Between Once Upon a Time and Happily Ever After,
rivals meet and legends are forged.
Welcome to the Great Hall of Rivals,
where we're celebrating the legend of the street urchin with a heart of gold
and the evil sorcerer looking to use him in his quest to find a genie
who would grant him three wishes.
What's that?
Oh yes, Jafar is going to wish he never met Aladdin.
Very good.
You see, Aladdin grew up an orphan on the streets of Agrabah,
where he needed to steal to survive,
but he'd still help others when they needed it.
His friend, Abu, needed a little encouragement.
Still, Aladdin felt trapped in his current situation.
That is, until he crossed paths with Princess Jasmine.
Feeling an immediate connection,
Aladdin and Jasmine saw a chance at love and jumped at it.
Quite literally, yes.
But then things took a turn when Aladdin was thrown in jail.
And it was there that a mysterious stranger
offered Aladdin treasures beyond his wildest dreams.
What Aladdin didn't know was that this stranger was his rival, Jafar,
a powerful sorcerer and the Sultan's closest advisor.
Jafar and his trusted sidekick, Iago, were full of schemes to gain more power.
And crackers, yes.
Iago was also full of crackers when the Sultan was around.
So why was the powerful Jafar helping Aladdin escape from jail?
He needed someone worthy to retrieve the magic lamp
he was seeking from the Enchanted Cave of Wonders.
With no other options, Aladdin retrieved the lamp.
But as soon as he did, Jafar double-crossed him.
Though Abu wasn't going to let them go down without a bite.
I was going to say fight, but I can't argue with that.
Still, Jafar cast them back into the cave.
And though they were safely brought down to the ground
by their new friend, the magic carpet, our heroes were now trapped.
Luckily, Abu had one last trick up his sleeve.
Yes, I'm aware his vest didn't have sleeves, but it's just an expression.
Abu had stolen the lamp back from Jafar,
giving our hero Aladdin the chance to meet the seriously powerful genie.
Okay, perhaps he was more silly than serious, but he was definitely powerful.
Aladdin, hoping to marry Princess Jasmine,
used one of his three wishes to become a prince.
So Aladdin marched toward the palace in a splashy parade led by the genie,
which certainly got the Sultan's attention.
For Jafar, though, this was a crushing blow.
I meant to his plan to take over the palace.
However, Aladdin's plan had also hit a speed bump.
Jasmine, unaware that this was the man she fell for in the marketplace,
wasn't so sure about this new prince.
So Aladdin and his magic carpet friend took her on an incredible ride.
They were falling for each other all over again.
But Jafar quickly saw through Aladdin's charade.
He stole the genie's lamp and used his first two wishes to become Sultan,
then an all-powerful sorcerer.
But when our hero realized that Jafar's wishes
were fueled by an unrelenting need for power,
he tricked his rival into wishing to become a genie,
knowing this would imprison Jafar in a lamp of his own for all of eternity.
With one wish remaining, Aladdin used it to set genie free,
showing that a life full of love can make a man richer than all the palace's gold.
And with this rivalry behind him, Aladdin was finally able to be with Jasmine,
and they could introduce each other to a whole new world.
