Maybe I could be your solace
Maybe I could be something more
Baby, it's always summertime
When I'm with you, that's not a lie
Maybe you could be my solace
Only my truth comforts me
When my heart is beating fast
When our eyes meet, I go crazy
My heart is bursting every night
Will you love me as much as I love you?
So now I have the wall shelf mounted
and I think I'm going to put the lamp to the right of it
over here, probably something like this
Okay, took me a while but we did it
So now this is what it looks like
I have this lamp right here now and then I have the shelf
Not sure what I want to put on the shelf yet
I just have a piece of art for now
but probably going to put some little plants
on the side, maybe hanging down
I don't know, we'll play around with it and see
So now, if I need some light while I'm working
I can turn on
So fitness and nutrition have been a huge part of my life
and I've gotten a few questions about
what my workout routine is
so I want to talk a little bit about that
and just like my overall approach to diet
or nutrition is in general
So I first started working out around 4 years ago
and back then it was definitely motivated
by wanting to change how I looked
Throughout high school I was always very self-conscious
about how skinny I was
I would pretty much only ever wear
like very baggy clothing
and so I initially started working out
in order to put on some weight
and kind of fill up my clothes a little bit more
and initially during those first few years
I was very strict with myself about making sure
to eat an exact amount of calories each day
and watching very carefully about what I eat
which at the time I think I managed pretty well
Since then, my approach has definitely changed
so nowadays I don't restrict
or count what I eat at all
and that doesn't necessarily mean
that I eat whatever I want
I do still try to eat relatively healthy
so there will be some days where I eat a lot more
there will be some days where I eat a lot less
Overall, the things that I still care a lot about
are trying to number 1
hit my daily protein intake goals
and then also making sure to drink a lot of water
Water is I think something that's
heavily underrated
People don't realize how important getting a lot of water is
and so I try to drink
more than a gallon of water a day
which sounds like a lot, but split throughout the day
it's actually not that bad
It helps you perform better in the gym
It helps you recover better
and overall I think just makes you feel a lot more functional
as a human being
Nowadays when I don't drink enough water
it's so obvious to me because I feel sluggish
and I don't know, just like kind of out of it
Another super important thing that I have
learned over time is that
training and nutrition and all of that
doesn't really matter unless you get
good sleep. So I try to get at least 7 hours
of sleep per day and yeah I've noticed
that that has really helped with
my overall well-being and my fitness goals
In terms of actually like training
and working out at the gym, I've
switched how I go about that a lot
throughout the years. I try to work out around 5 times
per week and so on Monday I will work out
my chest and my back, on Tuesday I'll focus
on my legs and then Wednesday I'll focus on my shoulders
and arms and then I'll take a rest day
which is extremely important. Your body
really needs time to recover and rest
in order to repair all the muscles
that you're working out. And then Friday
I'll hit my entire upper body
and then Sunday I will hit my lower body
and then I'll rest again and then that cycle
repeats itself every week. With that being said
though, I've also realized that your
workout split is actually much less
important. You can make a lot of progress with
whatever workout split you choose to do
The most important thing though, and I'm sure you saw that
from some of the workout clips that I've included
is I take almost
all of my sets that I'm going like heavier on
to quote-unquote failure which basically
means that I get to the point where I
involuntarily start slowing down because of how
difficult it is and that aspect of training
hard is extremely important especially
if you're trying to build muscle. Pushing
myself to that limit is
also just really mentally and physically
rewarding and there are obviously days where
it's hard for me to push myself and that's
totally okay. I try to also listen to
my body and what it's telling me. If I
feel super tired, maybe I'll do a little bit of a shorter
workout or I'll do one less working set
than I usually do. So hopefully that all
makes sense. I am by no means
like a nutrition or a fitness expert
It's just what has worked for me really well
but everyone's body is different and everyone's
own goals are different and so definitely
take everything I say with a grain of salt
Hey, come on
In case you haven't noticed, I have
a lot of plants. I wouldn't say I'm a plant expert
or a plant connoisseur by any means
but I feel like I know a thing or two about
keeping them alive. Today's watering day and
the way that I know that is because a few of them are
looking a little bit sad and if I touch
the top few inches of soil, a lot of them feel
dried out. So I'm gonna go around, water all the
plants and give a few tips to hopefully help you
guys if you're struggling keep your plants alive
Music
One thing about plants is different plants
require different watering needs so
I got this one pretty recently and I wasn't
super sure how it would do in my space
and if you look closely I'm noticing that some of the
leaves are starting to turn yellow
which tells me that this plant probably needs to be watered
more frequently than I've been doing so far
I think another super important thing is
unless you're somebody who is ready to invest
a lot of time in taking care of their plants
I would definitely recommend choosing plants
that you know you can keep alive
A lot of the plants in my apartment
I've had for over a year and so at this point
I know that they will work in my space
but initially I definitely had a few plants
that I thought would do well here
and then they ended up dying and so
I have definitely also killed my fair share
of plants. So yeah, I don't think taking care
of plants is really the hardest thing in the world
I think a lot of people think it's more
difficult than it is. I really think it's just
about doing a little bit of research and having
a little bit of an understanding about what plants
work well in your space and then yeah
obviously remembering to water them whenever they
feel dry.
