I'm gonna show you what I eat in a day as a Vietnamese.
As you guys can see my eyes are still swollen because I just woke up
and now let's get some breakfast.
This is definitely better than Pho, I guarantee you.
This noodle dish is called Bún Riêu, Vietnamese crab noodle soup.
It consists of thin vermicelli bún, beef, fried tofu, Vietnamese bologna,
Before eating it, I usually add a little bit of shrimp paste and chili.
You can add some garlic vinegar if you want.
Even though I'm Vietnamese, I just want to give you a heads up
is that when you sit on the sidewalk on the street like this,
pay attention to your belongings.
Don't put it on the chair or anything else, just keep it with you.
Better safe than sorry.
Okay, I'm gonna tie my hair up.
This bún riêu is real good.
So the Vietnamese crab noodle soup or bún riêu
originated from the Red River Delta in northern Vietnam.
The distinct flavor comes from riêu, which is the paste from pounding the crabs,
both shell and all into fine paste,
which is then strained and heat to form a fluffy, protein-rich cake that floats in the broth.
And the second most important factor that contributes to this delicious dish is the broth.
It's made from stewed tomato, a little bit of vinegar to enhance the tangy flavor,
and of course, the crabs to create the natural sweetness for the broth.
That's what I love about Vietnamese cuisine is that people are so creative,
mixing and matching all the local ingredients
to make this sophisticated, delicious dish that I'm having right now.
Oh my gosh, I love this part.
If you're in the U.S., it's called pork rind, right?
It is super crispy.
And in Vietnamese, that part is called tóp mỡ.
So if you want extra, you can just say thêm tóp mỡ.
Let me show you how crunchy it is.
It's so fatty.
I know it's not healthy, but it's so good.
Beef is thin sliced and it's very soft.
Tofu is cut very beautifully.
It's slightly crispy outside because they are fried,
but it's still soft, fluffy, and spongy inside.
I didn't know this one has a shrimp in it.
But it's still ground pork, shrimp, and peppers.
Very soft and bouncy.
In Vietnam, if you go eat on the street, you will have free music or free karaoke.
Can you guys hear it?
I hope it's not copyrighted on YouTube.
Also, this dish is one of the most popular dishes in Hanoi.
I'm from Hanoi.
So during the winter, you're going to see people eat bún riêu a lot on the street.
If you want to learn more about local food and hidden gems in Vietnam,
don't forget to check out my ebook.
I'll leave it in the description box below.

because I see the majority of you guys haven't followed me yet.
And also turn on the bell too so you can get notified.
All right, guys.
Let's see if I have any green onions on my teeth.
No, right?
Okay, guys.
So I'm full and happy.
Let's go to my favorite coffee shop to have some matcha and get to work.
All right, let's go.
So in the morning, I would go to coffee shop to brainstorm some video ideas.
The good thing is public Wi-Fi in Vietnam is strong and ubiquitous,
but then it's not always safe.
There are many times I'm doing research or booking my flight tickets online.
My screen is flooded with unwanted ads and misleading information.
That's why.
Let me turn on my Surfshark VPN, which is my lifesaver.
And also, I've been using this service long enough
to trust the brand to be the sponsor for today's video.
What I love the most about Surfshark is that
it can protect my personal information online.
Surfshark will help block ads, trackers, and malwares,
which contain malicious links or viruses.
Plus, they have a new feature called Email Scam Checker,
which is a tool integrated in Chrome browser extension and Gmail
designed to protect you from phishing attacks and email scams.
As a creator, this feature is so helpful to me
because I receive many sketchy sponsor emails from AI.
So this feature helps me filter out a lot of them,
and it saves me from a lot of headaches.
And if you are a globe charter like me,
good news for you is that Surfshark has 4,500 servers in 140 locations,
making your online experience smoother and more secure.
For my dear followers, I have asked Surfshark to give you a special deal.
Type surfshark.com slash pho
and apply the code PHO at the checkout for four extra months of Surfshark.
And if you change your mind, don't worry,
because they offer the 30-day money-back guarantee.
So no risk for you.
The ultimate goal for you is to feel secure and safe
both online and offline while traveling to a new country.
So this is a place that I usually come to work.
And when you come to Vietnam, remember to check out this place.
It's called Every Half,
and they have many locations in District 1, 2, 3, and around Ho Chi Minh City.
Every Half is known for roasting and brewing
finest specialty coffee around Vietnam,
and their coffee is absolutely delicious.
But today, I'm going to introduce you to one of my most favorite drinks,
which is the matcha with a melon from Minh Thuot.
So refreshing.
What I love the most about my drink is the shot of melon from Minh Thuot.
And this shot is just so beautiful.
Looking at it, smelling it, and tasting it
make me really appreciate the effort of the farmers.
And also, they have a little card telling you how to use this drink
and also where it's from.
So it's very informative.
Cheers!
Sweet.
Also, try their coffee with milk with their melon.
Surprisingly, they go well together.
Very interesting and very creative.
So yeah, as a creator, I love to go to co-working spaces to work.
And I think this place is very ideal because I love the greenery here,
and it's very spacious.
Their drinks are delicious.
Also, their pastries are good too.
So for lunch, I'm going to take you guys to one of my favorite spots in District 3.
And the dish is called Mì Quảng,
originated from Quảng Nam province.
And that's what I love about Saigon.
In the morning, I can have the food from northern part of Vietnam.
For lunch, I'm going to have somewhere from the central Vietnam.
And maybe for dinner, I'm going to have something
that is from the southern part of Vietnam.
So yeah, when you come to Ho Chi Minh City,
you don't have to worry about missing out or anything
because you can find any type of dishes from all the regions around Vietnam.
Mì Quảng contains rice noodles, ribs, shrimp, and eggs.
You can eat it with a little bit of chili, lime,
crackers, and a bunch of healthy vegetables.
Be aware of peanuts if you're allergic to them.
I'm literally changing my channel from WTF to a noodle girl
because I love noodles so much.
The meat is so soft, you guys.
It absorbs the sauce very, very well.
So you wonder why the broth is yellow?
It's because they use turmeric.
So the reason why I love eating Mì Quảng so much
is because first of all, I love noodles.
I love big, thick noodles.
Second of all, you can eat Mì Quảng in any type of weather
because they have very little broth.
So that's why it doesn't make you sweat when you eat it during summer days.
And when it's cold, it's hot enough to keep your body warm.
And also, the history of Mì Quảng is very interesting.
Mì means noodles and Quảng is from Quảng Nam province.
It's in the central part of Vietnam
where there are limited resources because of natural disasters.
So basically, people just use what they have to make Mì Quảng.
This is a simple and humble dish
and it represents the lifestyle and the philosophy of Quảng Nam people.
And you know, Mì actually means like wheat noodles
and the idea was brought by Chinese people.
But you know, Vietnam grows a lot of rice, right?
So that's why people use rice to make noodles in Vietnam.
And it shows how adaptive and how flexible Vietnamese people are.
This dish is a perfect combination of multiple cultures
because Quảng Nam was part of Chamba back then.
And also, Hội An is such an important trade from the 16th to the 18th century.
You can see the Japanese bridge in Hội An.
I feel like every bite has a rich history and story in it.
Alright guys, so it's dinner time and I want something light.
Plus, it's raining right now so I want something warm.
That's why we're gonna have some squid porridge today.
And as a Vietnamese, porridge has a special place in my heart
because you know, it's your childhood food.
Whenever I got sick when I was a kid, my mom would cook porridge for me.
So yeah, today I'm gonna introduce you to one of my favorite porridge places.
It's called Cháo Mực Thanh Sơn.
Alright, let's go.
This place has been in business for 40 years.
And what I love the most is that they always remember my order.
Cháo Mực Đặc Biệt with fried dough sticks,
blood pudding, squid, sprouts, and a century egg on the side.
This century egg is amazing.
A must try.
Do all YouTubers do this when they show their food?
Or is it just me?
When I eat porridge, I usually put a little bit of chili
because I love spicy food.
And then also I would squeeze some lime in there.
I also love that they have ginger in here
because ginger can keep your body warm.
So comforting.
I love the umami and slightly spicy flavor of this porridge.
It feels like a warm soup huck on a rainy day.
So this porridge restaurant is near the University of Architecture.
So if you come here around like 4 or 5 p.m,
you're gonna see there are a lot of students eating porridge.
Back then, students didn't have a lot of money
so the owner just told them to eat and then pay later.
And then after that, when they became very successful,
some of them came back and tried to pay her.
But then she said no.
Alright guys, so I'm pretty full.
I'm gonna go home now.
And I hope you enjoyed this video today.
Thank you so much for watching.

and share this one to your loved ones
