Decorating plates

Hey everyone, I'm going to decorate some plates with a slip. A slip is a liquid clay. In this case
it's a liquid clay made of North Carolina red clay that I found on a road cutting not far from
Pittsburgh. And I made it into a liquid, carefully screened it, sieved it, and it's got a lovely
viscosity. I pour it on the plate. I kind of let it dry a little bit before I put any marks on it
otherwise the slip is so liquid the lines that I put on will bleed into the lines.
I know that if I do three of these by the time I've done the third I can decorate the first one
and wipe off the back of the plate a little bit so it makes them slip and I don't absorb
too much of the water on the slip. And here's the story about this nice shiny
surface.
I've got a couple of tools here. This is a comb that's been unmatched. I need a tool.
Wiggly lines and this whole slip tray is very rocketed with English slip tray name.
And it's nice to interpret it and do it my way.
Spray just lining up the surface into a pattern.
I'm doing variations on each plate so they're similar but not quite the same.
This one's interesting.
I'll probably fill in the middle with some dots or perhaps a circle.
That's that's the way we do it. Thank you for watching.
