KTEN NEWS: Ratcliffe visits local businesses impacted by tax reform

Texas Congressman John Ratcliffe visited several businesses who say they've benefited from
the new tax laws enacted by Congress back in December.
KTEN's Brittany Breeding joined him on some of those visits.
What was really cool about it is it was something that we knew was even on the table.
And so that morning when we came into the brewery we got the email, you know, as a small
business owner we pay a lot of money in taxes.
And so just to see that we're going to be able to save money, it greatly helps us.
The owner of 903 Brewers says his savings are going to be around $3,000, but could go
as high as $6,000 to $8,000 once they open their new brewery.
You know, the neat thing about it is as we continue to make more beer, we're going to
be able to get more of a tax credit because it's based upon percent of our beer that we
produce.
And they have pretty big goals.
You know, as we continue to grow, we're focusing on having our beer in all of Oklahoma, Texas,
Louisiana, and Arkansas throughout the next years as we continue to grow our beer.
But the business itself isn't the only one benefiting from these tax cuts.
Some part-time workers have been moved into full-time positions.
So you know, it's been exciting for them because they're able to make more money working here
at the brewery.
And it's just helping them with that consistent income and the amount of hours they're going
to get with this.
And that's one of the reasons why Congressman Ratcliffe came to town Monday.
These are the kind of real-world benefits that we really hoped from the beginning that
this would do.
And to see the benefits of it in real-life examples here in Grayson County is really
rewarding.
He visited 903 Brewers specifically because they were one of the first businesses to reach
out to him after the tax cuts were passed.
You know, as soon as we got word that we received a tax credit, you know, we immediately reached
out to him and said, hey, thank you, because you need to know what you're doing in Washington
is greatly impacting in a positive way the people in your community.
903 Brewers has plans to convert the old Lee School into a brewery that is scheduled to
open in the summer of 2019.
