I went out today to get some potting mix at my local hardware store
and what do you know I saw this anthurium and this is just so magnificent and I
couldn't help myself and since Christmas is coming up I thought to myself
what better way to reward myself give myself a gift. Javi used to buy me
lots of Christmas presents. When I saw this anthurium
I can't help it I said I gotta have it there was actually one that's got more
magnificent flower than this one but it's got a lot of damaged leaves and
this one has got only one damaged leaf so I thought
this is my Christmas present. Merry Christmas Lizzie.
One of the first few Echeveria Echeveria that I bought
when I started growing succulents back then when I wasn't even growing
succulents because I don't know what these plants are called but so
this has got to be 2015 so about 10 years or one of the
oldest that I bought in my keeping is this Echeveria
Cocinea and of course look at the legs of that thing so look
how long so my hand so how many pieces is that one
two and half I'm almost three with this top one here and I have never
ever propagated it and this is a very fussy
Echeveria and it almost feels like sticky but not quite
I haven't propagated this one well actually probably I did I lied I did
propagate I broke one off many many years ago because that was
the object I think before yeah I remember now
and I'm going to show you that one I just forgot about that anyway so this
one now needs to be propagated so what I'm going to do with this one is
actually just break it off okay because it is
summertime so I'm going to take one from that I'm
going to leave that one there because you're okay there are you gonna let's
just go and propagate the whole thing okay
so I'm gonna do this upside down in here with an empty pot this used to house
my Ionium Pinkwich which is now gone to heaven for a very long time not coming
back but anyway this one now so I don't know
you're touching I kind of like the really sort of long gangly thing the way
it grows here so see I haven't got the heart to propagate
I'll leave that one already taken one so that one is good enough
and the other one that I've got is this one
so Echeveria Cocinea so this you can tell that it used to be long so this is
probably nine years old so just a year younger than my other one
and of course I was tempted to propagate it last
winter I broke off one of the branches here
that's already dead as well so okay that's it all dry and I broke it off
and look see that's the frost that did that although it's quite frost hardy and
then I stuck it in here and then now this one
look separated you separated my plant this Cocinea now is growing strong
so maybe it's summertime right now and this is the growing season
so I think I'm just cutting this off and I have to
reset it there you go since that's a baby and then
if it grows more plants on the stem which
a lot of times do they do so hang on look how long that is it's all like
oh there you go I all knotted it up so this one now
I'm gonna leave it there to dry up for a couple of hours and then I'm gonna stick
it in soil that's the reason why I went and got some
soil because I'm out of potting mix soil one of my viewers
what is that and foliage okay made a special request
if I could show some fussy plants well plants weed fussy leaves so this is
now another fussy leaves uh Echeveria that is
so I don't know if there's other fussy leaves I know I've got a Hoya with a
fussy leaf but anyway this one has been affected by
iron so the water has got too much iron in it and now it's showing on the leaves
but it has recovered so this is during winter so maybe it was just damaged by
the frost as well I can't really tell because it was almost
dying where I had it over there all cooked up under the shelf
which is that part there so now I moved it to
here and they seem to be recovering so I don't know how many plants I got back
then but anyway this needs to be cleaned up as well
and same as the other one since they're growing
I am going to or this one's gonna have I think
are you a flower or baby I think I'm best leaving this one first for now
I'm not gonna touch it but the minute it starts uh growing or showing
signs of growing of growth I prefer to just leave them alone and let
them do their thing so that way they can gucci
themselves up and when they're all gucci'd up
I'm gonna chop them off. Another fussy Echeverria
is Doris Taylor now this Doris Taylor has got a
story Doris Taylor I've only had one so this is also one of my first
few succulents that I bought and back then I don't even know what this fussy
plant is and it's got a fussy mealybug in there so
this one I started with one plant and of course I did the same thing I chopped it
up neglected it and then of course propagated it grew in
the same pot that it's in anyway it was in a terracotta pot before
and when I found it there was only like two of them left so
the other ones died over the years and so I propagated
and they're quite easy to propagate as well even the leaves
that are growing in fluorescence like this one here we'll pick the one that's
sort of a bit more mature I just leave them there
and I think a couple of them grew from that now this one is gonna
be flowering so I don't know what you call it peduncle or whatever
anyway so the little ankle and now that one I'll
put that there and hopefully that will grow I can only hope
and sometimes hope springs eternal is that saying
and they do grow and so okay I'm gonna leave that or let that grow a little bit
more to mature and then I will harvest the leaves and the same thing
hope that they grow and that's it that way I'm gonna have more Echeveria
uh bad sign because the ants that are crawling
everywhere hang on oops sorry dead now I'm sorry this is the second one there's
another one here a while ago that I also squashed
now this one is flowering and Dorian party girl is also
a fussy plant look it's got all that little hair that's got the fuss thing so
we take this off because okay is that mealybug there anything
that's sort of white anyway I need to clean this up as well
because there's a lot of dry leaves in it
so this one is only a baby so I got this actually
only about three four years ago but this is a Jocelyn
Ainsworth hybrid so from Andorran stud plant
uh stud farm here in Australia so this is I'm assuming that it is her
hybrid because it's called Andorran party girl
and it's quite easy to grow and quite frost hardy this plant
so I had it somewhere else before but then now and it was all red so you can
see the back of the red there so the face of the plant the whole thing even
the the center they were all like really
really red and blushed not quite as red as this oh
Halloween anyway but frost hardy enough from my
area as far as soil is concerned this is just my basic master succulent
soil mix so they like a fast draining soil
and if you give them some healthier soil or more composted soil
chances are they might rot but I've always planted them in my master
succulent soil mix and they seem to be doing well
while we're on the subject of fussiness this is one fussy fussy plant or
actually spiky but look how beautiful that flowering is
oh my goodness so it's ready yesterday one two three four four of
them and I was waiting for this other one to
bloom bloom bloom but it did not so at least now I get to capture
the blooming of this one and of course that one there
look how beautiful beautiful that flower is oh hang on I'm trying to squeeze
this in come on go inside there you go that's better gorgeous
gorgeous gorgeous and of course there's a few more cactus or fussy
ones but this fussy spiky ones that's going
to go ouchie ouchie if it hits you but anyway so look how fussy look at
that tickle tickle tickle there's the flower
it's about to bloom and look at them all of them are all
building up budding up and soon they're going to open up and then also that one
is raributia I think or mammillaria are you okay I don't know it is a
mammillaria something look that poor thing all on its own
another fussy echeveria this is a tosa variety
or diminuta I was going to say variegated no it's a variety diminuta so
look at all that hairy fussiness in it so it's different
it's almost like a cross between okay they've got little
uh fussy star it looks like a star to me in the end anyway so you can see that's
a doris taylor and then this one is diminuta or it's a
tosa variety diminuta and also different to
lycothrica okay lycothrica you see again they're all different
fussiness I didn't think I have a lot of fussy plants
I thought I only have a couple and now that I'm looking for it I could
I find that I got plenty of fussy plants and
is that a fussy plant as well so there's a graptoveria or sedeveria
silver star anyway is that a fussy or it's just
long eyelashes flicky tips long tips look at that hairy tips
and I put this one this is the old long eyelashes that I got from someone look
at that gorgeous isn't it and another long eyelashes
is that one so that one as well look how
beautiful those long tips are it's gorgeous so I got this one from
one of the succulent sellers that used to hybridize a lot of these plants or
their plants and now they don't sell anymore they're
going out of business so which is sad because I bought a lot of plants from
them and that's one of the plants that I got from them
by the way this one I harvested this okay okay I'll put this here
all right that one there is flippy floppy because it's just sitting there
so this is already look it's rooting look see
I harvested it now it's just sitting there I need to
stick that in just want to make sure that one is already set that's set
and then this one I have to tease the soil
so a lot of the succulents they can die if the soil gets compacted so they need
air circulating through the roots they like their roots to be also freshened
up so anyway put that there like so and then push
that underneath so pretty in it like that is so gorgeous okay
there you go now you can grow you can grow baby am I gonna put some stick on
you I think I better because okay I'll leave it it's all
right should be fine there you can go back in there oh my goodness
hello wicked lady you're a wicked wicked lady look how beautiful you are
have you been really really wicked hang on look at this
oh beautiful oh you're growing a baby and you are
being wicked look at that it's got claws as well
ah pointy look oh so you are under the same category as these fuzzy
plants and I think it's growing bumps as well look at that
it's got bumps but I saw ants so maybe yep there's
mealybugs so what I'm going to do is spray it using
my methyl and this is now late in the afternoon
which is around six o'clock so the sun's still out but
anyhoo that can go back up the top do I need to
spray the back now I don't hang on oh okay you go back
in there another fuzzy plant this is trichoderma
densum my goodness trichoderma it is densum yep
I thought I muck up the name but look look how fuzzy that is I think they have
little cute pink flowers but they're already
finished this was a month ago that they bloom and now it's all dried up
so maybe I can get some seeds from that but I'm not holding my breath okay so
but still I like all sorts of plants so you can
see that one too look how beautiful that fuzziness is
but look you're gonna be good mommy loves you
you be good okay that ant I don't like it when I see ant
it's a sign that they are they have something sweet that they're
actually going for but in case they haven't or
they go sorry ant oh I'm gonna be 10,000 times
unbecoming it's gonna take me 10,000 times
before I become a human again because I killed an ant or two or three
today how red is that agarwood look how beautiful that is
which reminds me I've only ever had one leaf propagation of agarwood
that has grown so you can see I paid 20 dollars for that plant
before I'm not gonna well okay at least it's about three years ago
and I stole two leaves and this is one leaf and then another one leaf that I
stole and then this one actually rotted as you
can see it's sort of starting to rot again and then I was able to get one
leaf again and I put it here and it started growing again so now I
got one two three agarwood that are grown from leaves and also
rotting ones so that one from a rotted leaf
and it still grows and got beautiful oh I love my agarwood
I think it's time to repot you and take you out of the nursery because that's
quite big now beautiful beautiful beautiful plant
okay so this cochinea has been hybridized and I think they
turned it into a recorvata and this one got hit by the
frost but I managed to keep it intact and it's still alive
that's important thing so this is actually my second
that I bought okay so cochinea recorvata five dollars is what I paid for it
before and then now it's grown and I just
noticed there's some little pimples it's like a pimple there
and also there and so now I thought how about
let's go take I don't really like the way this is growing here so I'm gonna
chop this off hang on there you go so I'll put you here
propagate you again this one this one is too long
so we'll you've got some babies growing there anyway so I can take this top off
you wouldn't mind there you go so I got two
and then that one is there another I'm gonna leave those two now
but that's too long yeah so that one might not survive
but this one hopefully it will okay I'm gonna leave it because that looks so cute
that leaf okay poor thing I'm just butchering my
plants but if I don't do that they're not gonna grow
and speaking of butchering this one plant that I butchered
about almost two weeks ago this is the ionium that was all yellow that's the
head it was so beautiful and right now they
are dormant so which means they're not gonna grow they're going to sleep because
we had 33 or 34 today it was hot but I wasn't expecting for this thing to
grow pups it's gonna die so I thought I might as well
chop it off in the chance that it will grow some babies
can you see the babies okay okay can you see that I don't know hopefully
see those little pimples there I call them pimples because they're just so
cute little one two three so hopefully they don't go all yellow
or white or pale there's another bump they're growing so
hopefully they will grow into something with chlorophyll with
green that way they don't die but at least
now you can see that the temperature when I chopped this off it was
quite cold we had a cold spell well about 10 days ago
and then so there's a time I chop it off and then now it's growing even though
we're getting warmer weather this thing is trying to hurry up and say
come on push some babies out so that you can still continue to grow
so I think that's what it's trying to do so at least I've got a one two three
very prominent baby bumps baby bumps look how fussy that
clister cactus is beautiful look at that gorgeous
do I want to touch it I think it's soft yes
very soft oh good baby grow baby grow hello Echeverria frosti crested
this was a big crested so it was like huge about that tall big before
and of course over the years the mother plant basically died
and so the babies I harvested and then now they're all growing again so you can
see they have kept their crest so you can see
the cresting so they're not very hard to grow so if
you live somewhere where you don't get frost basically it
is just so easy to grow them so as long as you keep your soil so you
can see this soil here is very very very fast draining I just
watered last night as well so we had 33 yesterday and okay this one now
roots growing okay sorry I've just disturbed it
okay that's a different plant but anyway so they don't need
much looking after so if you forget to water them they will tell you
that they're thirsty because they're gonna shrivel up and sort of
die basically slowly you can see that they're dying like this one here I saw
it dying and because I've overlooked it and I
haven't watered it so you can see here okay there
so that's signs that it's drying up like that so this one did not make it but the
other ones have made it so you can see this dry
so but even if they look like that I don't even worry too much I just stick
it in soil and of course they just recover they will find a way
to survive and if they die they die but others do survive anyway guys
that's all I've got for this video I am going to stretch out hang on
this one as well it's dying this aeonium morning glory I think
but the seeds I want to collect the seeds and that's why I let it grow
otherwise I could chop this off again and new babies will grow there some will
continue to flower but some do grow but anyway I still got a whole heap
of ones that are sort of dormant as well now so I'm not even going to touch them
so this is I think one of my most expensive aeonium so I already took
a couple of cuttings as you can see and they are growing one two there's a few
that I've taken and they're growing now as well anyway guys thank you so much
for watching hope you enjoyed this video and 3F's
feline flowers and foliage I hope you enjoyed this video and thank you so much
for watching again and I'll see you on the next video
do we do crested plants next time okay said goodbye but I just remembered
I've got this Hoya villosa this has got to be one of my favorite
Hoya because of the hairy back so if you feel the back of this it's got I
but you could feel it little fluffy hairy thingy every time I walk past here
I would always touch it that's why probably some of the hairiness of this
one has already disappeared I don't know if it's coming off it's not
and then but it's just so nice to the touch oh I love my Hoya villosa I think
villosa means hairy isn't it there are a lot more fuzzy succulents like this
surprise here so you can see the fuzziness on the surface of the leaves
and of course this ruby slippers Pombinata that I have grown in the shade
just so they can grow fast and now I can actually repot this or take
them out of this foam box here and plant them in a pretty
pretty pot and then that way I can expose them to
the sun so they can be all nice and red and look like a ruby
also this nice cute fussy sempervii I chryson the tencortianum also got
fussy and sort of a sticky sticky surface which is so nice and also this
ionium here as well got a little fuzziness there's so many
other plants that I can't really cover a lot of them or else this video is
just gonna go on and on this and the last fussy succulent for this
so the whole stem or stalk or leaves however you want to call it
is all this fussy soft soft soft soft like a jumper
coating and look better not touch it because there's lots of babies growing
as well but anyway guys that's it that's really it so I'm now inside here because
it's getting hot outside and then of course the fungus gnats are getting
zapped because they're all active again so don't forget to stick your yellow
paper
