Wie kannst du sagen, dass du krank bist?
How can you say that you're sick in German?
There are a lot of different ways.
Also als erstes kannst du sagen, ich bin krank.
Du kannst aber auch sagen, ich fühle mich krank.
Oder ich fühle mich nicht so gut.
Or how would you say that you're sick to your stomach?
Like nauseous.
Mir ist übel.
Übel ist das.
Und das Nomen dafür ist Übelkeit.
And how do you say to vomit?
So the formal way is kind of
Ich muss mich übergeben.
Übergeben is like to overgive.
So you're overgiving something.
But there is another way in informal language.
We usually just say kotzen.
Zum Beispiel, ich muss kotzen.
Oder er hat gekotzt.
But in a doctor's office you would normally say
Ich habe mich übergeben.
I had to vomit.
How do you say that you feel a bit like
You know, you would say
Mir ist schwindelig.
Oh, Doktor, mir ist so schwindelig.
Ja, wow.
Then if you have pain, how would you say that?
So for example, I have a headache.
Ich habe Kopfschmerzen.
But you can also say
Mir tut der Kopf weh.
Oder ich habe Migräne.
Ich habe Migräne.
How would you say you have a stomach ache?
The belly is hurting.
Ich habe Bauchschmerzen.
Or you can also say
Again, when you use wehtun
How would you say it?
Mir tut der Bauch weh.
Oh, Mama, mir tut der Bauch weh.
So now if you have any pain
You can usually use schmerzen.
So for example, you can also say
Ich habe Halsschmerzen.
Ich habe Kopfschmerzen.
Ich habe Bauchschmerzen.
Now when one part of the body hurts
Usually we use
Mir tut etwas weh.
Mir tut die Hand weh.
Mir tut die Schulter weh.
Mir tun die Augen weh.
Everything hurts and I'm dying.
Ah, und noch etwas ganz wichtiges.
If you have back pain
How do you say this auf Deutsch?
Ich habe Rückenschmerzen.
Rückenschmerzen.
So and now some words
If you feel something on your skin
How do you say this?
So for example, itching.
Es juckt.
Meine Haut juckt.
Ich muss kratzen.
To scratch means kratzen.
Oft sagt der Arzt dann nicht kratzen.
Don't scratch. Nicht kratzen.
How would you say when it's just
A little feeling like
Wir sagen grippeln.
Es grippelt.
And when it's burning
How would you say this?
Es brennt. Brennen is the literal
Translation of burning.
Oh, meine Haut brennt.
Es brennt.
Und ein paar typische Symptome
Von einer Grippe.
Also erstmal, zu Grippe
Sagen wir auch oft Erkältung.
Die Erkältung oder die Grippe.
Dann, was hast du?
Du hast manchmal Fieber.
Ich habe Fieber.
Ich habe Husten.
Ich habe Schnupfen.
Und was hier noch ganz
Wichtig ist, was auch manche Leute haben
Diarrhea.
Das ist der
Durchfall.
I think actually in German it's really funny this word.
Because it's like a true fall.
It just falls through.
Der Durchfall.
I should note, I'm having some
Digestive distress.
Und was ist das Gegenteil von
Durchfall?
What is the opposite of diarrhea?
Auf Deutsch sagen wir die Verstopfung.
Etwas ist verstopft.
Das bedeutet, das ist voll.
Und es geht nicht durch.
Verstopft.
verletzt.
Und jetzt habe ich eine Wunde.
Und man sagt dann auch, es
blutet.
Es blutet.
Und wenn man eine Wunde hat,
dann macht man ein
Pflaster drauf.
Ein Pflaster
drauf. Das ist für die
Wunde. Und dann
noch etwas, was auch oft passiert.
What happens quite a lot.
Ich bin hingefallen.
I fell down.
Ich bin hingefallen.
Und ich habe mir
mein Bein gebrochen.
I broke my neck.
Ich habe mir mein Bein gebrochen.
Oder ich habe mir meinen Arm gebrochen.
Und jetzt
muss ich ins Krankenhaus.
Und vielleicht muss ich
operiert werden.
Operieren.
To have surgery.
Der Doktor oder der Arzt
operiert mich.
Das ist eine schwierige
Operation.
It's a difficult surgery.
For example. I hope all this stuff
never happens to you.
Ich hoffe, das alles passiert dir nie.
Wir haben jetzt sehr viele neue Wörter
gelernt.
I think we learned a lot of new words.
So first of all, how do you say something is itching?
Es juckt.
How do you say I broke
my neck?
Ich habe mein Bein
gebrochen.
How do you say back pain?
I have back pain.
Ich habe Rückenschmerzen.
Rückenschmerzen.
Or what else could you say?
Mein Rücken tut weh.
Mein Rücken
tut weh.
And how do you say this one again?
What you put on a Wunde.
Das macht man auf eine Wunde.
Das ist ein Pflaster.
Das Pflaster.
I hope you learned a lot. So when you go to
the doctor, you know some of
these words and you can have a conversation with the
doctor or if he asks you something
you know how to answer.
Also check out our other video
about the dialogue at the doctor's
office. That's also very useful
and there you learn even more vocabulary.
Alles klar. Dankeschön und
Tschüss.
