I definitely recommend you to watch this short video until the end
because then you can learn German much faster and more effectively.
And before we talk about the learning routine,
I'll give you a few tips that you can and should implement immediately.
First of all, please take your cell phone, go to settings
and make German the language of your cell phone.
You will notice very quickly what a difference that makes.
Number two is also very simple.
We all spend a certain amount of time on social media.
You too now on YouTube, maybe also on Instagram or TikTok.
And I want you to subscribe to a few German bloggers.
That means maybe food bloggers, maybe lifestyle bloggers, maybe athletes.
The point is that even in your free time,
you will be unconsciously confronted with the German language.
You will notice very quickly that you can simply pick up so many words automatically
if you are actually interested in the content.
Tip number three I call make German to brush your teeth.
So I mean that you should just make learning German your routine.
So to something that happens every day without you having to strain yourself or think about it.
Like brushing your teeth.
You go to brush your teeth without having to get up somehow, constantly having to motivate yourself.
That's just your routine.
And so it should also be with learning German.
Just a certain time of the day that is blocked every day for learning German.
30 minutes of learning German.
And then you don't have to constantly get up, think, weigh, but you just do it.
Tip number four is to get used to looking for certain information in German.
For example, you have to google something or maybe ask in CGPT and so on.
First try it in German.
Yes, in the beginning you will not immediately understand everything and so on.
But you grow into it.
And you will notice how fast that will be normal for you.
And you can also compare it with your native language
and see that some of the information can even be different.
Which is very exciting.
And the last tip here is to use the so-called Pomodoro technique.
When you start learning German, you set a timer for 25 minutes
and at that time you must not be distracted.
No cell phone, no computer, no family, no friends, I don't know who.
You just learn German very concentrated.
This Pomodoro technique has given me a lot in my time.
And I am convinced that it is a great method.
And now follow five tips for your learning routine.
How should you design the whole thing?
And the first tip will actually surprise you.
But you should take a book or a German course as a basis.
So that you have a structure.
What I notice is that many German learners are becoming chaotic over time.
So it's not a learning process, it's chaos.
They don't know what I'm learning today, how I'm learning it, why I'm learning it.
And that's why I recommend that you have a basis in the form of a textbook.
For example, aspects or whatever, no advertising.
Or just take a German course as a basis.
We will soon have a B2 course for the profession.
And if you are interested, you are welcome to sign up for the waiting list.
We start in January.
So why is that important?
Because this book or this course guides you.
You then know what is important.
Which topics occur.
Which grammar you should deal with.
And, and, and.
And that's not so chaotic.
And that doesn't mean that you only have to learn that.
For God's sake.
But that's like a guiding thread for you.
And the whole thing doesn't get that chaotic.
I've shared the next tip so many times.
But it's still essential.
And you should train all four competences.
So both reading, listening, speaking and writing.
Plus the grammar.
So the mistake I see very often is that people only read.
Almost exclusively read.
They don't hear.
They don't speak.
They don't write.
And that's the mistake.
You can't expect that you can speak.
Because you learn to speak by speaking.
Just like hearing.
You can only learn to hear very well by hearing a lot.
Just like writing.
So that's why your learning process should always include all these competences.
Tip number three is also essential.
Use the method spaced repetition and active recall.
What does spaced repetition mean?
That you repeat what you have learned over and over again.
I always recommend my students to take a topic for a week
and to constantly deal with this topic.
That means vocabulary, sub-topics, contributions.
Only one topic for a week.
That way you can really immerse yourself.
Also the most important thing is to repeat every day.
And that way you can also save the whole thing in your long-term memory.
And active recall means that you also repeat vocabulary, for example,
over and over again actively.
Not by reading something through.
But that you try to write down the vocabulary from the day before.
Or to create a mind map for the topic you are learning right now.
Or whatever, but actively.
The next tip is actually very banal, but important.
Learn a maximum of five to ten words per day.
I know, it sounds super few.
But that's exactly enough.
It's counterproductive to try to learn 50 words at once.
No, in the long-term memory we can learn about five to eight words per day anyway.
But if you learn them every day and repeat them,
you can actually save them in your long-term memory.
And that's very valuable.
And the last tip.
Don't neglect speaking.
I know very well that a lot of people don't pay much attention to speaking
up to a certain level.
Because they think, well, I don't have such a big vocabulary anyway.
Or, well, I can't speak that well anyway.
No, you'll never be able to speak well if you don't speak.
You actually have to start speaking at the A1 level in the ideal case.
You can't do it any other way.
Otherwise you'll only develop a language barrier.
If you now say, okay, but I don't have a conversational partner.
Today there are so many possibilities.
You can talk to different apps.
You can, of course, talk to the ChatGPT.
You can talk to other German learners.
There are many Facebook groups.
You can also find someone in the comments under my videos.
You can also take part in my conversation course, for example.
There we move to level B2, C1 in guided discussion and learning.
You can learn exactly the relevant vocabulary.
And you can speak, speak and become active.
So there are so many possibilities today.
Of course, you can also look for a private teacher if you have the opportunity.
So it is important that speaking is always there.
We are now at the end and I would like to ask you a question.
If you are already at a pretty high level,
what has helped you a lot on your German learning journey?
Feel free to write it in the comments.
And I would like to thank you very much for watching
and wish you all the best with your further German learning.
Bye!
