Crocs are on my NEVER WEAR list! I don't care if the entire world is styling them, they will never adorn my feet!! Love the retro sneakers and boat shoes!!
Today's video is kindly sponsored by Squarespace.
Fall 2025 is bringing some big changes in shoe trends.
And trust me, you don't want to be the last to know about them.
So today I'm sharing the best shoe trends for the season
and more importantly, how to make them work in your wardrobe right now.
Hi, I'm Leonie and welcome to my channel.
I love talking about shoes and I think looking at some of the views
that I've had on some of my recent videos where I've talked about shoe trends.
You guys love shoes as much as I do.
So that makes me really happy.
In today's episode, I have got some epic shoe trends
that I'm sure you're going to love as much as I do.
I do have one that I'm a little horrified by, but I'm guessing
there will be someone out there that will like this particular trend.
I might keep it to last, but if you're interested
and you want to know about this trend that I'm not a fan of,
but I'm sure someone out there will be.
Just keep watching.
Now, this first trend is a real goody and it is suede boots.
Now, I've talked in a recent video about suede having a very big moment
this season when it comes to fashion pieces.
And the same applies with our footwear.
So beautiful suede boots with a really lovely chunky block style heel
are going to be very happening this season.
Now, one, they are super comfortable.
That block heel, you just can't beat.
And two, I love the fact that suede is just a little bit more
interesting sometimes than a classic leather boot.
And they just have a sort of understated elegance about them.
Now, I know that suede isn't a top priority for a lot of people,
and especially if you live somewhere that it rains a lot or snows.
And suede is a little bit limiting in that respect
in terms of wearing them outside in nasty conditions.
But if you are looking for a boot that's timeless, it's comfortable
and it's going to work back with a lot of different outfits and colors
and potentially pieces that you already own, then you should definitely
take a look at some of these gorgeous suede boots on offer.
And we've seen a lot of animal prints in fashion and clothing
over the last few seasons.
And of course, animal print is a timeless classic option.
And it's very much treated as a neutral.
And there are some amazing options
when it comes to animal print footwear this season, too,
which I'm particularly excited about.
I read somewhere that it might have been in Vogue or Who What Wear
that said it's a veritable jungle out there when it comes to animal
print footwear options for the season.
And I couldn't agree more.
And there seems to be pretty much everything on offer
when it comes to these animal inspired footwear options.
So I think things like little booties or little flats
or even knee high boots as well, if you really want to make a statement.
But I do love the idea of these animal print
or sort of snakeskin type options for footwear,
because it's always really easy to go for more of a tame option.
Pardon the pun, which is kind of more of a classic black boot
or black shoe when it comes to fall winter.
But styling some of these animal print options are actually really easy.
And sometimes they can kind of just lighten up your outfit a little bit.
I don't know whether you've ever worn a black boot
and just felt that it was really heavy for your outfit.
Wearing more of a lighter animal print
inspired option is far easier to style than you may imagine.
And it goes with lots and lots of different colors and outfits
and designs.
So they're really surprisingly easy to style as well.
So if you are looking to upgrade your footwear and you would
generally tend to go for something safe and classic like a black,
maybe have a little bit of a double take or a second look
at some of these animal inspired options instead.
Anyway, at this point, I'd just like to say a very big thank you to the team
at Squarespace for sponsoring this portion of today's episode.

Anyway, let's get back on to talking about shoes.
Now, this one has had me a little horrified,
not as much as the one that I'm going to share with you shortly.
But it is the return of wedge heeled sneakers.
Now, I owned a pair back in the day, and at the time I absolutely loved them.
I thought that I was the bee's knees wearing my wedge sneakers.
They gave me some height, but ultimate comfort.
And there was a time, well, years back
when all of the kind of cool girls were wearing these wedge sneakers,
which are basically a sneaker with a concealed wedge heel in them.
So you don't really see it, but you get that height.
Now, they're comfortable, they're great, and they are on their way back.
It's going to be a big no from me.
I just can't see myself going there again.
It is one of those styles that I remember when I discarded the two pairs
that I owned, a Nike pair and what was the other?
Might have been a no name brand.
I can't remember.
I was so relieved when I finally moved them out of my closet
that I just can't see myself bringing them back in again,
even though they are trending, but they are happening.
And certainly if you're petite or you like to get a little bit of extra height
then and you like the comfort of a sneaker,
then these are a great option for you.
For me, it's a no, but I can see that they are going to be super popular
as they were back when and I couldn't put a video like this together
without also including classic loafers.
And we have seen a lot of loafers over the last few seasons.
But if you have invested in this trend, the good news is
they are not going anywhere.
So expect to see plenty of loafers, boat shoes, very sort of low profile
boat shoes, though.
And the loafers, I should mention, have a what I what I have noticed
is that a lot of them have some interesting kind of buckle details as well.
And I think think that that is probably the update
that we're seeing this season when it comes to loafers.
I used to be a loafer fan many years ago.
I think that I might actually even go there again with this particular trend.
I love the fact that they're super practical once you kind of wear them in.
They're also incredibly comfortable and they do work back with lots of the kind
of wider leg jeans and pants and styles that are happening at the moment.
But let me know in the comments below.
Are you a fan of loafers?
Are you into this look?
Is it a little bit too preppy or old school for you?
I would love to know what you think in the comments below.
I'm a little bit on the fence, but I am erring on the side
of giving them a go again.
And I did just mention boat shoes, and they probably deserve a moment
on their own as well, because boat shoes have been here a little bit,
but they are building.
And I've seen so many different brands and designers
doing their own kind of spin on a classic boat shoe.
The only difference this season is that they seem to be slimming down a little bit.
So they're quite slim lined, laced up in that sort of classic boat shoe way.
And if you do want to get ahead of the trend, then there are plenty around
that you can buy now and jump on the trend now.
They look great paired back with denim, even with dresses and skirts
and with beautiful suits.
So they're really versatile and they're a little bit of a comfortable
alternative to loafers.
So I think of them as a really versatile shoe that can be dressed up
and worn more casually and a little bit of a change
from just your classic loafer.
One of the other big, really wearable shoe trends for the season
is a Mary Jane ballet flat.
So just your classic kind of ballet flat with that really lovely strap detail.
Now they are being seen in leather options.
There's some studded options and there's some beautiful velvets
and different fabrics.
And of course, they're going to be weather dependent on when
and how you can wear them.
But they look really great worn back with some of the barrel style jeans and pants.
And they can also be teamed with some different colored or interesting socks
as well when the weather gets really cool.
But again, I think that they're a feminine take.
We've just talked about the boat shoes and loafers.
And if you're looking for something that is as versatile and wearable,
but it's potentially just a little bit more feminine than these ballet
flat Mary Janes are a really good option.
One of the other key trends is Western style boots.
And I think the issue that I have with this trend or the thing
that I think is worth talking about with this trend,
sometimes the whole Western styling can just be a step too far for some of us.
But I love the fact that this season, a lot of the boots
are referencing a kind of a Western style boot, but really subtly.
So you can get boots that don't make you look like you have just got off a horse.
So they've kind of got subtle references to the look
without kind of an extreme version of a Western boot.
So that sort of pullback option is kind of where it's happening.
Obviously, if you love your typical classic Western styling,
then that's going to work back as well.
But I do really like the fact that this season is all about
a Western style boot that's just a little bit pulled back.
And for that reason, certainly for me, I think it's a little bit
of an easier option to style.
Now, I couldn't put a video like this together without also mentioning sneakers.
And the key trend for the season when it comes to sneakers
is retro sneakers, which we've seen a lot of over the last couple of years.
And that's not a look that's going anywhere.
So retro sneakers are very much happening.
And in particular, very slim line, almost sort of the slimmer
the sneaker, the better at the moment.
But with that being said, for me personally, I'm still wearing
my almost dad style kind of Asics sneakers.
And I'm also wearing my OG Sambas as well.
I think if you're a sneaker fan, anything goes.
I'm also loving the colorful options this season.
So all of these cool retro styles with interesting color options.
I've got my new favorite Pumas on today, which are a lot of fun.
And I'm really enjoying kind of pulling some of the colors from them
and teaming them in other parts of my outfits.
And I think that's one of the beauties of these sneakers.
You can wear them as a way of introducing
or kind of making your outfit cohesive by wearing other pieces
with similar colors, or they can be the statement.
So your outfit can be neutral and those colorful sneakers can be the wow factor.
They're really easy to style. They're fun.
I think the key is not to overthink it, just to grab yourself
a pair of colorful retro sneakers and then team them with everything you own.
Now, I'm not sure whether you're going to be excited
or delighted or horrified by this trend,
but clogs are back and in particular edgy clogs.
What seems to be happening this season is that they are sleeker
and almost more elevated than they have been in the past.
When I think about clogs, I always think about really sort of chunky
wooden sole, hard to walk in clogs.
But that's not only what is happening.
There's definitely a progression when it comes to clogs
that has made them far more wearable and I think also far more versatile.
I would look at this trend as a bit of a fun trend
because there are some really fun options out there.
There are some really sleek and stylish clogs,
but there are also some pops of color and some furry options.
And of course, you've got your cozy clogs in like your Uggs styles and Crocs.
Dare I say, hey, who likes Crocs?
I have been thinking about getting a pair.
I don't know if they're right for me, but I'm kind of thinking about it.
My boys are encouraging me to buy a pair of Crocs, but just not sure.
But let me know, what do you think about Crocs?
Just as a complete aside.
But anyway, clogs are definitely happening for fall.
I love the fact that you can wear some nice chunky warm socks
and slide in and out of them.
And the other great thing about clogs, of course, is that versatility.
When you arrive home, you can quickly slide out or out of your clogs.
And when you head to someone's house, you can slide them off at the front door easily.
So they are versatile, but they are fun and just a little bit more sophisticated.
And there's just more options when it comes to different styles this season.
So think about clogs as a fun, fun option for fall.
Now, last but not least, and this is the trend that I am really pretty horrified by
because it's basically like, imagine it here, if a sneaker,
your classic kind of sneaker, got together with, say, a loafer and they had a baby.
That would be this new style shoe.
So it's a real hybrid.
It's kind of a sneaker loafer cross.
And I just, I'm not feeling it.
I mean, I can kind of see the appeal, but I do think a sneaker should be a sneaker
and a loafer should be a loafer.
When the two meet, it just doesn't make something that looks particularly pretty in my mind.
But let me know what you think.
I've obviously put up a couple of pictures here.
I just think they look weird and kind of wrong and strange.
I could be wrong.
You may love them, but please let me know.
But these hybrid sneakers are not obviously going to be a massive trend,
but they are creeping in.
And I think like that classic, once you see something,
you keep sort of seeing it everywhere.
And that's what's been happening with me and these particular sneakers.
I hope that they kind of just go away, but they are here.
And that's why I thought it is well worth mentioning them in today's episode.
But please let me know what you think of them.
And if you're someone that keeps falling for fashion trends
that are just not right for you, then this video right here will help.
