The first time that this tree has so many olives. I'm very happy about that.
Unfortunately it's not enough to make my own oil, but I did that last year and I got two liters out
of it. Good morning, so after we cut down this tree we're gonna plant some new trees today.
Let's pick the spots for them and Felix is gonna help me with that.
So first the apple tree is gonna go over here where the old apple tree has died.
When we came back to Portugal we stopped at a tree nursery and picked up
two fruit trees, two oleanders and five other local bushes.
So here we are on a small terrace with a big old olive tree.
First we have to cut away three. So I'm gonna take out the brambles around.
So far we didn't see any mice holes. Okay now we put compost there.
I usually make the hole wet. Luckily we have water right here. First we need a stick
to accompany the tree.
So let's go to the forest, find some eucalyptus sticks to accompany this tree and also to make
a fence for a second tree that we're gonna plant. To get to my forest we have to clean the path
again. Those are invasive acacias that need to be cut down.
Now we can pick a young eucalyptus to take down. Eucalyptus is super durable.
That was really close to the camera. Oopsie. We need one more.
This little ruin stands in my forest and Felix cleared it
properly for the first time ever. Looks so different now.
Okay time to go home.
Of course people go home. Winter is coming so we're gonna make the first fire here.
I didn't light this fire since spring. Well if the fire starts I'm happy.
The cozy winter days start now.
So I brought some argan oil from Morocco and I'm gonna put it in these little bottles as presents.
So argan oil you can use for your hair, skin care, it's anti-aging, very moisturizing.
And in Morocco you can just buy a whole bottle for like 15 euros which is incredible.
Okay number one.
Next one. Yeah real Moroccan gold.
Nice isn't it? Yeah. We got our skin care for today.
There are still some peppers on here.
So many vitamins.
Some rosemary is also good.
It's a very rainy day and we're cooking on the wood burner. It's super cozy. Perfect pepper.
Quite a lot from the garden now. Only the onion is from the supermarket. You have to eat some raw.
So much fun. Oh this is a lot. Now the pesto.
Hmm.
Hello beauty. I don't know how to help her out of there but I think she's quite happy there.
I love toads. An early morning rainbow. I can't believe it.
Finally a day of sunshine. We were really waiting for the sun now because the battery
is really low at the moment. It was much too rainy yesterday so
we were completely soaked and stopped and today we will continue.
I have to take these off so that it will grow on the top. Okay it's bound to its new best friend.
Welcome apple bravo. It's a Portuguese kind that's local here and hopefully
likes it a lot in this climate.
The lady at the tree nursery told us that the soil here needs a higher pH value and to achieve
that we bought some special lime. For the first seven years of the tree's life we're gonna put
this there every year. Well protected against storms, deer and wild boars. Next we're gonna
plant a pear tree and we decided this spot for it. Right here on the hill. Man so many rocks.
Big rock party. I tried to sharpen the post with an axe but it's just too much work. I'm gonna get
search for some stone plates. I still have a lot from the old stone floor in the bathroom.
Wow a real throne. Okay I'll get some water.
Okay so we look for some more big stones.
Tree with bench. Water from the top here. Yay the pear tree has a beautiful home. Now we also have
to build a protecting fence around it. Yeah now it looks like a real house.
Now just the wire and it's done. Almost there.
We did it. That took so long. Now where should I put the oleander? I think I'm gonna plant them
on this road here. The weather gods are not so kind today but we're still gonna plant the rest
of the bushes now. Oh friends the Dutch family are coming back. No we were at the pool asking if we
wanted to play pool with them. So we went to the bar and put it at the cabin. But they didn't have
the brownies anymore so we chose something else with chocolate. Sounds great. So we were at the
park after and then we met some people. Why not? I can play football. I'm really good at it.
Yeah suddenly it started. Yeah I put my wet shoes on the balcony.
Thank you.
So we put it on that side of the wall so that they can grow bigger without
making this path more narrow.
hills here. So that's them. They are called medronjus. I think in English strawberry fruit.
Number two. Five medronju babies.
We did what we wanted to do today. Nine plants are in. Yeah that's enough for today. It's raining.
Thanks for being here. Have a wonderful week.
