The German Bundestag is the place where politics is done in Germany.
What kind of vocabulary is that?
Aren't you ashamed at all?
Well, and sometimes it is also the place where our politicians insult each other the most.
For you as a German learner, this is also a super exciting opportunity to learn German.
I will show you several excerpts from the German Bundestag in this video
and then analyze the language and vocabulary for you.
This way you increase your vocabulary and learn a few insults in German
that you should at least be able to understand at B2C1 level.
And you can also practice your listening skills with this video,
especially if you also read the subtitles.
By the way, you can now also test your listening skills
and see how well you really understand fast German.
I have created a test for you by watching three videos
and then answering a few questions about understanding.
It takes about 20 minutes.
And in the end you get an evaluation of your level
The test is free and you can sign up for it under this video and start immediately.
So, let's start with our aggressive politicians and learn German.
Here comes section number one.
And that's exactly why we're doing this.
I think you have a little problem with your blood pressure.
You should get examined and think about how you might come down a bit.
That would not be acceptable in the German Bundestag.
Mr. Spaniel, keep calm.
I have listened to you.
And it might do you good
to listen to other people here who also have something to say,
which is not wrong,
and to try to understand it.
Then we will go a step further.
The politician seems to be worried here.
But in truth she is discouraging and instructive.
She draws the political opponent's attention
by describing him as not healthy.
So she degrades him from a political opponent to a patient.
She does not use swear words, but she is definitely disrespectful.
In a rather subtle way.
Important vocabulary from this section for you.
First, to be examined.
Means to urge someone to check something or to check.
Most of the time it is about a doctor or medical context.
So I can get examined by the doctor.
Second, to come down.
Means to calm down from an excited or intense mood,
to become normal again.
So when I'm angry, I have to take a deep breath in and out
to come down again.
Third, to be tolerant of something.
Means to have a negative impact on something.
That politicians insult each other is abhorrent to a functioning policy.
Let's continue with section 2.
So much for your black zero.
The only black zero sitting here,
is sitting there, Mr. Scholz, with your person.
We're talking, Mr. Kahrs,
I can only think of you, let your brain rain from the sky,
but that won't do you much good, Mr. Kahrs.
The AfD politician here becomes very contemptible and sarcastic.
The insult is direct and unflattering.
The saying, let your brain rain from the sky,
is already a clear insult.
The addition, but that won't do you much good either,
really increases the whole thing to extremes.
It implies, the opponent is uneducable and stupid,
because he has no brain.
That is definitely one of the most obvious insults,
that you can hear in the Bundestag.
And above all, no longer factual, but very personal.
But unfortunately, this is also typical for the tone of many AfD politicians.
Important word, honey, from this section, which you should know.
Someone comes up with something.
Means, someone suddenly has an idea,
or remembers something.
I remembered, that I still have to go shopping,
because the fridge is empty.
And let your brain rain from the sky.
That is very conversational and an expression of frustration over stupidity.
It means, hopefully people will finally become sensible and intelligent.
Let's continue with section number 3.
One more reason to ban this association.
Right-wing extremists like you, we've seen them before, Mrs. Weidel.
Just that you've heard it once.
What has just been said here, is unbearable.
What kind of vocabulary is that?
Don't you feel ashamed at all?
Especially...
Yes, exactly, as chairman of the Kurt Schumacher Society,
I can tell you, he would feel ashamed for people like you.
Disrespectful without end.
Yes, the SPD politician is angry, emotional here.
Except for anger.
This is not a playful indignation, but seems like real, deep disdain.
And he becomes extremely tough.
Right-wing extremists are the maximum political distancing in the Bundestag.
And something, that many AfD politicians don't want to hear.
Even if it doesn't often correspond to the truth.
Important terms from this section, that you should know.
First, someone has something up to here.
Means, someone has something completely full.
Or he has lost the patience.
Or the burden limit has been reached.
I can say, I'm up to here, that you always come too late to the meeting.
Second, deliver something.
In relation to the performance, it means to achieve a good or expected performance.
Show what you can.
For example, what the team has delivered in the past few weeks, was really strong.
And third, to be ashamed.
Means, to feel bad or embarrassed, because of your own behavior or a mistake.
I'm ashamed not to have told the truth.
Let's come to the fourth and last section.
Well, and when it comes to insults, the AfD is always at the forefront.
That's why our last section is again from an AfD politician.
Anton Hofreiter goes into the state office as Anton Hofreiter and comes out as Antonia Hofreiter again.
The new gender of desire and also for the past apply.
The children, who could still remember their father very well,
should suddenly always have had only two mothers.
That's Orwell 2.0.
From us, Anton Hofreiter can become queen in Gender Gagaland or Antonia Hofreiter.
But Germany has real problems.
We will take care of them. Thank you very much.
Well, she is spurtish, sarcastic, controversial.
She makes fun of the LGBTQ community by talking about the politician Anton Hofreiter
and says, Anton becomes Antonia.
The term Gender Gagaland is a targeted, degrading word creation,
which describes a whole social debate as crazy and irrelevant.
It is a targeted provocation.
And it becomes again personal and at the same time deeply ideological
and aims to hurt the dignity of trans people.
AfD, what should I say?
Important terms that you should understand from this section.
First, state office.
This is a state authority,
where births, marriages and deaths are officially registered.
For example, we only married in the state office or married in the state office.
There was no big party.
And the second term, Gaga, very colloquial.
It means crazy, nonsense, totally off track.
For example, it's really Gaga, what some politicians in the Bundestag give of themselves.
Okay, to train hearing and vocabulary, watch this video a second time.
