In May 2025 the Table Tennis World Championships took place in Doha
That was a world championship that was going to be very very special for Shunsuke Togami and Hiroto Shinozuka
Because the two played together in the doubles and indeed won the gold medal in the end
That was a great story but now they were opponents on the opening match of the last game day before the Christmas break
The match at home between Ochsenhausen and Grünwettersbach was the showdown
Let's take a look at the fourth singles match of the day
The two Japanese players both starting in position 1 for their teams now faced each other
Togami a right-hander Shinozuka a left-hander and the first round is fairly balanced
Fast-paced table-side game Of course the two
know each other well Who
will take the first set
We're making a small jump to 11 to 10 for Togami
Yes and he takes the first passage with 12 to 10
Togami has an outstanding record in the first half of the season in the TTBL
Just one singles loss
He got it against Darko Jorgic
Otherwise he has won them all individually
That is really very impressive
And just after the departure of Hugo Calderano and Simon Gouzi he is obviously really valuable for Ochsenhausen
Still trying to switch hands but from behind in the
half-distance That doesn't quite work for Shinozuka
He has also had a good start to his season at Grünwettersbach
He also has a positive record but he is lagging behind here
Then Togami raises to 2 to 0 and again looks like he has better players
Very safe play with very powerful play
It just all fit together on that day as it seemed up to this point
Togami then had a 4-1 lead when the timeout came in at Shinozuka
But it hasn't really helped much because we're making the small leap
Togami was ahead 8-5 and then he already had match points at 10-8
Also Ochsenhausen beats Grünwettersbach at home 3 to 1
Two singles wins by Togami
