Good morning and welcome to today's
video. This little kitty is trying to
get a feel for the barn life. He's
smelling my boots, eating my boots. He
also has been trying to go outside, you
guys. It's early. We don't want them to
go outside yet. A couple more months
maybe and then they can go outside. We
want to get them fixed first. But I'm
excited for a kitty that wants to go
outside. It's night. Actually, it's not
night. It's morning and it is 7° which
is what? 50 54 56. Do you know your
math?
It's icy. Everything froze overnight,
but it rained
off and on all day yesterday and was
just yuck. It's going to take us an hour
to get down to the barn because it
rained, everything melted and now it's
everything is so slippery. I'm just
going to follow Sophie's path and walk
on the snow. Anyway, welcome to today's
video. It is early. I thought I'd bring
you guys along first thing in the
morning. Look at that skyline. You got
to believe me when I say it's way more
beautiful in real life. Apparently,
we're supposed to get a ton of snow. the
treacher most treacherous part of our
day trying to make it down to the barn.
It's funny how two months ago if it was
this cold we'd be freezing. We'd be
wearing winter coats. We'd be wearing
mitts. And now we're so used to the
freezing cold that it's seems hot to us.
Look at these babies sleeping.
I am putting that heat lamp on, but
little Paw, she's laying underneath it.
She's like, "Please be warm. What's the
matter, baby? These guys do not like to
go outside. It's not kind out there to
them. They have to struggle to eat. So,
if they stay inside, they can just do
whatever they want. Eat whenever they
want. Nobody pushes them off. Nobody's
unkind to them. But you're going out
today. Are you excited? Is everybody
excited? Look it. Look at her face.
Let's just see your face. Do you want to
see? It's It's finished.
It's finished. Sh.
I got to hurry because I have to open
this door.
I'm going let her out quick.
So, I have like two breeding dates for a
lot of these goats because they didn't
seem like they got bred the first time.
But, I don't know. They It's It was
confusing. So I look and Till's due in
six weeks
or wait. So Tilly's either doing two
months, which would make her three
months pregnant, or she's doing 3
months. So if she's doing 3 months,
she's just fast. She's doing two months.
She's having a lot of babies. Now that
Lola has a baby to keep, which I'm going
to let her keep her baby. She's mean.
She's mean about the hay. She doesn't
let the other ones eat. They don't seem
like they're losing a ton of weight, but
they are losing weight, you guys. Look,
look at all this fluff. That's all
fluff. Oh my gosh. She's a normal goat
under all that fluff. Wow. She's got a
lot of fluff.
I bet you this goat isn't even She's not
even chubby anymore.
Hopefully their hair doesn't come out in
the summer and then they're all super
skinny.
That's why you have to be like so
careful. Like this one's related to
Cricket. She's still a little bit like
she's still good, but she's all fur. And
this one hardly has any fur compared to
that one. Anyway, they're all losing
weight, but they're all staying good.
They're like, "Couldn't you choose
summer for us to lose weight?" Because
winter is cold. All that fat will do
them good in the in the winter. I can't
believe we were feeding them that much
grain in the summer when they had all
that grass and they had all that
hay and we were feeding them so much
green.
>> We couldn't do Christmas in the barn
upstairs.
>> Yeah. Wouldn't that be fun? Cuz we're
having our big Christmas with We're
having a We do like three Christmases.
Four Christmases. How many do we We put
on We put on three Christmases for
ourselves.
>> Yeah. Three for ourselves and we go
everywhere else.
>> Yeah. It's a lot. Yeah. I remember one
year we did five Thanksgivings.
>> Yeah. And then we
>> That was a lot. We didn't do all five,
but we went to five.
>> Yeah. But we do
>> have to eat turkey five days in a row.
>> Well, your mom doesn't ever serve
turkey.
>> No. So, we won't be eating turkey.
Hopefully lasagna or something.
>> It's true. We're actually doing two
things two Christmases this weekend. So,
it's the weekend before Christmas, a few
days before Christmas. And we're doing
two There you go, little chicky. We're
doing two big Christmases. One with a
bunch of my grandkids and one son and
his whole family and he has uh three
almost four kids. So, the only one of my
kids that are proven to be like me. I
have five kids. People aren't having as
many kids anymore, but he is. He He's on
number four. And I think he's going to
stop after this. But I've dreamed that
they have a baby boy after this. And I
keep saying you're going to have a baby
boy and they're like, "Nope, we're not."
And I'm like, "Okay."
And I just let them believe it because
that's the way life is. And that's what
I found happens with us. That's what I
found happens. Like God God shows me in
a dream something that's going to
happen. When I meditate, he shows me
something that's going to happen. And
I'm like, "No, I'm not doing that.
That's not what's going to happen. I
don't want that at all." But no matter
what, it always happens. It happens lots
of times. I I see things and then I'm
like, "Nope, I refuse. I refuse." That's
all I say. I just I refuse. Like I saw
that I was going to fall off my horse
one day years ago. 7 years yesterday. 7
years on two days ago actually. So on
Wednesday, 7 years ago on Wednesday, it
just came up in my memories. I dreamed
that I was going to fall off my horse.
And all I saw was me like I saw me fall
off my horse and I saw it was just quiet
like there was no noise anywhere and I
just saw me land on the ground and just
be laying there and I didn't see in like
I didn't dream that there was any pain
or I didn't dream like anything else.
I just dreamed
that I was going to fall. And like a
week went by. I went riding with a
friend. I was like, "Oh my gosh, I'm
going to fall." But it didn't my dream
didn't scare me. It didn't seem like
anything bad happened. I'd seen my kids
fall and nothing bad happened. And then
another week went by and I was having a
lesson and
I fell off my horse and it was like in
my brain as I was falling. I couldn't
hear anything. There was no noise. It
was like the most silent thing ever
until I hit the ground and everything
broke and then I just started screaming
like I I had seven breaks in my whole
pelvis. my tailbone and my tailbone
broke the opposite way that is normal.
It I think when you break your tailbone
and you break it up and down I think.
And then mine broke the opposite way.
Whatever. So I had seven breaks all
around my entire pelvis. Shattered my
pelvis. Spent 5 days in the hospital.
They wanted me to stay 2 weeks, but I
signed myself out and got out in time
for Christmas. You guys, there's all
these videos on our channel. Me in the
hospital. Did you know that, Sam?
It was 7 years ago I broke my pelvis.
>> Wait, cuz we moved to the farm in 2019.
That's the only move when you broke your
pelvis.
>> Mhm.
No, it's seven years ago. It says in
Facebook 7 years ago.
>> Six.
>> But we didn't move to this farm yet. It
was the year before.
>> Remember you broke your pelvis?
>> In December, I broke my pelvis.
>> So December 8, 2018. Not really quite.
>> It's exactly seven years. That's what
Facebook says. It's exactly seven years.
But
>> six years, one month.
>> No. What?
>> Right. My math is off.
>> Yeah. This is the the theme of the day.
Sam's math is off.
>> You did wrong.
>> Yes. 7 years on Wednesday. I broke
shattered my pelvis. Stayed in the
hospital for 5 days. I think 5 days. And
they wanted me to stay 2 weeks. I had to
sign myself out. I had to take an
ambulance home because I couldn't even
walk yet. But I came home and I came
home with physio and I had physio once.
Once and then I had it again and then
she kicked me out of the thing and said
like you're doing more than we even say
to do. Like you're going to be fine. We
you don't need physio. So I didn't even
need physio after the first two times.
But when I was in the hospital, let me
tell you, I had physio come. I'll never
forget those people. They're the ones
that I had like a mattress that was air
and to fix myself in the bed, I had to
put the bed all the way in recline and
then I had to use the handrails and
slide myself up to the top of the bed
and I couldn't do anything else. But
that physio, they came in, they gave me
like a big rope thing and they showed me
how to put it under my feet so I could
pull my feet up. Like they were awesome
when I really, really did need it. So,
any of you guys who are going through a
hard time physically, even mentally at
Christmas this year, I feel you. It's
going to get better. You're going to be
amazing. Things are going to change. I
don't not know why this goat this this I
don't know why this chicken makes such a
big mess.
>> Come along. I should bring her. And you
should manage the door because I'm
better. No pose. Watch. She'll just back
up. She's She's thinking about running
the other way.
>> She is thinking about running the other
way. She's like, "Hm."
>> Come on. Come on.
Come on.
>> Come on. Out you go. Get out there, baby
goats. Get out, pose. Come on. We're
holding the door for you.
Oh my gosh. Are you in heat? I'm telling
you now. None of our goats are pregnant
this year. I mean, I dreamed that they
are mostly all pregnant this year, but
what the heck? Why are you in heat? Why
are you looking like you're in heat?
How are you so fat still?
There are hormones in pregnancy that
make them act like they're in heat. So,
I don't know. We're going out, ladies.
Ready?
She's always the first one to go out.
She's like, "All right, let's go." And
she's always the second one to go out.
She's always the third one to go out.
Oh, Lola,
come on. Get your butt out. If you make
me leave this door open, they're all
just going to run back in. Come on. Get
Get Everybody's looking a lot thinner
today.
Get out there with your mama. Ouch. Go.
This one does not like to be pushed. She
looks good, though. I also wondering if
she's in heat. Let her out.
Did you guys know it is so important to
be outside and see the sun coming up
every day? It's like important for your
health. It's important for your
circadian rhythm. It's It's so important
for your health. I'm just standing here.
You guys can't even see how gorgeous.
Just standing here like I feel it. My
eyes are just like opening wider and
wider. I gives me energy. Isn't that
like the most gorgeous thing ever?
Fortunately,
there's a big path there so that the
goats when the sun comes out, they can
stand there. They stand there against
that wall. Sam, I want you to build me
something. I keep forgetting. Oh, look
at that. It's so beautiful. Even though
it's probably annoying that it's on the
wood like that. It's so beautiful. And
this wood that Sam put here is working
out so well.
Mean goat.
Anyway, everybody's losing weight. I can
see it for sure. Look at her little legs
pumping along. She's probably like,
"Yes, I can run."
And little Paw is trying to brave the
snow so she can be with me. Hi, babe.
Come here. I'll sit with you. Come on.
Get up here. That's a girl. Hi.
It's okay.
Oh, you be nice.
Hey, you be nice to that baby. Fight
back. Fight back, Cinderella. I love
that we have changing seasons to be
honest, but I'm really looking forward
to January. Like we've been spending
I've been spending so much time and
getting ready for Christmas and getting
all the things I need and Sam's been
really helping and he went grocery
shopping yesterday to try and get
everything we need. We still need more
stuff
because like I said, we're doing three
Christmases this year. So, we're doing
it with one son that lives local and all
his kids. And then after Christmas, and
then they're going on vacation. And then
after Christmas, another son is coming.
Oops. Another son's family is coming.
And
oh, that was a goat that doesn't usually
come up to me. And then I'm having
Christmas with them. So, that's two. And
then we're having Christmas with Sam's
family. That's three. That's not one
we're doing. But then I always, even
though we have two Christmases,
Sam and I always do something on
Christmas Eve with our kids. Like we'll
order food and then on Christmas day, we
always do something. And the only reason
we do something on Christmas day with
just our own kids at home is because
it's important to Gabby. Like Gabby
always wants something special on
Christmas Day. So I don't know how
that's going to work. I don't want to
have make three turkeys.
But that like but and like I said, Sam's
mom never makes turkey. So, that makes
me wonder, what do you guys eat at
Christmas time? What do you guys make?
Do you eat turkey, traditional turkey?
We have turkey and ham. Or do you have
something different? I think we're going
to order Chinese food on Christmas Eve.
Or we're going to order sushi cuz that's
my favorite, but the girls hate it. This
year's breeding season is going to be a
mystery for you and for me. I have no
idea who's giving birth when. It's going
to be a nightmare. where I'm going to be
waiting up all night
all the time because a lot of goats are
due in February or they're due in March
or they're due in April. I am looking
forward to January, though. I'm excited
to have our living room back and get rid
of the trees. I'm excited for new
excitement. I'm excited for baby cows,
you guys. I've been watching this baby
cow that was just born that my friend
might sell to us. If she sells them,
then we're going to buy them. Oh my
gosh. He's like,
he's the cutest animal I've ever seen in
my life. He's so cute. He's the perfect
color.
He's like, oh my gosh, he's the most
beautiful cow on earth. And she makes
him friendly. He'll So, he will be a pet
cow. Like a friendly little pet cow.
Well, look at that sky now. Holy moly.
It's actually gorgeous out here.
Literally
gorgeous. I can hear everything melting.
It's literally my favorite until tonight
when everything freezes again. Clearly
Sam is taking over this middle grooming
stall. Sam was telling me today, so this
is Storm's hay for the night. Sam was
telling me that the girls Penny comes in
every day, puts her head over here, and
eats the hay out of the top of his net.
Wish me luck, you guys.
10.
Come on, Kenny.
Come on.
She said no. I had a candy. I got a
treat for her. Work like a charm. So, I
saw I hate when Penny gets
crusty. When her hair gets crusty, I
feel like it prohibits her from keeping
herself warm.
She's like, "Wait, Laura, I need to get
a bite of something. If I'm going to
come, I'm going to get a treat. Go
ahead. Get a bite.
At least she asked me first. One bite.
Okay, let's go.
She's a funny girl.
Come on. Yes,
you're funny.
This is the hardest part about winter is
trying to groom your horse when it's
freezing and your hands are freezing. I
don't care if I have to ruin a pair of
mitts to stay warm.
>> A sunny day, but it's cold outside. It
tingles in my heart.
Breathing air that clears my mind. I'm
all for a good start.
I hear those jingle bells, people
singing about love.
It feels like I'm a kid, like I'm
forever young.
And that's why I want to sing about the
Christmas on it way.
A reason to hang around and celebrate
this day. Everyone smiling and it's
snowing. It's the time of year again.
I'm happy you're here. My winter
wonderland.
>> Not too much mud. Even though it's muddy
outside and rainy and gross. But you
guys, she is such a great weight this
year.
I know we still have most of winter
still to go. Hold on. I got to give you
another candy. Hold on. Got to open it.
Okay. Look.
Kiss. Look. Kiss. Kush. Kush. Thank you.
When she when she touches me with her
nose to kiss me, she does a like she
actually pushes her face into me so she
knows that I want to kiss baby. She's a
lot bigger than the goats.
and her feet were really good.
And you guys, she's like, I'll kiss you
some more. Another interesting thing is
that last winter, and we're still early
in the season, but last winter, Penny
was had the worst arthritis flare last
winter. Like, she was it was awful.
Like, we had to reassess her medicine,
her medication. We had to do so many
different things to make her comfortable
last winter. And she came out of it
perfectly in the spring.
cute. And then this winter she's been
it's been really cold and she's been
perfect. Like absolutely perfect. Wait,
I got to find another treat. She knows.
She knows I'm coming with another treat.
There you go.
She's like, "Thanks, Laura. See, next
time I ask you to come in, come in." She
was mad cuz I didn't have a treat with
me the first time.
>> We're done. Even though I could just
wish you were small enough you could
come in the house with me.
That's it. That's all I have.
That's it. That's all I have.
Come on,
you guys. Our our horses are so settled.
They're just settled. They're like
remember when we first got horses and
they were wild? Not now. Now they're
just settled. Except for Lady who is mad
that Penny went in without her. So I got
to put her up quick before Lady runs
around cuz that's what she'll do.
Goodbye love. I miss you.
I miss you. You guys think I showed you
the last time I cut her hair.
It's so pretty
and it looks thicker.
She's telling the lady to go away. Get
away from my girl's hand that carries
the food. That's what she's saying. I
always hate to walk away. I hate walking
away. I just hate it. I feel bad all the
time. Hi, babe. And you know who else I
feel bad for when I walk away? The other
horse that wants attention? You see her?
Also, before I forget, remember when I
told you guys that Storm's going to be
in a movie? I think it's this summer.
So, how it works is that somebody will
ask you like, "Hey, we're making a
movie, blah, blah, blah. Can we use this
clip of yours and we'll pay you?" And
then you sign all these papers and then
they go through all these things to see
if the clip it makes it to the movie.
And we've signed it before and we didn't
make it to the movie. And we are about
to make it to the movie. So, Storm and
Our Barn is going to be in a movie, I
think, this summer. When it gets closer,
I'll remind you of the name of the movie
and when it comes out, so you guys can
watch and see Storm be a movie star.
Don't you know that you're beautiful?
Just the way you are, just the way you
came. Don't you know that you're
beautiful?
