Nicole de ROSA (ITA) | Junior Women Free Skating | Gdansk 2025

Our next skater represents Italy, Nicole De Rosa. And now we're heading into the top 20 skaters after the short program. Nicole struggled with a triple loop, but she has ambitious content now as well. 15 years old. She takes her starting point. She'll skate to Tree of Life Suite. Italy's Nicole De Rosa completes a free skate. Now Ted, this of course had mistakes, but to me, if you were to rewatch the opening of this program before the first technical element, such beautiful, beautiful movement, artistic sensibility and really stunning line from Nicole De Rosa. Yeah, you have to park the mistakes. I mean, the judge won't. Yeah. You know, but you have to park the mistakes to see the abilities and core abilities that she has, the strengths that she has already in her development. It wasn't a great night for her technically, but she's a beautiful skater. Oh, look at this. Yeah, lovely, lovely. Paying attention to the music, the phrasing. So we take a look at the triple salchow. Great speed coming in. Lovely triple salchow up into a double axel. It was a beautiful opening combination. Really gorgeous. And here is the triple loop. And this was a lean. And that was when the problem started to unravel part of the program. Triple toe loop a little bit later does get that done into a double toe double loop, but it was messy as well. But she is not a messy skater. She's a very good skater. But on this night, she's just lost the balance. Lost a little bit of confidence partway through the program. Beautiful spin with an exit. Lovely skater, dramatic as well. And for Nicole DeRosa, she's an example for those watching of when a clean skate can really accelerate the overall score. She won the Sonia Henney trophy and she scored over 100 points in her free skate, but she had five clean triples on this occasion. That wasn't the case. But certainly a skater with the component quality that she has, she's capable of having a huge variation in her score. And hopefully she will amass more confidence knowing that she's capable of quality to deliver those kind of things. This is so nice and so encouraging for us to see for everyone who's watching to see the depth of abilities. That doesn't mean that the skaters are skating clean. We're calling like it is when you have a fall, you have a fall when you've got mistakes, the under rotations, which is what we're talking about. But look past the falls and recognize the qualities. And when there isn't quality or when the skating skills need work, you mentioned that, of course. But this is a skater that possesses a beautiful emotion to music. Wonderful skating quality. Eighty three point two four for the program. That is for she had a rough night. A number of mistakes that cost her a lot of points. But overall, she's a very strong skater. One twenty six point five four. That'll put Nicole into third place overall, at least for the moment. Her total competition score is one hundred twenty six point fifty four. She is currently in third place.
