Meet Camden (14), Weston (11), and Emory (6), also known as The Trio Behind Bars. Three young riders shredding at a level most adults never reach. What started as small trips has turned into world travel, big flips, and races every weekend. With their dad by their side, the kids are constantly learning, pushing, and growing. Together, the family shows how the sport has taken them around the world and brought them even closer.

When I was seven, I learned how to do a backie.
I'm mostly scared about everything I do.
Thirty miles an hour and hitting the ground at that speed is pretty devastating.
Gotta go faster.
I challenge myself and it's definitely really hard.
I want to be the best mountain biker on the planet.
My name is Weston Lukens.
Cameron Lukens.
Emery.
We're the trio behind bars.
This is No Days Off.
This week we're at Killington for a downhill race in the whip-off.
I really just love mountain biking and it's just been my favorite thing ever to do.
Track's running good.
It's very gnarly in some spots.
The lines change a ton, so you're always having to pick a different line.
Depending on how the track condition is.
Once you stick to your line that you're doing, you have to be super careful with it
because sometimes people are mostly doing the same line you are.
Every single run there's another root or another rock in the place to go.
So it's like, oh I have to watch out for this now.
And then wait, oh there's another one.
Today is practice and then we'll have seating.
It goes first in like where you go and then we're going to have the best trip later.
The first year we started it was kind of some random trips here and there.
We would hit a couple different parks.
Last year they got invited to the Kamsink Invitational.
Every year it's gotten bigger and bigger.
Since then this year has just been absolutely insane.
Our weekends have been pretty much filled with either races or invitational events.
That definitely really opened my eyes to how good I could actually be.
We opened a bike shop in 2019 and when we did that we kind of gave them higher end bikes.
Camden kind of took to jumping, which then led to Weston kind of taking to jumping.
After I taught myself to jump, we started riding a little bit of downhill trails.
Kind of just got better from there.
I have a couple tricks I'm working on.
But then I'm also just trying to improve my skills, work on them, go faster.
I know how to do a double flip now.
I think I can definitely do the triple.
This year he's hit his biggest 60 foot flip.
What would you say? Kamsink Invitational was your biggest flip or no, probably Crabapple.
I think my biggest flip was probably on Crabapple.
I did like a late pull and just flew to the bottom.
I went really deep on that one though.
You got it yet?
Fixing my bike.
It's hard for the course, yeah.
Every race is honestly different.
Some we don't have any mechanical issues.
Others, like this one, we've probably been back to the van a lot of times.
Just from a stuck headset to the shifter battery stopped working.
You know, it's always weird random stuff.
Before we put this new derailleur on, the whole thing was like not shifting.
It was not great.
I have electric shifting and on my dropper post side it's also electric.
Turn on but it wouldn't shift.
I do a lot of bar spins and be harder with more cables.
So it just makes it a lot easier with less.
I'm losing my chain so it'll run smoother when we go to ride it.
This love and passion that they have grown and now Emery is following in their footsteps.
I ride.
It's a tiny rock.
It has gears.
It's fun.
It's just really fun riding bikes.
Going to practice the race.
It's just really fun.
You have to pedal a lot to get the speed.
I just like going really fast.
You have to glide a little.
You just have to flat pedal.
If there's like any rocks you'll just like not hit anything.
I dropped myself.
So I'm going to say let's go. Come on.
Setting my shock for downhill.
Testing it for a big jump so I need to have it.
The shock's not compressing super far down when I'm standing on it.
Alright, that's good.
And also when you're going up the lip there's just so much G-force
that if you have your shock set at middle
your shock's going to use up all the suspension on the lip.
Definitely going to be posting some stuff about the whip off.
The best whip.
We're going to try to do the biggest whips we can
and try to really get them good.
Yeah, it's going to be super sick.
So I'm more focused on just making sure I'm smooth.
If you're smooth, you're fast.
Like a fast enough reaction time where it almost feels like in still motion.
That's kind of how I want to be.
I just want to have you doing a tail whip.
It's like the most random trick ever.
They stand there amongst their peers who are adults and kids
and they're able to communicate and be part of these groups
and to me that's the best part.
No matter what they choose and no matter what they do
I hope that's the part that continues the rest.
I like everything because I can take my jumping into the racing
and I can take the racing into my jumping
because then I can take my jumping skills
and jump from roots or rocks to pretty much where I want it to be
and then I can take my braking control from racing
and turn it into my jumping.
As parents we want our kids to be able to do the stuff that they love
and learn and grow and express themselves
and to watch them work as hard as they do every day
shows that they're on the right track.
If I really work on it and on everything that I do
I can become better and maybe become a pro one day.
It's been pretty sick. I've been to more places than I can name.
It's like I've been to like China, I've been to Canada, Mexico
and I can't believe it.
And little did I know that three years down the road
after a six month cross country trip
plus trips overseas and to different continents
that they were going to take me this far.
Oh our van? So it's kind of cool.
We have all of our bikes pretty much on the back.
We have six on a rack, two above and then three inside the van.
My brother sleeps on the bottom next to the bikes.
My mom sleeps above. We have all our gear in the back and stuff.
We have somebody to ride with.
It's brought us closer together as a family.
To be able to try new things with him
which is really cool because I love riding with him.
And I honestly wouldn't have changed it.
