Experience one of Colorado’s most breathtaking winter scenic drives as we travel from Royal Gorge, Cañon City to Ouray, Colorado, passing through the stunning Monarch Mountain and Monarch Mountain Pass region. This drive is part of our epic Dallas-to-Colorado road trip, showcasing dramatic mountain landscapes, snow-covered peaks, and unforgettable highway views. It was on 26 Nov 2025 during our Thanksgiving break road trip from Dallas.
Although Monarch Mountain Pass was closed due to heavy snowfall from the previous day, the scenery was absolutely magical. The mountains were completely blanketed in fresh white snow, turning this drive into a true winter wonderland. We stopped at Monarch Mountain to enjoy the views, soak in the alpine atmosphere, and capture some incredible snowy visuals for this scenic drive episode.
