Personal note: Thanks for following along. After the medical specialists I had seen for my own health issues failed, I found a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner that changed my life. My life mission is to show the world the clinical power and healing philosophy of TCM, to change the lives of as many as possible while I live.
Most people think the solution to hair
loss is shampoo or maybe some expensive
serum that promises to regrow your hair.
But here's a simple truth. Shampoos
don't stop hair loss. In traditional
Chinese medicine, hair loss has a much
deeper cause. And the solution often
comes from the inside, not the outside.
Now, today, I want to show you how an
ancient herbal tea can support healthy
hair growth by working with your body's
circulation, energy, and blood, not just
your scalp. And I'll share some of the
exact formulas Chinese doctors have used
for centuries, plus what modern science
says about them. Hey guys, I'm Dr. Alex
Hine, board licensed doctor of
acupuncture and nutritional Chinese
medicine and author of the health book
Master the Day. Let's jump in. Now,
let's be real. Shampoo is for cleaning
the scalp. [music] That's it. If your
hair is falling out, shampoo is not
going to rebuild the blood supply to
your follicles or regulate your
hormones. You know, I had a patient in
his 30s who had tried every shampoo and
serum on the market, and he was super
frustrated because none of them actually
touched the root cause. It just kept
happening. Now in traditional Chinese
medicine, we always ask why is hair
falling out? Is it stress? Is it weak
digestion? Is it what we call blood
deficiency, kidney essence decline?
Those are the real causes [music] and
that's where herbs and these certain
kinds of tees come in. In traditional
Chinese medicine, the hair is called the
surplus of the blood and is nourished by
what we call the kidney and the liver
systems. [music]
Now, if the blood is deficient, the hair
becomes dry, thin, and falls out. If the
kidney essence is weak, the hair turns
gray or falls early. If there's what we
call heat or stagnation, you might see
lots of inflammation, dandruff, or more
patchy hair loss. And that's why the
treatment is not just one herb, but it
actually depends on the root pattern.
But one common approach is using herbs
and formulas that nourish the blood,
move your circulation, and strengthen
the actual kidney system. Now, one thing
that's really important is to understand
where hair loss is coming from. So, for
example, some people the hair loss is
coming from a chronic disregulated
stress system. Other people it's coming
from hormones and one of the best ways
to find out is just to download the free
quiz I have below this video and they
will go through what is the root cause
of this specific symptom like your hair
loss. We'll go through each individual
organ system like is this from your
adrenals? Is this from your estrogen and
progesterone? Is what is this coming
from? So that quiz will help you figure
out where the specific hair loss is
coming from and get to the root cause of
this from a traditional Chinese medicine
point of view. It's the first link below
the video or you can go to dr

So let's talk about some of the single
herbs that have been shown traditionally
in traditional medicine and in modern
research to health. One of the most
famous tees for circulation and hair
health is called hushou. So this is
called fui or the latin name is
polygonum multifllorum. Now, for
centuries, Kushu has been the go-to herb
in formulas for premature graying and
hair loss. I mean, the name literally
means in Chinese, Mr. H's black hair
from a Tong Dynasty story of an old guy
who restored his vitality and his dark
hair by taking this route. It's pretty
cool. Now, another gentle daily option
is Hawthorberry tea or Shana. Now, Shana
is better known for improving digestion
and circulation. We actually have videos
on that on the channel because Hawthorne
improves blood flow to your extremities
and in traditional Chinese medicine that
includes nourishing the scalp. There are
also nourishing blood teas like for
example goji berry goa with
chrosanthemum ja that are often drunk
for eye and hair health as well as dang
which is a traditional blood tonic in
traditional Chinese medicine which
treats primarily female hormones. Now of
course in our profession doctors don't
just use single herbal formulas. You
actually shouldn't even do that for
safety reasons, but we built entire
formulas around restoring hair. One
famous one is called Chiba Randan, the
seven treasures for a beautiful hair
pill. Now, this is a Ming Dynasty
formula that includes a few key herbs.
Hosu is one, Hudzu is another, Tangu
that we talked about, and even more
specifically to darken hair and prevent
the hair loss. Another modern patent
formula is called shu pan which is a
modern patent pill formula based on
shaoo as the chief ingredient. Now
another secondary formula is called
bajentang. Bajentang is eight treasure
decoction and this is a formula that's
used for basically recovery after
exhaustion, chronic illness, postpartum.
uh you're exhausted, you're a caretaker,
you've been chronically ill for several
years, and it builds what we call chian
blood for people with fatigue, a pale
complexion, and hair thinning. [music]
And finally, another one is called Leo
Diwan. This is a traditional kidney
essence tonic used when this premature
graying of the hair or the hair loss is
linked to what we call kidney yin
deficiency like a stress or adrenals
burning out pattern. Now, let's look at
a bit of the science here. Hushou or
polygonum has been studied for its
effects on hair growth. Some research
shows that it may promote the anigen
phase of hair follicles. That's
basically like the active growth phase
and lab studies suggest it can stimulate
these specific dermal cells which are
critical for hair regeneration.
Hawthorne or Shana has been shown to
improve circulation by boosting your
nitric oxide production and your
endothelial function. So better blood
flow means more nutrients reaching your
scalp. Another one, goji berries.
Gochidza. They're very rich in
antioxidants and polysaccharides,
and they've been studied for improving
microirculation and reducing your
oxidative stress, both of which protect
your hair follicles. And if you zoom
out, modern studies confirm what
traditional Chinese medicine always
taught. Hair health reflects your
internal health. So circulation,
nutrient absorption, hormone balance,
those matter more than what shampoo you
use. So I want to leave you with a final
thought here. Shampoos won't stop your
hair loss because they only treat the
surface. The real solution is inside
your body. And herbs like koshou,
hawthorne or blood nourishing formulas
have been used for centuries to restore
the circulation, nourish your blood,
strengthen the kidney system, and even
the modern research is there backing it
up. It shows that these herbs improve
your circulation, improve antioxidant
activity, and even stimulate your hair
follicle growth. So instead of asking,
"What shampoo should I use?" If you're
trying to regrow hair, ask, "What does
my body need inside to support healthy
hair?" So, let me know what you guys
think down there below. What's the main
issue with your hair? What have you
tried? What hasn't worked? Leave me a
comment down there below. Now, if you
guys are curious what other exact
formulas are that are used for hair loss
and regrowth, make sure you check out
this related video right here. That is
the exact three proven remedies that
have been studied east and west. Cheers.
