doing my school
in our dining room a lot of the time
and because I also really love how
my mom has to decorate for fall.
She has it all cozy in here.
What I need to work on today
is I need to read two chapters in this book
and this is only because
I miscalculated with my planning last week
with going to my cousin's wedding
and did I mention I went to a wedding?
I'm forgetting if I mentioned that
but I went to my cousin's wedding last week
and so that like made me a little bit behind.
So I have to read two chapters in this textbook
and then take the quizzes that go with them
but the thing is this textbook,
I'm not even kidding,
some of the pages,
some of the chapters have 100 pages in the chapter
and so reading two chapters in one full swoop
is kind of a daunting task
especially because my attention span
isn't always the best
and like it's also just overwhelming
to be learning all the information at once
and so what I've been doing,
okay I have been reading them
like sometimes if I have enough time
I'll read through the whole chapter
but a lot of the time what I'm doing
is just like highlighting or annotating the textbook
because I did buy the textbook
and then making like a quizlet
with some of the key terms
because you can kind of tell
what the key terms are
based on what the teacher teaches in the lesson
and then also on like what the rules
also the main thing that has really really been helping me
the past few weeks
get into a good rhythm
and get everything done on time
and just not be stressed
is having a planner
I got this planner from Paypeer
it has my name on it
which I really like
and I just think it's so cute
and having this is actually changing the game for me
and it seems so simple and cliche
like okay you have a planner like
but genuinely having this planner
and being able to like divvy out the assignments
throughout the week
and like know what's coming up
and having it all written down
is really helping me
just to stay on top of everything
