Last Christmas I gave it to her and the very next day I gave it away
Hi, I'm Brad. Hi, I'm John. You know how hard it is to find Christmas-themed beatbox songs?
Probably pretty hard. Fairly hard. Don't know why. It's like there's enough beatboxes floating
around out there, not just the few that we tend to cover, but there's actually quite a lot of them.
So, come on beatboxers, do more Christmas stuff. So, I had to go back a year or two now and I
found that our friend Tara Stannin has indeed done a Christmas beatbox cover.
Now why he looks different is because it's a couple of years old.
Yeah, it's a couple of years ago.
You'll see in a minute.
Yeah, you'll see in a minute. The song in question is, I could also explain the
look, Last Christmas by Wham!
Yeah, that could be why too.
Yeah, so yeah. Last Christmas, written by the English duo Wham! released on the 3rd of December
1984. Hard to believe it's quite that old, but it is. So, anyway.
I think it was about 20 minutes.
Yeah, could be. So, the track was a written performance produced by a Wham! member,
George Michael, which could explain the look. He actually wrote the song, apparently in February
of 1984, about a Christmas time breakup, and then they recorded it in August and released it in
December. So, this is a shorter cover. It's one of his short ones that he kind of did.
It's not quite as short.
Well, this is definitely going to be interesting.
Different.
Yeah, I'd say so. All right, check it out.
Yes.
All right, before we do, make sure you hit that like and subscribe.
Check out the description down below. You're going to
find all our links, information, and stuff that we have down there.
He didn't have the 80s jacket. He needed the white jacket that you'd wear a t-shirt.
Yeah, but that would be Miami Vice.
It's just as much George Michael in the 80s.
In fact, he liked to wear those skimpy shorts.
Well, that too, but I think it actually ended the video for this song. He's wearing the
Miami Vice white jacket, if I remember correctly.
I don't think so. Anyway, as we ramble on about enough about George Michael,
it is related to his friends.
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart, and the very next day, I gave it away.
I keep my distance, but you still can't catch my eye.
Tell me, man, do you freaking notice me?
Well, it's me here, and it doesn't surprise me.
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart, and the very next day, I gave it away.
Yes, yeah, I gave it to you, but you didn't give it to someone special.
It's actually amusing watching some of his older stuff, where you can tell he didn't
bother doing any post-processing whatsoever.
There's none of the, oh, I'm going to go in, and I'm just going to add a bit of reverb
or an echo on this to draw that sound out a little bit more.
It's like, no, but literally, no processing, no looping or anything.
Just simply, you know, this is what you'd get if I stood up in a bar right now and did it.
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart, and the very next day, I gave it away.
Yes, yeah, I gave it to you, but you didn't give it to someone special.
How do you think that's a mouthful? I didn't even do that.
Anyway, so yeah, that's Taurus having fun with a very short version of Wham's Last Christmas.
Yeah, that was, you know, it was definitely different, but it was good.
I mean, yeah, just the ability to be able to do that and turn a song and, you know,
just get a totally different vibe.
It was, like I said, it was basically just a short thing he did one Christmas a few years
back now.
You should do more of them, honestly.
There are enough Christmas songs that you could, you know, probably go through.
Especially since, honestly, I think he's actually, you know, his skill level has improved,
which is a bit odd, given the fact that, you know, the awards and stuff he actually won
are kind of like 2013, 2018, I think, are the two big ones, which is the Russian
solo beatbox champions.
The ones he actually won, that is.
It's kind of like, yeah, I'm surprised he actually hasn't done more competition.
No, he has.
It's just a case of everybody else has gotten better, too.
That happens.
Sorry, just as I mentioned.
No, because I look it up on beatbox.
It lists, you know, people like us, you know, oh, he entered there and he came fifth.
Hey, you entered, you did it.
More than likely for us.
But yeah, there's enough Christmas songs.
Some of these beatbox champions hit some Christmas stuff up.
At least do one or two.
Yeah, at least one a year.
Anyway, that was fun.
It was fun.
Yeah, it was fun.
Obviously, in the Christmas spirit that we've been kind of been doing the last couple days.
For reasons.
Yeah, so if you want to see any more of those, and we're obviously going to react to him some more,
make sure you get that like and subscribe.
And our latest plug is, you know, go check out our other channels.
We're trying to get them up and going.
One is Nostalgia.
If you like anything, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.
That one we're having.
Replaying the past.
Yeah, replaying the past.
Playing past where most of it's going to be nostalgic videos to, you know, quizzes and stuff.
We either have, depending on which video went out first, we either have a Christmas quiz
up right now, or we have the 2024 in memoriam of the stars we lost last year.
And then we're going to be having the 2025 stars that day in December.
Probably New Year's Eve will probably go up sometime that day.
So make sure you go check those channels out and subscribe.
The other one being?
Oh, then the other one is just the shorts, the music shorts.
Gen X, Gen X React.
Gen X Music Rewind.
It's shorts every day.
We kind of got it.
Kind of got to keep shorts and stuff separate off different channels.
Anyway, we're just trying to get them to get going, to make a living.
