After many years of patiently growing these succulents, it's now time to separate them from the mother plant and propagate. Featured plants, Crassula Gollum, Euphorbia, Penis Cactus, Sedeveria Letizia, Seyregia humbertii.
Hello there, my name is Liz, a self-confessed succulent addict.
Welcome to my channel, Growing Succulents.
This is Cassula ovata colum, variegated. It was only a small plant when I got it about a year ago
and it has grown so fast despite being grown outdoors in the frost. Well, it was sort of in a
protected area so it did not suffer from the frost. But it has now grown so many stems that
I would really like to propagate this and this is the perfect time to propagate this because
the weather is still cool. So what I like to do with this one now and I am just gonna take a
cutting. So these three heads are sort of close to each other so I would like to remove this one in
the center here. That way it will give room for the two sides to grow and also this one here look
it's got a little hook or extra digits. So anyway, this can be grown from leaves. So if I remove the
leaves here sort of slowly, this can grow from here. But because it is variegated it is going
to take some time before it grows roots. And I'm gonna remove another one here so just push it so
I don't break it. And that way I still got a perfect node for the roots to grow. Okay, so now
that has opened up the middle part here and then I want to leave that side there. And there's a
leaf here which I can remove again. Hopefully I got the node intact. Yep, that's really good.
And so now, okay, another one. That way I can have a stem. I can remove this one as well but I'll
reverse it so I don't break it. Okay, there you go. Now I've got a nice clean stem there in the center.
Okay, let's go snip snip. Zoom. Oopsy. Okay, so now that it's opened up this will try to...
well the plant itself will try and grow closer but I'm just gonna leave those two there. That way
this can still grow this way and also that way and also this one hopefully. That small one in
the bottom will grow outwards as well. And maybe in a few months time then that will fill up. But
this plant here is really interesting to me because it just seems like it's gone monstrous
as well. So see the growth? So variegated and also with funny little hooks. And also this one here.
So this might be a variegated monstrous Crassula gollum. Isn't that exciting? Oh my goodness.
Now this next plant is called Serigia umbertii. Now this plant I've only got it for about a year.
So December 24 when I got it. So almost a year because it's only November now and it has grown
so quickly and this has been grown indoors. I haven't taken this outside. That is the reason
why I think it has grown leggy like this one. So do I just let this grow like this or should I
cut them to propagate? So I think I really like the texture because it's all got this nice
cotton wool. So soft and fluffy on the outside. So I don't like it too long. We'll
cut it on just above the node. Oh it's already got roots. No it doesn't.
But anyway so this one as well I am going to cut it again from the top.
And then I just have to make sure that I just plant them the right way. So two bottom ends.
Now this one as well I'm gonna chop chop chop and do another chop. Too easy. And then also that one
and there you go. So now that looks a little bit better. So it's not all sort of gangly and
going all over the place. Now the next plant I've got here is called Euphobia Japonica. Now just a
note with Euphobia it has a toxic sap. So you gotta be careful when you're taking cuttings that the
milky sap doesn't get in your eyes or doesn't get in your pets because it can actually burn
and get you blind. But anywho this Japonica was given to me as a one head cutting about at least
five years ago. So this is like a five year old plant. Oh my goodness. And I think every year it
grows one hand. So that's why one two three four five six. So maybe it's already six years old
or seven or six and a half maybe. But the main head now has grown a lot of new offsets that can
grow into another plant. So there's one two three four. You can see that sort of growing pimples I
call it. But they're not pimples anymore. They've grown quite big now. So even this one now has got
a baby on the side. So I'm gonna leave that the ones with the babies or newly babies and I'm gonna
remove the one that doesn't have any pup. So like this one here. So these are the only plants I've
got and I'm still on the process of propagation. So there you go. See this milky sap now. Oh look
at that. There you go. So that milky sap never ever get that on your skin or in your eye because
you can go blind and some people might be sensitive to that milky sap. So don't get it on your skin.
Well I'm not so but so it's okay. But still I would not want to touch it with my hand just in
case I accidentally touch my eye later on and I can go blind then I can't see my beautiful babies
anymore. Okay so I'm gonna wipe this down and this one now I am going to let it dry up into this
container here and I am not going to stop with one. I think I might as well take another one. So
so maybe I leave it even. The three sides. I'm gonna get two more. There you go. Wow.
So now another plant, another plant and they grow quite easily. They're not hard to grow
and so maybe even it out. So I've got oh look so that one looks good with the three of them there
and then that's gonna fill up and should I just stop at two. I think I'm gonna stop at two for now
and of course I am not gonna put this one back. I am the other two that I've taken I'm gonna put
this on a separate separate pot. While my knife is contaminated with euphobia sap from the
Japonica I might as well do my euphobia bumper harvest. Take some babies off this one because
this is quite a bumper harvest. As you can see look at that beautiful. So I've only had this
for about a year. So I bought it with already a few heads but now it also has grown a lot of heads.
So this is new that's new down in the bottom there and maybe that other one here and I don't
know there's another one I don't know if you can see that one there hiding as well in there so it
has grown a lot of pups. So now I mean although it's quite beautiful to look at nice and thick
what I really want to do is that thin this out so that way it can let the other plants like
especially the ones underneath grow out more. So poke it out okay remove the whole thing and then
that way I can also okay see better well I was gonna remove it now it's exposed oops okay hang
on there you go oops the chop is thick there you go that's better excellent now I can operate
better can I? So let's start with best to have gloves but I'm not really sensitive so
oh okay I'm just gonna feel my way here
oopsie take it from the top and I'm just slowly gonna slide this in and see if
I could oh I already damaged the top doesn't matter
just insert the knife and wedge it through this movement
okay wow oh that is beautiful look at that excellent now so I got one
so you can see that it's like bleeding now we'll take I want to leave that other one so which
just gonna use this to wedge it I don't really like damaging
okay easy does it okay oops I think I stabbed it but it doesn't matter
I'm oops I'm flicking it on the side or twisting the knife
oh geez okay I think I've got it come on come on baby there you go ah I did cut it but it's okay
now I've created a big gash so now I have to leave this longer I've created a big wound I'm
trying to preserve it like just like this but I did not do it that way so this one needs longer
times to dry up but at least I've got two now so on this side that's all good and that little one
as well has to come oh ah that one's even better it looks like it's got a little bit of root as
well so now three now if I angle it this way any plant that's sort of going down or growing
downwards oh ah isn't that beautiful there you go I don't even need a knife I just push it and
it came off so another bumper harvest oh poor thing I'm sorry okay so I think I am going to
leave anything that's growing upwards and anything that's growing downwards or under
I will remove like this one here and this one now I'm going to twist and shoot okay I just pulled
it off okay they're beautiful as the name suggests this is a very bumper harvest this one now if I
plant this in the soil this one here is going to be sticking out so off with its head I might as
well take that one too do I know I'm going to leave that not going to be horrible and leave it
bare but in saying that it can have this side here and the other side is also way down low so I'm
going to remove it as well okay there you go beautiful now if I wanted to I can cheat and
put it in the soil okay I'm just gonna okay remove that or redo this report it
I'm gonna start again and put bigger rocks in the bottom
and then do it like this and fill it up fill it up buttercup okay I'm a soil
yeah okay oh look at that just sort of holds it in and keep it upright and there you go
all done beautiful so the next plant I'm going to chop chop chop is my penis cactus
so as you can see just interesting fact I paid twenty dollars for this one a few years ago
the label is gone so I have to put new label anyhoo but we all know that there's no mistaking
that this is a penis cactus so but of all the penis that I've got here there's only one with no
thorns so if you can see that's the only one there so I am not going to chop that off I'm
going to leave that but the rest this one here this part did not have thorns before except the
anyway never mind but this one here looks like it doesn't have any thorns up the top so I think
I'm gonna start removing these ones that are sort of growing out of this plant here and then this
one as well it's got I think it's about to is that a flower or has it flowered already or did
come from I think this might have come from different one oh I think this is a different
plant there you go from another plant that is okay now this one now okay where am I gonna chop
chop chop chop so this is actually two plants so first I bought the first one the bigger one here
and then this one is given to me the small one with well three heads so this one here has came
from my friend gem and this one the other ones was from the original $20 plant that I got so now
I'm gonna be careful and the blade of the knife so if you can see it's reverse so it's not sharp
here so I can't cut that but I could cut from the top so I'm gonna slowly try and maneuver
and spring is the best time to cut this actually the end of winter would be better the last week
of winter that would give them a lot of time to callus off okay there you go so I got one cut
now this one now and then we'll do oops
now I've got two with the spiky ones and also what I want to do the spikes are a plant's way
of protecting itself so I'm gonna remove it maybe I could train it to say that look
you don't need those spikes we got no nasty animals that's gonna eat you here so I'm gonna
chop them off and then that way it saves me from getting spiked too I think I'll use my snip it's
much better so it keeps on slipping you're seeing my scissor and also my secateurs so what I decided
is I'm gonna get a nail clipper I think this would work better oh look at that there you go
putting my fingers on top so that if it flicks out it doesn't go all over
the place but instead it will go inside my little container here there you go look at that
nicely cut isn't it so I'll just continue the rest all done I now got two penis cactus with all
cut off thorns now another plant that is crying out to be chop chop chop is this serious fairy
cactus as you can see it's growing a lot of fairy cactus so it's got thorns but the thorns quite
soft and also up the top here you can see many many more fairy cactuses that's about to pop out
so I think this is the best time now to propagate this so what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna just chop
them off here we go here we go because look is it actually pretty to leave it like that and then
it can form like a castle and then I can put another pot here maybe but I want it to go
straight up so I'm gonna cut off to this point so that way I'll have a one plant two maybe and
then we'll see how we go but I will start from the top here so I would like to have one plant
and that one plant will grow many many many babies so that's one and then another one here
I'm gonna chop off one up here so I'll have this one as another plant and also just so I don't get
confused whether which one is up or down I'm gonna put a nail polish on the downside so I have to
there you go so I'm just going to go here and that can be another plant and this part here's
got a baby so I am going to I don't even know how to grow this but anyway I'm gonna do say here
cut that off so that means those two heads or the two babies will go upwards so if I plant it that
way so now I'm gonna put nail polish on the other side again there you go and so I don't get
confused nail polish as well look green and pink there let it dry up and then this one now I'm
going to cut from this so that's one plant and then we'll have this one as well another plant
and I think okay now I also this one as well so this means that has to grow that way so I have to
put nail polish on this side here there you go and this one now I'm gonna leave it as is to grow
and thicken up our next candidate is Sedeveria Laetitia variegated although the variegation
is not really that strong right now Sedeveria Laetitia normally goes dormant when the weather
gets hot but we're still getting a lot of cooler temperature so I'm taking advantage of the
situation wherein I can still grow some of this Sedeveria Laetitia if you have a look on the stem
on the bottom here there are a lot of little pups or little babies that are growing so anyway so if
I spin this around so can you see the teeny weeny little babies on the stem so even here so that
tells me that this plant is still actively growing so at the front here of course you see
that little pup there and three on this one and also a whole lot of other ones on the bottom
so those little babies tells me that this baby here or this gorgeous girl is still actively
growing so now what I like to do is encourage it to grow more so I'm going to clear up all the stem
because they do grow from leaves as well and I would really like to propagate a lot more of this
okay so that's good enough now I'm gonna chop off some of that and hopefully a couple more will grow
on this side so now I've got one Sedeveria Laetitia head and of course this one as well remove some of the
leaves first that way I'm creating a stem okay and then we cut so I've got two and then now this one
I could leave some to grow on the edge as well like that or because they do grow sometimes on
the edges of these leaves or I could also remove it so it's up to hang on
how I'm feeling but okay I'm gonna leave a couple of leaves that way it would that way I can tell
that this plant is this plant has been cut and that I am trying to grow them because sometimes
I forget if it's just sort of stems growing I tend to think it's a dying or something like that so
I put it away somewhere where I can't see it and then by the time I
find it again they would have died from not being watered or neglect basically
so now I'm going to remove this and then also I'll cut that off as well and then
remove some more leaves here there you go and then of course I'm going to clear out
some leaves but leave some as well so there you go now I've got a bold Sedeveria Laetitia variegated
and since I really want this Laetitia to grow really really really fast I'm using some Clonex
this is a routine hormone gel so if you can see inside there you go so I'm just gonna dip it here
because they're still sort of wet and the soil I'm using is dry so
oh hang on I'll remove some more okay so it's still pretty fresh but if I dip it in
rooting gel they would grow much better and the soil is also dry so I'm not gonna water
this for about a week so I let it sit there and wait for them to grow
so this is Euphobia Obessa that I have had growing in this pot for a few years now
this next victim died on me but I was able to save some leaves and it's a crested plant
and once upon a time this plant is just so expensive it's time to actually now repot this
because I will tell you I have a reason so this is now last but not the least is I am repotting my
Saundersii I have now finished potting up and taking cuttings of my different succulents
anyway guys thanks again and hope I see you on the next video
