Neil Warnock is the epitome of a English football manager with all respect. He's an Icon of the English game.
Have you seen on YouTube there's a video that compares you to Pep Guardiola, your manager?
No, no, say it again, Jack. Have I seen a video of Pep that compares him to Neil Warnock?
Is that right? You want to say it again? Say it again now.
Neil, have you seen on YouTube there's a video that compares
Pep Guardiola to the great Neil Warnock?
Thank you.
I was wondering if we could show you a couple of minutes of it.
You can show me a couple of minutes of it.
And then get your reaction because people love this.
And as I told you yesterday on your podcast, which I think it might be out at the time of recording,
I'm not sure, but go over to Apple Music and Spotify and check out Neil's great podcast,
Die For The Three Points. Great podcast. I'm on it. My episode may have dropped by now,
but if not, it'll be on my socials. Check that out. We spoke about it a little bit on there,
but here's a little clip. It's called Guardiola versus Warnock, different philosophy, same
inspiration. So maybe I can show you a bit of this and then just get your thoughts, Neil.
Yep.
Do you too?
Oh, ----.
I'm not ******* bothered, man.
Sit down! Nobody talk! Sit down!
Bloody hell, I want you ready, lads, in about a minute, lads, eh?
If you became a top, top, top, top, top team, you have to score the ******* goals, guys.
If we don't ******* score, we don't score. But we will ******* score.
Please protect the players. It's only a yes to all the referees around the world,
especially here in England. Protect the players.
Let's ******* get leathered in.
And do not shirk a ******* tackle. ------- tackle!
Locker room is the nicest place. Nicest.
I don't like injured lads around the dressing room. I don't like anybody moving around the
dressing room. Danny, go and get a bath, son. Go and have it away so I don't sit.
That'll make me feel sick if I look at you.
Good afternoon. Today the team is Strat, Ederson, Kyle, John, Nico.
Lids, you're on bench.
Of course, I'm going to defend you until the last day in our lives in the press conference.
I'll stick up for you every ******* week in press. I'll stick up and stick up.
You have to use sight to always feel it within you.
Every time it's in their half and you're on halfway line having a fag.
So Crystal Palace, guys, is in London in four days.
I want to beat Plymouth so ******* much, lads.
31st, everybody thinking in the afternoon we'll have a party or something like that.
We don't want no ******* party in tonight or tomorrow morning or what have you.
We'd love to rest.
You want your ******* rest, your ******* food and everything, Dennis, don't we?
Finally we did it again. Thank you again, guys.
When do we need a ******* keeper?
If we play like we are playing.
I'm not bothered what happens with subs and all that.
Is that busy looking ******* good?
Nice, enjoy it. Now, believe me, guys, come on.
By all means, enjoy it, but enjoy it by being ******* disciplined here.
You have done a ---- job.
Come on, let's go again.
Two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
Records broken.
But you have to learn to play football with courage.
That's a load of bollocks.
You've got to ******* die to get three points.
There we go.
Just some of the clips there.
So, Neil, I guess the question is, are you comparable with Pep Guardiola?
I think what it is, I think it just shows two passionate managers, really.
I think everybody has their own.
I couldn't do Pep's job because the type of player that Pep has,
you know, they're all multimillionaires and everything.
His team, at the moment, over the last two years,
are the best team I've ever seen in my lifetime, Manchester City.
I have never seen anything like it.
I was at Cardiff City, and we played Man City,
and we're nil-nil, I think, 25 minutes.
We're playing really well, and I'm stood there on a lovely day,
a typical football day, a little drizzle on that,
and I'm thinking, wow, we're doing well here.
And we go in at halftime, three-nil down,
and the third goal just before halftime, Silva scores it,
and don't forget, I'm the manager of the home team,
and he scores it from outside the box,
and I'm going, what a fantastic goal that is in my mind,
and I'm the manager, and they're three-nil,
and you couldn't fault any of my lads.
They were just amazing, and they moved on.
They moved football on so much,
and I really hope they win the Champions League
because it's one thing that has been missing.
Is it hard to get your players,
I know they're all professional in that,
but still, when you see you're coming up
against a great Man City team,
as you say, the best team you've ever seen,
is it hard to get your players up for that?
No, it's not hard, but I think they're up for games like that,
but you've got to be so organised.
Everyone has got, because if there's one weakness in your team,
and really, with the teams that I've got,
there's more than one weakness in at times.
That's no disrespect to them,
but if there's a weakness in a team,
Manchester City find it.
They find it, they're so good at moving the ball around,
and things like, I mean, like I say,
I've never seen football like it.
But having said that, I think Pep respects me as well,
are you with me?
You know, when we played him over there,
and I went in his office after,
he was a bit annoyed, I think, at the time,
because his daughters wanted pictures with me, not him.
I love it.
What's he like as a man?
Smashing, yeah, he's a lovely man.
They all are, Jürgen is.
I've had one or two run-ins with managers,
and you'll have to come to one of me shows.
I don't want to give you too much away,
but it's nice to get one or two things off my chest.
Well, maybe this is one you can't answer then,
because Steve, you had a question about the...
Yeah, I was intrigued to know
whether there were any managers
that you properly locked horns with,
because obviously in our,
like my biggest one was probably Fergie and Wenger.
They had a bit of a thing going on.
I've got stories about them, yeah.
What he means is he's not going to give too much away.
Buy a ******* ticket.
And Benitez.
I've got a few stories.
I get on with a lot.
People think I don't get on with anybody,
the story, because it's better for people to think that.
I'm the Marmite man and all that lot,
and I just go along with it, me, if I'm honest.
What I try and do wherever I've been is try to...
I try to give the ordinary fans an enjoyable afternoon.
I want them to enjoy the football.
I want them to see crosses, shots, saves,
oohs and ahhs, and referees.
I mean, I can't stop myself with referees, can I?
It's one of those things.
My dad was a class one ref.
He used to say,
the best referees are ones you don't see.
I mean, now, you go in the referees room before the game,
they look like male models, some of them.
And I'm thinking, oh my God, we've got him today.
There are good referees.
Anthony Taylor, lately,
I think he's been absolutely fantastic, mate.
But then, you know, you see your Mike Dean.
Yeah, I'm glad you said that.
I was getting around the name.
I mean, they said to me,
when he was retiring, they said,
Neil, there's news today that Mike Dean's retired.
I said, 10 years too late.
You didn't get on with him.
I didn't want to use the whole phrase.
You're fine here, you're fine.
Was it one that, like,
if you saw you had Mike Dean reffing the game that day,
it'd be like, you'd be ******* gutted.
Oh yeah, and I knew we'd get nothing.
I mean, once at Burnley,
he'd give us a penalty,
and then talk to the linesman,
and within five minutes, change his mind and give it, you know.
And then, they scored a goal.
The kid up front was in front of the goalie,
on the goal line,
interfering with the goalie.
The head at Barnes, it was, that's right.
He headed a ball from six yards out,
he's in front there,
and he didn't disallow it at all, you know.
And I, you just know,
I just knew when I got Mike Dean,
that I'd get nothing, really.
And it's the same with Craig Pawson.
I've had Barneys William, with Chelsea,
over the years, I've been fine,
I don't know how much, twice.
You know, I once, the first game at Palace,
Scott Dann did a foul and got booked,
and about 10 minutes later,
John Terry did a worse foul,
and got up, put his arm around Craig Pawson,
and talking, you know, John Terry,
blah, blah, blah,
and never even booked him.
And I said something after, I said,
well, you saw John Terry's booking.
Now, that was a lot worse a tackle than Scott Dann's,
and yeah, he didn't get booked.
If that was one of my lads, he'd get booked.
Right.
I think it was 15 grand I got done.
Really?
Saying that.
Yeah, because I'm insinuating
that Craig Pawson was, what's the word?
Corrupt?
No, not corrupt.
No, that's on your website, though.
Biased.
No, not, yeah, so there's another word for it,
a not natural, um...
Influenced.
Yeah.
Favoring?
No, you know, forget it.
You lads have no chance.
