Arsenal can extend their lead at the top to five points if they can overcome a very much out of
form Wolverhampton Wanderers. With Manchester City and Aston Villa both playing on Sunday
this is a golden opportunity for another victory. The Gunners have won 10 out of 11 at home in all
competitions drawing the other. Wolves have not won in a away game since April and the Old Gold
are currently 13 points off safety. The Gunners have won their last eight matches against Wolves
and Wanderers only win at the Emirates was in late 2020. To say the odds are heavily stacked
in Arsenal's favour is an understatement. Top plays bottom it's Arsenal versus Wolverhampton
Wanderers. William Saliba returns to the Arsenal starting lineup having missed out on the last
four games through injury. Durian Timber and Declan Rice are both past fit and they start too.
Ezer and Saka receive recalls. Lewis Skelly, Norgard, Udagard, Madaweke and Moreno are all
named on the bench. As for Wolves three changes from Rob Edwards. Doherty, Juarez Gomez and Hwang
all come into the side. Belgarde misses out with a hamstring injury. Hoover and Arias drop to the
bench. These formations, these positions so interchangeable and these Arsenal players do it so well.
Saka plays one in. There's the head up. It's off target in the end from Durian Timber.
Yeah good play from Bakao Saka just cutting aside Muller-Wolfe just getting onto his
left foot just a little curve ball in just putting a bit of swazz on it. Durian Timber.
Let's leave that for another day. It's Subhimendi, White, Timber. Now Saka seeing plenty of the ball
early on. Saka does well. Clips it across. Headed down by Rice. It's a comfortable save at the end
but again Bakao Saka getting room to manoeuvre on that right hand side. Yeah good play from Bakao
Saka going on the outside of Muller-Wolfe just getting his right foot across in. Declan Rice
maybe just needs to time his run a little bit. I've gotten a bit too early. Not a bad delivery
either. It's Subhimendi and Wolves can break here. Here's Hoang who's away on goal. He's got to go on
his own. Arsenal trying to get back. Hoang, Timber trying to get to him. It's still Hoang forces a
save out of Raya. That's a brilliant save from David Raya. Obviously he had Timber just breathing
down his neck. Again that's how sloppy we are. Subhimendi gives the ball away. There's no way
that Hoang should be the furthest man forward with nobody picking him up. So just a lack of
communication. Rice's corner. That's a better ball in. Martinelli heads it across. Somehow
it didn't go on target. It's out for a goal kick. Fantastic delivery from Declan Rice.
Can't believe it as he looks away. It's Martinelli just standing at the back. Subhimendi making a
decoy run as it comes to Martinelli. It just looked like he lost the flight of the ball
because he hasn't actually jumped. He's just got his feet on the floor where if he's jumping then
he heads that in at the far post. Ezer. Saka. First time. That's better. And at the back post.
Oh it's off target. Martinelli was tearing in again. Brilliant play from Bakayo Saka.
Just again getting down the outside. Good play from Ezer. Bakayo Saka picks the right pass.
Just puts it across six yard box. Jokeres has a little dive in. Tries to get it.
And it comes to Martinelli on the far post. I think it's good defending the end by
Doherty. He just gets a little shin on it. Rice will take it. Over comes the corner.
Johnson's punch not convincing. Martinelli in there again but it's stabbed wide.
Yeah great delivery from Declan Rice. Sam Johnson the Wolves goalkeeper decides that he's going to
to Martinelli. He's sent up the field by Totti. Saliba with the header.
Strand-Larsen wins it back and Wolves come forwards with João Gomes. Now Muller-Wolfe plays
it in. Strand-Larsen could be in. That's a good block. Then Gomes. Still not clear. Then eventually
Rice is in a good place and again Arsenal just for a moment there looked in the spot of bother.
Again Muller-Wolfe. It's a good cross in. Strand-Larsen obviously. Encafie slips. It comes to
João Gomes and lucky enough that we react very very quickly just there. Encafie does brilliantly
to get his block in. Martinelli trying to take on Doherty. That's better. Martinelli still going
right across the face of the goal and wide but that was so much better. Far more energy. Great
turn from Martinelli. Drops his shoulder. Gives Doherty the see you later. Gets on the outside of
him but again it's just that that final decision making where he gets himself just trying to bend
it in Sam Johnson's far post. Maybe she's just rolling it across the six-yard box. Rice goes
short. Timber. Saka. He sends it in. Llocares got a flick to that but it's off target.
Yeah decent ball in from Vako Saka. Just getting in a little bit earlier. Llocares just trying to
get away from his marker. So he just got the first contact. Just a little flick on. Unfortunately
Trossard couldn't quite get himself in at the far post. So will it be Rice? It is Declan Rice.
Good effort. Wasn't far away. Johnson got a touch to that corner. Brilliant save from Sam Johnson.
Excellent free kick from Declan Rice. She's trying to bend it obviously in that top left hand corner.
Saka's corner. Deeper one. Johnston. It's hit the post. It's gone in. And Vako Saka
may well claim that. Johnston just couldn't keep it out. It cannoned off the post and Arsenal have
taken the lead. Fantastic delivery from Vako Saka. I've been saying all evening that you've got to
make the goalkeeper make a decision. Vako Saka has delivery at the far post. It looks like it could
creep in. Rob Edwards looks on. Just can't believe that his team have defended for so long and can
see such a sloppy goal. Here's Saka. Again good feet. Odegaard tries to burrow through. Odegaard!
Side netting. Oh I might know Odegaard's got to go across Sam Johnson. Odegaard just riding a couple
of challenges. Trossard plays it in again. Llocares. Good turn away. Right across the face of the goal
and wide. That was good hold up by Llocares. Good turn but off target. That's Llocares at his best.
That's exactly what he wants. Great little dink in. Great first touch of his outside of his right foot.
Just spins him. Gets his left foot shot in. Rice and Marino combining. Good football from Arsenal.
Saka. Off he goes again. Odegaard. Trossard. Oh went for the near post. I think he gave the
keeper the eyes there. Yep. So just Trossard trying to reverse it back across himself.
I think he should still be going across the goal you know because you make the goalkeeper make a save.
A little bit edgy at the moment. Mane gets a shot. It deflects and it's in.
It's been turned in by Tolu and Wolves out of nothing have equalized. Saka plays another one in.
There's the header and the goal. Gabriel Jesus is off the bench and has he won it for Arsenal?
Tim that is a massive, massive goal. Fantastic play from Vakao Saka on the right hand side.
Some debate whether it was Jesus' goal. He may have taken a deflection on the way in and the
whistle has gone. Immense relief around the Emirates. Absolute carnage at the finish.
Rob Ebbers, Wolves. They were plucky opponents. Arsenal went in front. Saka's corner. Back off
Johnston into the goal. Wolves out of nothing equalized through Tolu their substitute.
Saka's delivery. We thought Jesus' header had gone in. May have taken a deflection in as well
late on but Arsenal will not care because they've got the three points. They are back five points
clear. There's no Saturday Night Fever here. Arsenal are top guaranteed regardless of the
outcomes tomorrow but my goodness they had to work for it. Immense relief here around the
Emirates Stadium. It's finished. Arsenal 2, Wolves 1.
