Trump, Mike Johnson get BAD NEWS after Marjorie’s resignation announcement
In a signal of yet more bad news to come for Trump, Mike Johnson, and the GOP, Punchbowl
News is reporting this morning that the retirement announcement by Marjorie Taylor Greene was
not the end of the retirement story, but rather just the beginning.
Quote, a few other GOP members messaged us over the weekend saying that they too are
considering retiring in the middle of the term.
Here's one particularly exercised senior House Republican.
Quote, this entire White House team has treated all members like garbage, all, and Mike Johnson
That is the sentiment of nearly all.
Appropriators, authorizers, hawks, doves, rank and file.
The arrogance of this White House team is off-putting to members who are run roughshod
and threatened.
They don't even allow little wins, like announcing small grants or even responding from agencies.
Not even the high profile, the regular rank and file random members are more upset than
ever.
Members know that they are going into the minority after the midterms.
More explosive early resignations are coming.
It's a tinderbox.
Morale has never been lower.
Now, a few points here.
First off, excuse me if I don't feel bad for House Republicans who have spent the last
11 months contracting every single ounce of power they have to Donald Trump that suddenly
Trump doesn't feel the need to pander to them for anything.
I mean, honestly, why would he?
What incentive is there for Trump to compromise even an inch for these pathetic supplements
Mike Johnson and House Republicans have not shown a single ******* vertebrae between the
more than 200 of them for the entirety of the Trump era.
And so I guess it's a fitting end that even now, the most they can manage to do is bitch
and moan in private, talking off the record to Punchbowl News, and still, still not be
able to sack up and say anything publicly.
What a pathetic excuse for a political party.
The second point, I hope the White House can see the extent to which they fucked over their
entire political party.
They were blessed with this group of spineless sycophants who had followed them off a cliff
out of blind deference to Trump.
And what did Trump do with all of that goodwill?
He enacted the most brazenly corrupt and kleptocratic administration in the history of this country.
They took a staggering majority of support, support so high that Democrats were left spiraling
in the wilderness and squandered it to the point where Democrats are now winning elections
statewide in Georgia by 25 points.
Trump vowed to usher in affordability, and yet he has so much oozing contempt for his
own supporters and fans and voters that he's presided over a trade war that sent the cost
of everything surging, over inflation that's been rising since March, over the gutting
of Medicaid, of the ACA, of food stamps.
And all the while, he surrounds himself with gold leafing, with a $350 million ballroom,
with a let them eat cake party at Mar-a-Lago.
I mean, dear God, I get that Trump thinks Americans are stupid, but does he think that
they're ******* brain-dead?
And by the way, again, not a single ill word from Republicans while all of this was happening.
I truly don't know what's worse, the outright contempt for this country by Trump or the
spineless complicity by the rest of the Republican Party.
And of course, per usual, the only dissent that ever comes is going to come from a Republican
who then announces their resignation or retirement afterwards.
Marjorie Taylor Greene actually took to Twitter in response to this very story and wrote,
Fact check true, but it's worse than people inside the bubble know when you talk to real
Americans outside the wicked snow globe of Washington, D.C.
Myself and many of my colleagues came courageously roaring into 2025 with legislation that matched
the 2024 electoral mandate, only to be totally sidelined by Johnson under full obedience
of the White House.
Executive orders are temporary, Q memes have not obliterated the deep state, and my colleagues
constantly trying to pass loyalty tests instead of demanding what is right won't help Americans
pay their rent or stop corporations from buying up homes, buy their groceries, provide
good paying jobs, and stop foreigners with visas from stealing their jobs, stop American
tax dollars from funding foreign wars and causes, or rebuild the value of the dollar.
Passing effective legislation that gets signed into law is permanent and actually solves
Americans' problems.
Now that House members are switching gears in the campaign mode and will be fighting
for their lives, our legislative majority has mostly been wasted.
Our best shot was the first six to nine months, and when Republicans likely lose the midterms,
it will become total and complete political war and gridlock once again.
The Uniparty always wins no matter which way the political pendulum swings, leaving the
American people empty-handed.
What is the convincing message for 2026 and likely 2028?
It will be the American people asking candidates, what tangible thing have you done for me,
and how did it or will it make my life better?
And then actually trying to get them to vote after both parties have failed them.
Serious changes are needed and words are unconvincing.
And frankly, she's right about the failures of this government, but let's not also memory
hole her complicity in all of this.
No one fought harder for Donald Trump than she did.
And let's be clear, Trump didn't just start ignoring Americans' needs now.
He has always been this way.
Remember back in 2016?
He ran on ushering in a manufacturing renaissance, a jobs boom, a middle-class tax cut, a health
care plan that was cheaper and more affordable, an infrastructure plan.
None of that happened.
Literally, none of it came to fruition.
All he did was pass a tax cut for himself.
That's it.
So if you're only now realizing that Trump will lie and pose as a populist only to help
himself in the end, then you're either lying to yourself or lying to everyone else.
As far as Marjorie Taylor Greene is concerned, I'll let you all be the judge.
So look, Republicans probably will lose the House in midterms.
But I want to be clear that if they do, they will have clutch defeat from the jaws of victory.
They have full control of government to enact their full agenda with zero pushback by Democrats.
They've got a propaganda operation second to none in the media.
They've got foreign influence accounts from all over the world with millions of followers
pushing right-wing messaging.
They have no reason not to succeed.
And yet they've failed miserably.
And that's not because there's some impediment to their progress.
It is simply because the agenda itself is corrupt, self-serving, and fascistic.
That is why it's unpopular.
Not because they're not successful at enacting it, but expressly because they are successful
at enacting it.
This is the agenda working exactly as it's intended.
And that is why people hate it.
That is why Republicans' approval ratings are plummeting.
That is why Democrats are overperforming by double digits in special elections across
the United States, expressly because the agenda that they're putting forward is working exactly
as it's intended for the people it's intended to help.
Which is to say, not regular Americans, but Trump, his donors, and his pals.
So Republicans can pretend that they're mad at Trump, but remember, they brought this
upon themselves.
They emboldened a leader to think that he is a king.
They had the ability to push back at any point.
They're a co-equal branch of government, and yet they chose not to.
These people are not children, they are grown-ass adults, and who made the conscious decision
to treat the leader of their party like the dictator that he strives to be.
If they couldn't see the damage that they were causing, then frankly, they shouldn't
be in Congress in the first place.
So ahead of the impending retirements and resignations that Punchbowl News says are
coming, let me be the first to say, I hope your children and grandchildren understand
just how much you fucked this country up by virtue of your impotent, feckless, groveling,
slavish devotion to a conman who ultimately became all of your downfall and good riddance.

But second, the reality is that we are now in a political environment where this administration
can lean on any of the social media platforms to suppress certain voices if they don't
like critical coverage.
That means my longevity here is in the hands of a few tech billionaires who are already
making it clear that they are willing to cater to this administration.
To that end, signing up for my newsletter is a way for me to reach you directly if that
ever becomes necessary.

I really appreciate it.
