[music]
Good morning, guys. Welcome to today's
video, you guys. Our newest baby kitten
is a dream. He is a dream baby. He's so
fun. And right now, we're all leaving
the house and we're leaving him behind.
And he struggles when we leave him. He
cries if he can't find Sophie or I
follows us around. He can only sleep if
one of us is there. Like he sleeps with
us. But he's so funny. He He's so funny.
We just left him. It feels wrong that we
just left him. He's going to cry. This
morning I went in and I woke Sophie up.
I said, "Sophie, get up. We're going to
go." And he heard me. He sleeps beside
her in his in her bed on a pillow right
beside her head. He's so cute. who
sleeps all night and he heard me and he
was so excited. He jumped up and he ran
to the door. So, I closed the door quick
cuz I wanted her him to stay with her
because I was going out to do chores. He
ran up to her in bed, climbed on top of
her chest, stared in her face, and was
screaming at her. Like, he's so vocal
and he tells us everything. Like, if
he's sleeping beside me and I act like
I'm about to get up, he cries out to me
and it's like, "No, stay. I'm not done
sleeping." Like, he cuz he'll get up if
I get up. He's really cute. But today,
today we're going to get our second barn
kitty. So, after today, he will never
ever be alone again. I'm so excited for
him. You guys know I don't like having
cats live in the barn. I don't like
having outdoor cats because their life
expectancy, their life expectancy is so
much shorter than a cat that lives
inside. Our [snorts] old cat lived to be
13 and she was an indoor outdoor cat,
but that's a rare exception. So, how we
do barn cats is that, and I don't know,
maybe it's controversial, maybe people
will disagree, but he's these ones that
we have now, we need barn cats.
I hate this road.
Goes down a hill and there's lots of
snow on the road and it goes down a hill
to the stop sign. We have slid out into
the intersection a lot of times. But
anyways, we are going to keep these
little kittens in the house. And we kept
our last barn cat in the house until we
felt she was ready to go outside. She
stayed inside for 3 years. Was it 3
years? I think 3 years.
I think 3 years. It was three. She's
three in September. Two years. I don't
know. But we kept her inside for at
least 2 years before we felt she was
ready to go outside. And now she is
loving her life outside. She's the best
barn cat we've had in a long time.
Girls, I find to be much better mousers.
She has caught a big giant rat. She's
caught three little tiny mice and she's
only been out there such a short time.
Anyway, these little kittens will stay
inside until the spring until they're
big and ready to go outside. So, we're
just getting to love them and enjoy
them. And that's the [clears throat]
thing about our family. We're all here
in the car going to pick up this kitten
even though we're all adults practically
because
we celebrate and enjoy every animal on
our farm. Like every single one even
when we had the turkeys and even like
it's just we celebrate every single one
of them and have so much respect for
their life. But anyway, going to pick up
our newborn kitty. We're so excited that
we got here too early. So, we're going
to stop at the dollar store now that I
finally am excited about decorating my
Christmas tree. I never get excited
about it, but I'm excited about it. I
want the presents to look really fun,
too. So, we're going to head in. I'm
going to get some stuff. I'll show you.
Oh my gosh, look at these. These are the
cutest little things. They are so cute.
Little cloths.
Is that so cute? The dollar store
actually [music] has some really cute
things. Like, that is so cute. If that
was a tiny bit bigger, it would fit our
baby goats. In fact, that would probably
fit our baby goats. Oh my gosh, we need
catnip
[music]
>> for sure. But we are going to need two.
Should I get the duck or should I get
the mouse? Because that's what we want
them for.
>> That's the mouse. Isn't it so cute?
These are so cute. Which one do you
Which ones do you think we should get?
It's catnip.
>> Okay, so Oscar cuz he's a queen. Oh, no.
Let's get this for the girl. I was
thinking for the girl.
>> And then
>> like I want the mouse. Yeah, I want the
mouse cuz that's what we want them for.
But this is so cute.
>> But like they can I can hold it and they
can play with strings.
>> Yeah.
>> Oh.
>> So this is So this is Oscar, our OG
kitten.
>> And this is little baby Teddy. That was
her name. When [laughter] when we picked
her up, they named her. Oh, she's like,
"Thank goodness you're here." She was
smelling my breath, too. Oh, do you love
him? We told you. She was wild in the
car. And he's like, "Oh, no. I thought I
was the king."
Merry Christmas.
>> So, they're actually the exact same age.
>> She's tiny compared to him.
It's a gift for you. It's Merry
Christmas.
>> So, you always have a friend. [music]
>> You can grow up with a friend.
>> She's like, I'm out of here. So, she is
a tabby, but she in the camera she looks
really dark, but she's actually a tan
and
and brown tabby instead of a black and
gray. She's a light tabby.
Did she hiss? Yeah. She'll probably be
telling him he is. Oh, he'll she'll
probably be the boss of him, though. Oh,
hi, babe.
>> She's really little. I know. I love him,
too. He's spectacular as a cat.
>> Oh, there they go.
>> I love that you call him and he comes
running.
>> Yeah. Well, that was antilimatic.
>> She's tiny, isn't she? tiny compared to
him. She's so cute.
Today, when we were driving back from
getting the kitten, I saw a lot of messy
animals out in fields. Like Ellie right
now is digging up the dirt. I'm going to
have to give her a bath. She's
disgusting. I saw cows. Stop, Ellie.
I saw cows that were covered in mud. I
saw horses that were covered in mud.
It [laughter] sucks. Like, it's the
worst. I kept thinking to myself,
imagine how miserable they must feel.
And it made me grateful that I kept our
goats in this morning. I did. I don't
know if it was the right choice. I
struggle with that. But everything is
muddy and wet and gross outside right
now. And tomorrow will be better. You
are a muddy mess. Don't jump on me. All
right. So Sam says,
hello. [laughter]
She is so fast. Sam says that this is
catnip. So I'm going to try and pick
this.
And I don't think this is it, though.
I'll find out. All right. Wait. I'm
feeling pressured. [laughter]
Had a horse breathing down my neck.
There's nothing in here. I brought a bag
to collect some catnip, but I don't
think it's going to work out for me
today.
It's mild out,
but really gross and really wet. And not
the best day for collecting catnip. I
think I'm past this stage. I think I I
waited too long. I don't think there
will be any natural catnip for me. All
right, so it's been a few hours and what
did we decide to call her?
>> Teddy.
>> Teddy. So, she came with the name Teddy.
Sophie wanted to name her
Laya, but then we decided to keep it
Teddy cuz she does look like a Teddy.
She's a light tabby. She doesn't have
that black in her. Even though it looks
like she's black in camera, she's more
like brown and tan. Sophie says that
Oscar, our orange cat, has been horrible
to her all day. She's been sleeping all
day. And I told Sophie, Sophie, bring
her downstairs and let her play because
I'm telling you now, if you let her
sleep, if you let her sleep all day,
they're going to be awake all night.
>> He loves kisses. put them down together
so we can show the size difference. So,
we think they're a week apart.
Oh, he just wants to play with her.
>> Who Who's hissing? Ellie.
>> She hiss, he growls.
>> She hisses and he growls. So, she also
came from a barn. [snorts]
>> Her mama and her daddy were barn cats.
door. Lovely songs [music] we all heard
before
as he walked from house to house [music]
to wish us.
>> Oh no.
>> I think he's just playing though. I
think he's [music] playing and she's
just confused.
[music]
>> Yeah. So, we've been leaving her in
Sylvy's room, but she's just been
sleeping. We're leaving her in Sophie's
room so she gets used to him. Yeah, he's
been hanging out in there all day and
usually he doesn't. He likes to run
around the farm or he likes to run
around the house. He likes to play with
[laughter] He's crazy. But look at how
cute. I'm not usually a tabby cat kind
of person, but I like her. She's just
tiny and she's putting up with some
stuff.
I feel like she is not our first tabby
cat. But this is what it looks like in
our house when we have a new pet.
Everybody just be watching. Sophie's
going to take her back upstairs, though.
And he's having to pee in the kitty
litter. We have kitty litters all over
the house. How did she has she been
eating, Sophie?
>> I think she was eating right up there.
>> This is what happens when Sophie tries
to play video games.
So, meet little Teddy.
>> Little Teddy. She's a girl, but we
called her Teddy.
>> Uh-oh.
Come here. Jump.
>> You can do it. You can do it. Yeah. The
last time we got two kittens at the
exact same time was at Christmas when
Gabby was four. So 14 years ago is the
last time we got two kittens at the same
time at Christmas. And incidentally, one
was a tabby and it was the boy.
Beautiful [music]
just the way you are. Just the way you
came. Don't you know that you're
beautiful?
