Are you expecting guests this Christmas
or maybe you're hosting Thanksgiving
or maybe you're watching this video
because you're just tired of rushing around in December
and spending too much money?
Well, this is Minimalist Christmas 2025.
Today, we are talking about getting guests ready.
Got some Christmas planning for you
and a little festive,
some little festive wellbeing moments for you.
So if you're ready for that, let's dive in.
Diana Demmer here, rah, rah, rah.
If you're new here, I am a cheerleader here on YouTube,
walking you through Minimalist Christmas 2025,
keeping it very simple.
Each week, we're focusing in on tidying,
cozying up a different area of our home.
We've also got some Christmas prep
and I give you some self-care tips.
So let's dive straight into it.
If you missed the previous weeks, don't worry.
I've got links to those
and there's a free printable for each week.
We've been previously working on our bedrooms.
We have been in the living room.
We have been in the hall.
Last week was the kitchen.
So can you guess where we are this week
for our cozying and tidying and cleaning?
Yeah, I think you've guessed it.
We're in Flylady Zone 3,
which is the bathroom plus one other room.
This week, that is going to be, at least for me,
I'm going to be concentrating on guest bedrooms.
Anyway, let's get into it.
Let me just get my glasses on.
Start by freshening up the bathroom
and think of how you would like it to look,
even if you've not got guests.
How would you like it to look
to look really welcoming for you and your family?
So we're just going to do a few things.
As I always say, at the beginning of the week,
I like to set a timer.
Where's my trusty timer?
I set my timer for 15 minutes
and you can really get a lot done in 15 minutes
when you concentrate.
I've got body doubling videos.
If you want me to work along with you,
I chat along the way.
And I have an inspiration list.
Now, you've not to do all of these things,
but just pick one or two things to do.
And what I would really suggest that you do this week,
first of all, take a quick look around the room.
What can be decluttered?
We just want to clear off the flat surfaces.
Have you got shampoo bottles that are empty?
Maybe a perfume or shampoo that you don't like?
You've only used it a couple of times.
Put that in your bag for donations
or for your next swap party.
We're just going to clear off the flat surfaces
and give everything a quick wipe down
because, you know, just a quick scoosh-scoosh
with some glass cleaner, wipe down the mirrors.
It really makes the place feel really nice and fresh.
Check things like towels.
Do you have enough for your guests?
Are things looking in good shape?
Maybe you want to wash the bath mat.
We have a glass-walled shower,
but if you've got a shower curtain,
now is the time to give that a really good clean and wash.
Get that changed over.
Give the place a really good vacuum.
And then my little reward for doing that when I finish
is I like to shop my house and add a few hygge touches.
So maybe you've got a fake plant in another room
that you can move things around.
I also like to have the candles in the bathroom.
That's an LED candle.
And I love that one because it's one from Ikea
and it's on a timer switch.
So you can set it for three hours or six hours.
And once you've set it,
it goes on and off at the same time every day.
Love that for my morning shower
because in the morning it's so dark here
and then I don't want to put on the big light.
Let me just show you.
Ooh, that's too much when I first wake up.
So I like to keep things dark
and have my share by candle light.
And for your extra room this week,
I would like you to have a look at your guest bedroom.
Now, we talked about that earlier in the series.
If you've got guests coming,
do you need to declutter in there?
Check the bed linens.
Do you want to add in some extra cushions from another room?
Make it look cozy?
What would you like it to look like
if you were staying there as a guest?
You know, maybe you just need to move things to the side.
Make sure that you've got some extra space for suitcases
or for them to hang things up.
Just spend a few minutes getting that room guest ready.
Right, and then let's get on to our Christmas planning,
which is this week about getting guests ready,
wrapping up all the details.
So we've talked about guest bedrooms.
If the guests are going to be here for maybe a festive meal,
are they staying longer than just an evening or a day?
We talked about that before.
What about lunches, dinners?
Let's get those things written down on our lists.
You don't need to do it all today,
but just think about those things.
And who is coming to stay?
Is there a baby coming to stay?
Do you need to borrow a pram or a stroller or a crib?
Have you got pets coming to stay?
My son's bringing his cats.
And we've got some cat supplies here,
but I'm going to check those so we're not caught out.
And last week, we were talking about gifts.
If you're making the gifts,
I'm well on the way with that now.
And you may think, well, I don't, you know,
I've done all my gift shopping or we don't give any gifts.
We give very few gifts.
That's why I'm doing the homemade ones this year.
But, you know, often we are caught out
because suddenly you're invited somewhere,
you need a hostess gift,
or maybe there's a secret Santa thing at the office
or your kids need something.
Think about that this week.
Is there anything that you can buy?
For example, last time we were at our Swedish cabin,
we have a Swedish summer house, a little cabin.
And when I was at the Swedish supermarket,
I stocked up on Swedish Christmas biscuits,
you know, tin boxes of biscuits, paper kakor.
And I like to have those ready and wrapped
so that if I'm suddenly invited something,
I'm not scrambling for a gift at the last minute.
So think about that.
You need some kind of last minute teacher's gift
or something for a church, or as I said, hostess gift.
Let's get those ready now
so that we're not scrambling at the last minute.
And also things like, you know, batteries, torches,
any of those things, get them down on your list.
And then onto my favorite part, the wellbeing.
And why do I say this to you every week?
I tell you to look after you
because the problem is when you're not looking after you,
especially at this time of year,
when there's so many practical things to be done,
we tend to forget to take breaks and we're just go, go, go.
At this time of year, I know certainly for me,
I'm more tired, things take a little more time
because it is colder, it's darker.
And it could be the opposite for you
in the Southern Hemisphere where it's super hot
and you find that very tiring.
So a few self-care ideas for you.
Here's the first one is,
I want you to pencil in something festive for you to do,
whether that is with your family,
whether it is with one of your best friends,
or you do it on your own.
Because at this time of year,
we tend to get focused in on all the practical things
that we need to do that we forget
to actually enjoy what is going on.
So what is that for you?
Let me know, is it going to see a pantomime?
Are you going to a Christmas market?
I'll tell you some of the things that I've got planned.
I went to a Christmas market with my bestie,
Erica from America.
We went to one of the Christmas markets here in Denmark.
And I'm not looking to buy anything,
but it's just nice to get into the spirit of things.
Maybe have a glass of hot glug, warmed wine.
I'm also hosting a cookie exchange,
just a very informal one for some of my friends.
I'm going to make some soup
and then they're going to bring some cookies
and we'll taste those.
So plan something festive for yourself.
Right, second one, and I know we've mentioned this before,
and I know you're going to say, yes, mum.
I know that I have to do that,
is to get to bed a wee bit earlier this week.
As I said, we're all feeling a wee bit more tired.
And when you are rested, you feel so much better.
Your batteries are recharged.
So get to bed a wee bit earlier.
Maybe you're going to read a chapter
of a nice festive magazine or some festive reading.
I'm onto the festive cosy crimes at the moment,
cosy mysteries, those are my favourite.
And I'll do a little video about that
as we get closer to Christmas.
And the third one, which is fly lady zone three,
the bathroom related.
This week, I want you to take time
to maybe have a bubble bath.
When was last time, you know, if you've got a bath,
when was last time you had a bubble bath?
You don't need to do it last thing at night.
You could, if you're at home during the day,
have a bubble bath during the day.
I like to have a kind of pamper shower in the morning.
As I said, in the morning, I like to have the dark,
darkness, not the brightness.
And I have the candles going.
And I use a couple of drops of essential oils.
I put it on the shower wall.
And then when the water hits it,
I just feel like I'm in a spa.
Don't use essential oils if you've got pets or allergies
or, you know, kids, be very careful with them.
But I think this week I will be using,
I love orange and vanilla.
That's what I'm going to be using.
So let me know what it is going to be for the self-care.
And I hope that you're seeing
that we're just spending a few minutes each week
on the cleaning and tidying, decluttering,
getting things a little bit cozy,
not just for guests, but for ourselves.
I hope you're seeing that.
And I'm getting a lot of comments.
Thank you to everybody who's commented so far,
saying that you're feeling better this year.
You're following along with videos
that the principles have been helpful to you.
And as I said, if you've missed the principles, don't worry.
They're on my blog, dianedenmark.com.
They're all free.
I never do any sponsored content.
There's no adverts in the middle of my videos.
And it's just a way to get ready and feel calm and cozy.
So anyway, I'm going to get on with my day.
My tea is now completely cold,
but I hope you have a fantastic week.
I'll see you on my blog, dianedenmark.com.
And next week, we will be moving somewhere else.
Plus, we'll have some different Christmas prep
and wellbeing.
So make sure you are subscribed to my channel,
Dianen Denmark, and notifications on.
So anyway, have a fantastic day.
All I've got left to say is live long and prosper.
May the ho, ho, ho, minimalist Christmas hygge
planning be with you.
And I shall see you very soon with a rah, rah, rah.
Okay, bye for now.
