Ready for Christmas.. in July? For today’s video I am showing you how to make easy, budget-friendly Christmas tree DIYs. I made mine for above my cabinets in my kitchen. I’d love some more ideas because I want to absolutely fill the tops of them before Christmas 2025!

Hi friends, it's Jacqueline with Craftin' with Jacqueline
and in today's video we are going to be doing a bunch of
DIY cone trees for a beautiful display of Christmas, for Christmas in
July. I displayed these up on like the tops of my cabinets
and honestly I think it would be awesome to add a couple more
but I do need a couple more ideas so if you've got them
go ahead and leave them in the comments for me so that I can really make
this top of my cabinets absolutely gorgeous
for 2025's Christmas display. Okay starting off with this first tree
I took some fabric that I have this is just some white cotton fabric that has a
little bit of texture to it. It is kind of see-through so I don't
usually use it for anything for sewing wise so I thought it would
be perfect for this project and I am just taking those and cutting
them into two inch strips and then cutting those
strips into two inch like little squares.
Once I think I have enough cut out, spoiler alert,
I do actually need to cut out more later but once I think I've got a decent
amount I am going to start by using a knitting
needle or anything that can poke this styrofoam
cone and I just got these styrofoam cones
from Hobby Lobby. They come in a pack of two.
I believe also Walmart has a couple or you could also get them on Amazon. I
have found them there. I'll go ahead and link some for you in the description box
below but once I get these little squares I
basically just poke the center with the knitting needle and push it
through to the foam. Now I did this last year I believe or two
years ago for my Christmas in July video as well
just using this same technique but for a ornament. I'll go ahead and also
link that one for you guys or add it to the end of the video so that
you guys can look at that one too but and then I just wanted to add a
little bit more to this foam just because this foam cuts off at the
very top so it would look a little odd not to have it all the way
up to a point so I did just add one of these little pieces.
These cones are actually from the Dollar Tree
so I just cut off the top of that cone and added that to the top
and just with some hot glue and then continued with the little
square fabric pieces. For this next one I am also using a styrofoam
piece and this one is just a little bit larger
and then I'm also using some of these little cones that I got from Hobby Lobby
as well and I'm just going to be inserting
these little pieces these little pine cones into
the foam with securing them just with a little bit of hot glue.
And hot glue does melt foam so if you do have a low temp
hot glue gun that would be preferred so that this does not melt the foam
totally or what I did was just kind of like
wait a little bit if the if I could tell that the
hot glue was going to be too hot I just kind of waited a second.
Now for this piece I could tell when I was doing that very top layer
that you could see the very stark white foam
so I ended up painting and I do think that I should have taken off all the
pine cones at the top and then painted this this light brown
but I didn't do that I left them just where they were and then
painted around and honestly it didn't turn out too bad
so you could actually do this but preferably it would be to paint it first
and then continue with the pine cones going all the way around. I'm not sure if
you can really tell from this video but I did try and use these very
smaller or itty bitty pine cones at the very top
and then gradually got bigger. The pack kind of has
very similar but varying sizes and then at the base I did more of a
thicker just pine cone that I already had on
hand that wasn't a part of this pack just so that like the tiny on top and
then kind of gradually get larger. This one honestly turned out better than
I expected it is super sturdy and I
love the way it turned out but let me know what you guys think.
Okay for this next one we are going to be using
this clear acrylic vase filler or gems I'm not sure exactly what they're called
but I am just going to be hot gluing each of these little pieces
together around this this right here is a like candle top
they're usually the candles that you can get from Michaels
but you can really just use anything round I just needed it
to be able to shape these to make sure that I am getting a circle
around the base. Now these are a little bit um skewampus I guess
they definitely have some grooves in them so it is kind of difficult
to make sure that you're using like the correct
side to match up these but you kind of get the hang of it once you
do a couple just because they do match up pretty well but at
first it is kind of odd just because they are
different shapes but then once I have this full section
down for the base which can be like the very bottom
of this acrylic tree then I can start up with
the second layer just adding a little bit of hot glue
and maneuvering the next piece and the next row
just right on top of each other and now I am kind of like
maneuvering these so that they do go inwards a tiny bit
but really I don't know if that I really needed to because it kind of made it
like super inwards and I do wish that I would have just
continued going up because I think it would have gradually
just gone up directly and gone straight to like a cone shape if I would have
just gone upwards just because of the shape of
them. If you guys do try this project I would
love to know if you guys did have to angle them
inwards to make the cone shape or if you guys could
just angle them directly on top of each other
just based on the shape of these that they did curb.
I'd love to know if you guys do try this just let me know in the comments.
And now here is kind of where I messed it up
where I still had some of those acrylic pieces so I decided to continue adding
layers down at the bottom and it did kind of make it so that the
bottom is very jagged. I can still obviously
keep it flat on the ground but it just looks a little odd because this
first when I did it it's very like level and it looks pretty
so I don't fully recommend doing that. I instead
recommend just doing a larger base to start out with
just because this kind of became like misshapen once I did that.
Okay for this next one I am just showing you that you can
absolutely use these little cone shapes. I believe I was just doing a
two and a three because that's the price that I ended up paying for them
but you can use these cone shapes that I got from Hobby Lobby but I
decided to instead of paying for each one I am just going to be using
some poster board and using just the one
and then using poster board and kind of maneuvering it into
this diagonal rolled shape and then just cutting it down and also
using some hot glue so that it can be secure
and then just once I've got it all glued down
I can then just cut down the bottom so that it stands up
perfectly straight and then I used this method
for I believe all of the rest of the video.
I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure I used this method
for basically everything else moving forward and I just did different shapes
use or not different shapes but different sizes
so I did a lot a lot of these large ones and then I definitely did
quite a few of the smaller ones but for this very large one
I am just going to use some of this beautiful
white fabric and then I'm just basically going to do the exact same thing I
just did with the poster board and I'm just going to be
using the same thing for the fabric where I
lay the piece down and then I am just going to
roll it to make the diagonal and then cut the fabric and hot glue
the fabric down to the cone piece that I just made.
This next tree is also a beautiful white tree
and I'm just going to be using some cotton balls
and another cone that I made just from the remaining poster board
and I'm going to start off with one little cotton ball on the top
using some hot glue and then just continuing with some hot glue
and the cotton balls and just going all the way around
the cone just to make this beautiful little cotton tree
and then cotton balls also come in like those pom poms that are like those
colors and I think these would be so cute
in a bunch of different colors especially if you're doing like a
Candyland theme and you do just those beautiful
poms with like the sparkles in them I think that would be
absolutely gorgeous. Moving on to the next one
I did another large poster board for this cone
and I am just going to be using this beautiful
yarn that I've got on hand and this one is
I believe it's the Bernet Light Snuggie that may not exist anymore
so or at least it's discontinued so I don't know if you there's one out
there that is similar if you guys do know let me know
I'd love to check it out because I do love this kind of yarn
but anyways I am just going to hot glue a little piece
to the top and then just roll this all the way down
I don't need a ton of hot glue for this project but I do use a little bit here
and there just to make sure that this is really
secured but then when I get to the very bottom
I just use a little bit more hot glue and then I cut off this little piece
of yarn and then secure it to you can just secure it to the top
but I like to little wrap it around the bottom
and secure it underneath
I'm not sure why but this one really really makes me feel
like Christmas time and Christmas season
probably because I feel like the most Christmassy
when it's like snowing and white and beautiful like that winter wonderland
vibes so this one is really giving me those
Christmas feels and I am absolutely loving it
okay so I did want to give you another option
just because I do know that yarn is discontinued
so I did do one with this extremely fluffy yarn
I'll go ahead and link these in the description for you
but this one is absolutely stunning and another
just option really you can do any yarn that you want
I do show you a little bit later on that you can do some reds and some colors
I also did some tans and then I used some little pearl beads
and I stuck those onto the top just of the yarn
and I think those turned out awesome but let me know what you guys would do
and what colors are your favorites for Christmas time
and what Christmas tree colors you would use
I did just want to show you that there is options to do
instead of yarn you could do this beautiful ropey ribbon
this one is also from Hobby Lobby but I do know that
there is some available at other stores like Walmart or Michaels
but I just did this beautiful rope color and I think this one is also really fun
and I didn't have very many reds and I would love to have some more reds this year
but I couldn't think of any and I also weren't able to find a lot of reds
so let me know if you guys can find or have any ideas of some red colors that I could add
or do maybe I could do some ornaments like an ornament tree
just with some of those red ornaments that you can get from Dollar Tree
but let me know if you guys have any more options
I'd love to continue to do more so that I can really absolutely fill those cabinets
now sticking with the same theme from the previous trees
I am just going to be using some of these pine cone picks
you can get these at Dollar Tree or Hobby Lobby
this one right here is from Hobby Lobby
it's a round wire that looks like the pine tree little rope
and I'm just going to be doing the same thing where I hot glue a little bit of the top
and then wrap the little wire around the cone that we made from the poster board
or you can also use just some paper
probably use some like cardstock paper versus just paper so that it can be very sturdy
and as I'm wrapping this around I do just fluff this out a little bit
just because I loved the look of it being a little bit more fluffy
versus like completely stuck to the paper
once it was like stuck down I don't know if you can tell
but that like layer right there just looks very like stuck to it
and I loved the look of it being like a little bit more frayed
so I just used the little piece and just fluffed them out a little bit
and then that's what this one looks like with the wire
and then the second one is those wire picks
they are a little bit different colors and have a little bit more brown to them
but both still a great option
okay for this next one like I said continuing with the same thing
of basically just wrapping things around poster board cones
but for this one I am going to be using this beautiful
ribbon that is this velvet color and it's green
oh just so beautiful
so this one is a little bit more difficult
and I did not want the ribbon to have like little gaps in it
so I am taking it from the very top
and then going to use just basically all the way down to the very bottom
kind of like a diagonal and then cutting and gluing down
and then I'm just going to then add the next piece to the very top
and I'm going to basically wrap it to the top
so that there's going to be a bad section and a good section
so like the bad section will be where the all the cuts are
and then the good section will just be the front side
where you can't tell that everything is cut in the back
but I then just glued that piece down and glued it from the top
and then glued it down down to the bottom
and then that technique would work for any ribbon
but as you can see that white velvet ribbon is a thinner ribbon
so it worked to just wrap from the very top to the very bottom
I do have a video on that but it was kind of seeming repetitive
so I did not show that one
but if you guys do want me to show that one I definitely can
and speaking of repetitiveness
here I go with the smaller and thinner yarn
I just wanted to give you just a quick glance of how this one could look
just showing you that when I do this one I do kind of do straight down
but I also overlapped them over and over again
just because I thought that look gave a little bit more of a textured look
and I thought it was kind of cool
and then here is also the tan ones that I did
as I mentioned earlier I added just these little purl beads to them as well
and I just stuck those on with some hot glue
I'm not sure where that video went
so I'm sorry you were stuck with the red yarn video instead
now for today's final tree
this is just going to be a cone that I got from Dollar Tree
and I took off the tinsel just because I didn't think it matched my aesthetic
and I'm just going to wrap some of this green ribbon that is also from Dollar Tree around
now this one is kind of unique because instead of wrapping it very evenly
I thought why not just go and do what the ribbon is already wanting to do
when it's this thick ribbon
which is kind of do like that little gap at the top
but I kind of like the way it looked
so I did it with this burlap green
and then I also did it with just a plain burlap color
and I kind of like it
but what do you guys think?
Does it kind of remind you of those slides that you see at carnivals?
Let me know what you guys think
if you think it gives a tree and a festival festive
or if it gives you more of like a carnival festival
but anyways this is the final one for today
I really hope you guys enjoyed watching today's video
