So today we're making our birthday cake
granola, which is one of our best
sellers. We'll first start off with
pouring in the oats. So we have this
lovely scale here, and we have
everything weighed out in grams, so we
know how many grams of each ingredient
that we need so it all stays consistent.
Now that we're done with the dry
ingredients, then we'll move on into
putting all these wet ingredients into a
pot. Can I pour the honey?
>> Yes, please do.
>> How much are we going for on this one?
118 grams. Oh,
>> okay.
>> It comes out fast. I'm
>> kind of scared.
>> It comes out fast, so got it. Be
prepared.
>> Okay. How'd you guys figure out the
exact measurements for everything?
>> Lots of recipe testing.
>> Do you guys both taste test each batch
when it comes to quality control, or is
one of you the like specific taste
tester? We actually do not taste test
each batch because we do have the
numbers down so exact, but at the
beginning of our business, we ate our
fair share of granola. And now we're
gonna do the cake batter flavoring. So
it's what actually gives it the birthday
cake flavor. Yes.
>> Oh my gosh, it smells just like cake
batter.
>> If we can make a candle out of this one,
we would.
>> Mhm.
>> So we normally do it on low heat so that
it doesn't heat up too quickly. And we
want it to melt and all the flavors to
get together.
>> Oh, it smells so good. It smells
heavenly.
>> Yes.
>> So you mentioned there was a time when
granola just tasted like nothing. What
did you want to do differently with this
business? We didn't want to be just
another granola on the shelf. We wanted
to bring some bold flavors. So that's
why we went with birthday cake and
cinnamon roll and iced lemon cookie and
not your average granola flavors.
>> So now we're just going to pour it.
>> Yeah. Now we're going to pour it on pan.
>> Next we have to put the sprinkles on
top.
>> That's what makes it fun.
>> Oh my gosh, I love this.
>> What next?
>> It's ready for the oven.
>> Ready for the oven? Yes. Let's put it
in.
So, while we wait for our delicious
granola to bake, I have prepared some
ideas for new flavors.
>> All right. So, feel free to tell me what
you feel like, but I wrote them down.
Okay.
>> Okay. My first one is ice cream cone.
>> So, it would be like a vanilla bean and
then also there'd be chocolate drizzle
on top and pieces of waffle cone.
>> That sounds
>> The one thing would be getting the
waffle cone gluten-free, but we could do
it.
>> We could get that for sure. S'mores.
>> We've done the s'mores flavored it.
>> Oh my gosh. Was it good?
>> Sometimes the marshmallows get stale.
>> Movie theater popcorn.
>> Okay.
>> What are your thoughts?
>> I mean,
>> like a savory granola.
>> Let's make granola the new movie snack.
I like it.
>> Key lime pie.
>> A lot of people have suggested that
flavor. A lot of people want it.
>> So, there's certain smells that I just
love. There's certain things that I just
really would like to be granola. And
since you guys can granola anything, I
think that we can make it happen. Number
one, circus. And but by that I don't
mean circus cookie. I just mean circus.
>> Just circus.
>> Yeah.
>> And then I'm going to go with fresh car
smell. Do you guys think you could turn
that into a granola?
>> You know that smell when you crack open
a pack of tennis balls. Gasoline and
Sharpie because those are two like
highly coveted smells, but you're not
really allowed to smell them cuz it like
kind of like hurts your brain. I think
>> I think it's ready.
>> Okay. Yeah.
And I am officially a granola girl. The
third one.
