So I feel like stars aligned this week.
We'll start with a picture that my husband sent me no less than 15 hours ago.
There she is.
This was back when I was 21 years old.
That Margaret and this Margaret are wildly different women.
He sent me that picture.
I said, wow, I looked cute.
And then I took a good look in the mirror and I saw what I was wearing,
which this honestly is better than what was yesterday.
My hair is also done.
So those are some perks.
All this to say we are decluttering our closet today.
We and by we, I mean Margaret needs help.
No, but in all seriousness, I know the power of decluttering.
I know the power in simplifying and things aren't working for me right now.
I have been in drabby clothes for the last almost 10 days in a row,
minus last week's filming day, but she needs help.
So that's what we're doing today.
Okay.
So if you find yourself in a place where you could say, I could benefit from this.
Well, this video is for you.
I'm going to show you what I'm getting rid of,
why I'm getting rid of it and what I'm left with.
I think it's going to be pretty extreme today.
I have a feeling.
Yeah, I have a feeling that's going to be pretty extreme today.
I'm four months postpartum with my last baby.
I think the shift is happening.
I honestly think people like to watch these because
they want to have the courage to do this themselves.
Well, here I am having the courage to do it.
To do it in front of a lot of people.
So let's get to it.
I don't have a lot of time to waste because my kids are coming home soon.
And this matters to me.
I want to be a better version of myself.
I want to wake up, be dressed, be prepared for the rest of the day
because my days are different when I do that.
So let's just go.
Okay, because my goal is to get up and get dressed every day
and look nice and feel nice.
That's my goal.
That's what I value.
I'm a homeschooling mother of four.
I need to feel prepared and I need it to be easy because that's my goal.
I'm going to start with some outfits that I've been repeating noticeably.
I'm just going to put those pieces over here.
And I think that's going to really help me quickly and effectively
make decisions with the rest of the items in my clothes.
Mind you, I'm four months postpartum.
So my body is still fluctuating, but maybe like 10-ish pounds.
So I'm not really worried about it.
I can turn around and see this jean shirt that I wear every day.
This jean jacket that I wear every day.
Those jeans, I'm sensing.
It's kind of it.
That's kind of all I've been wearing.
We love jean on jean.
Oh, I've wore this and I thought it was really cute.
I felt real cute in that.
But it's also white.
We're not here to waste time, people.
Okay, none of this.
I'm not reaching for any of this during the week, during my life right now.
I have reached for this.
Yep, she's coming down.
I have reached for her and her.
But I don't know if her or this guy.
This part matters because when I look at these clothes,
I feel like I have enough.
I believe that I have enough.
These are outfits, sweaters, shirts that I want to repeat
and that I have been repeating that I feel good in.
So that helps my emotional state.
I've done a declutter a few times.
But it helps my emotional state to move in to this side
where I can and will avoid feeling like,
oh, but will I need it?
Will I want it?
That's the biggest thing, the biggest battle that we all face
when we're decluttering our closets is like, what if?
But if I have things that fit,
if I have things that I love, that I feel beautiful in,
that are comfortable,
I go in without the scarcity mindset
and I'm just ready to take down.
So let's take some down.
I would encourage you to pay attention to this part
because I want you to hear what I'm saying to these pieces of clothes
and why they are leaving.
It will help you choose the item, pick it up and say,
bye-bye, okay?
And it should go fast.
It's not gonna be a long thing, all right?
This super cheap white V-neck, gonzo, terrible quality,
clings to everything.
Why do I choose white with four kits?
Done.
This very cheap gray shirt that has absolutely no shape
looks terrible every time I wear it, even if I tuck it in.
Gone.
This, it's like a lime green gauze button down from Amazon.
It has matching shorts.
I've worn it a few times, mostly during pregnancy
because it's comfortable, but it's not flattering.
I don't feel beautiful in it.
It like slips and slides and I'm roughhousing.
I'm with my children.
I need structure.
This is not structure and I never reached for it this summer.
So someone will love that.
This has been in my family and I love it so much.
I love the color.
I love where this beach is,
but it looks, it puts 20 pounds on me every time I put it on
and I have hopes every time, but it just looks bad.
So I'm going to give it to a different sister,
see if she can do something with it.
Oh, this gorgeous sweater.
I love the quality.
I love the density.
I love the color, but I'm 5'3 and it never looks good on me.
It falls at the wrong place and it,
the bottom isn't like a tuckable sweater.
I'm going to send that to a sister.
I think she'll, I think she'll rock it.
This dress, I've actually tried to get rid of it a few times
and I haven't, but I never wear it because I don't think I like it.
Okay, this, this was given to me from my mother and father.
I have never worn it and it's been four years.
I'm going to give it to a different sister who can rock it.
And if she doesn't want it, I'll give it to a friend
because it's a gorgeous, very high quality dress.
But when, when you put it on, you could see every,
it's just the material that's not like camo.
It's a material that is not camo.
That needs to go.
This is feeling good.
Like I want to walk into my closet and say like,
this is Margaret in the season of life with four little boys.
She's active, she's healthy and she puts herself together.
Like the outfit for me right now is jean on jean.
I can do any, I can walk in a creek with that.
I can cook, I can host a party.
I can do everything in jean on jean and still kind of feel elevated and pretty.
I'm really trying not to wear leggings.
It will happen because again, mother of four boys,
but I'm trying to not let that happen.
We're going to get rid of this sweater.
Five, three, it's like a long button down sweater does not look good.
We're going to get rid of this sweater.
Doesn't look good.
The sweater's decent.
It can stay.
This, okay.
Another gauze button down with the matching shorts.
We wore it for pregnancy.
We are, we are over it.
Like you guys, I'm getting to know myself on another level,
but gauzy material, I think I'm over it.
I want jean.
I want nice fabrics.
I don't want this cheap stuff that's going to disintegrate in my washer and dryer
and make me feel cheap when I wear it.
That's how it makes me feel because that's how I look.
This scowl can't breathe.
Like the top up here is way too tight.
I'll give it to a sister who I know will wear it.
You know what?
I'm just going to put them on so you can laugh with me or at me, whatever you want.
Okay, here's the thing.
Can you see, can you see the front and the back?
Okay, I'm pretty sure I saw a really pretty person with a huge basket with flowers in it
and her gorgeous garden behind her.
She was wearing overalls and I bought these probably 20 minutes later.
I believe that's why we all have stuff in our closets that we don't wear
because we're playing this comparison game thinking that
because she looks fire, she looks bomb in it.
I'm going to, and then I will be happy.
Well, it turns out you just let it sit in your closet.
You let it say something to you, pretty negative.
Every time you open your closet, every time you look at it,
you're either not skinny enough, not tall enough, not fit enough, not pretty enough.
Wow, how absolutely miserable.
And that's what I've been working with in the closet of mine.
And I'm not in a season of life where I can just go out and buy a whole new wardrobe.
But I have items that make me feel beautiful and fluctuate with my curves.
And that's what I want.
And I think I'm going to miss these overalls
because I think I'm going to miss the potential dream of being her.
But the more I believe in that dream, the more I'm missing out on who Margaret is.
In order to declutter your closet successfully, you have to know thyself.
But I am going to wear them for the rest of the video because I want to give them closure.
I have some more pieces I want to declutter, but really quick,
I want to talk about the importance of basics and a store that has really great basics,
Quince.
Thank you, Quince, for sponsoring this portion of the video.
I've got quite a few pieces from Quince in here,
and I have deemed them a fabulous, fabulous place to acquire basics
when you are building a wardrobe.
They have great white tees.
They have great winter coats.
They have great jeans, but all very affordable prices without lowering the quality.
It's pretty impressive what they do.
They cut out the third party.
These are livable, great, high quality clothes at an affordable price.
I love that.
Let me show you guys a few items.
I get comments on this sweater every time I wear it.
It's a gorgeous blue, big accent buttons.
This is the Boyfriend Crew crop sweater,
also an absolute favorite.
I wear it once or twice a week in the winter.
This sweater up here, it's like a mock neck, gray.
Turns out when you get rid of all your shoes and then you lose a pair,
you don't have any.
I almost had to wear tennis shoes to church the other day with a dress,
but I got some of these from Quince.
Gorgeous, like he's gonna go with everything.
I don't have a pair of like fancy party shoes.
Well, I didn't.
Check out these bad boys.
Does this scream mama for boys who's trying to be femme?
Because that's what I'm trying.
I got these incredible sweats with a lining that's fleece.
I also just got a tea kettle from them,
like a very high quality, amazing, gorgeous tea kettle, electric.
Very, very, very excited about that.
I also got my husband a winter coat.
He needed one.
I think I'm gonna save up and get myself one.
My duvet that you all love so much, Quince.
My kids gingham duvets that you all love so much, Quince.
My new purse.
I haven't had a purse in a very long time.
I'm picky about them.
I have her and she makes me feel like my life isn't chaotic.
I'm telling you guys, every time I wear this, I get a compliment.
It's probably this blue color.
It's probably these accent buttons.
It's probably the way it fits.
I love this perfect crop.
She's cute.
She's lightweight, but she's still warm.
I love her.
These made me throw away every single pair of sweats in my closet.
They look nice.
They don't look drabby.
They're very warm and they have no holes.
Obviously, I am not Tate, but I still had to try this on to show you guys.
This beautiful, warm winter coat.
This is for men.
I repeat, this is for men.
These gingham duvet covers, my children actually picked these out.
They said they're handsome.
I said they're charming.
It was a perfect match.
This is the first purse I've purchased in years, and that makes me love it even more.
I loved it to begin with, but I waited for something that fit my style, fit my life,
and fit all the things I needed to fit in there.
I love this purse.
This tea kettle, also another item my husband and I waited a long time to get,
but y'all know that's part of my brand, waiting for the right thing to come along,
and this is definitely the right electric tea kettle.
As you can see, Quince has something for everyone on their website,
from home goods, to dinnerware, to drinkware, to duvet covers, to rugs,
to winter coats, and to organic cropped sweaters.
There's a reason I love Quince.
They're doing a really good job giving you high quality things at an affordable price.
I will leave a link down below for you guys,
and I will also leave links for every single item that I showed you today.
Thank you again, Quince, for sponsoring this portion of the video.
We're almost done with the closet.
Let's keep going.
Okay, while I'm here, blech, it's a long black dress.
Gauze.
What was with the gauze, Margaret?
What?
She's evolving, Margaret is evolving,
and I want you to hear that loud and clear because you can evolve.
You are allowed to have purchased something just a few months ago,
and you're like, wait, I actually don't like that.
Okay, you have my permission.
Skinny jeans, an absolute no.
I don't know why you're even in here.
Crazy.
Yeah, but they need to leave.
First of all, they're all too small.
If you have something that's too small,
and you're saving it because you just want to fit in it later,
please get rid of it.
I know it's gonna feel scary.
Get rid of it.
This is an old navy, like men's white cardigan.
Never looks good.
I look bulky.
I never feel beautiful.
That needs to go.
This is...
No way.
No freaking way.
It's gauze.
Again, what is with you, girl?
Nothing against gauze.
If you like it, you like it, but I'm just...
I'm over it.
Okay, as a content creator,
I have like a section in my closet of pretty uncomfortable clothes
that I keep for my videos.
Don't judge me.
Don't hate me.
I'm being honest, so I can't get in trouble.
But this is one of them.
She's super uncomfortable, but she looks great in a video.
Next time I wear it, comment.
Comment that my sweater looks great.
Feels good in here.
All right, these pants, they look terrible.
I've never really liked the color.
These pants, they look terrible.
I like the color, but I wore them the other day.
Then I looked in my sister's mirror and I said,
why didn't you tell me I looked like this?
Get you some friends in your life that say like,
hey, never wear those again.
Because she should have said that.
And I called her out.
I said, you need to tell me when I look like an Oompa Loompa next time.
I've got more things to give away.
These pants, they were hand-me-downs and they just do not fit.
These linen pants, I tried so hard to look good in linen pants
because of these pictures right here.
They all look stunning, right?
They just don't work for me.
They don't work for me.
I'm 5'3".
I need really tailored pants.
That's what I'm learning.
Nothing else works.
I'm going to put the microphone down, organize my closet really quick.
I'm going to show you the final.
Be nice.
They're nice people.
Can you give them a smile?
Can you smile?
Nope.
I feel lighter.
I feel more organized.
I feel like I have a little bit more control.
The last few days I've been getting up and getting dressed because it's easy and I feel pretty.
I don't feel frumpy.
Frumpy Margaret is a real thing and she doesn't do well.
I'm literally standing atop the pile and it feels really good to have those pieces out.
I really hope you guys do this.
I really hope you at least get rid of 30 things because it will make you feel different.
It will give you a dopamine hit because you're doing something for yourself.
You're saying no to so many things that are telling you no.
You're saying, wait, no, no, no.
I'm in control here.
I'm not keeping you jeans that don't fit.
It's amazing what's happening in my brain and what happens every time I do this.
Happy decluttering.
I will see you guys next Friday.
