Good morning from Nuremberg, Germany. J
and I are spending a week in Germany.
This is the longest time period we've
ever spent in Europe. I think we landed
in Nuremberg this morning. And we're
actually traveling for the first third
of this trip with our friend Priya. And
we've come out straight for lunch. It's
kind of breakfast for us because we were
up on 3:00 a.m. But it is 11:00 a.m.
local time. So, we dropped our luggage
off at the hotel and we've come straight
out for lunch at a place called Casper
Schwazer,
a vegan and vegetarian
eatery in Nuremberg um old town. We're
basically doing like a little mini tour
of the Bavarian Christmas markets, which
is so exciting because I've literally
never been to Christmas markets abroad
before. From our short walk from the
hotel to here, I'm already impressed.
They're not even all open. It's just so
festive. It's not that cold, which is
great. But it's just so festive and
beautiful here. And I don't think I've
ever seen anything like this in London
already. It's so cute. It's incredible.
I'm going to show you our food when it
arrives and I'll show you what we get up
to. We're only here for two nights
before we move on somewhere else. Tie
bowl. That's him. Thank you. That's a
lot of You weren't kidding.
>> Thank you very much.
>> Oh, that's you.
>> I can share the cheesecake.
>> Oh, today you want to share. Thank you.
>> Thank you to
>> This is Priya and she has just said
something monumental that today we can
share the cheesecake.
>> Yeah.
>> Pria doesn't share dessert. Like in the
same way that Joey doesn't share food
lied before. It does look really good.
There we go. And we we've somehow both
ordered the same kebab bowl which looks
really good. Massive
quite
Ukraine Montenegro
shot land.
>> I'm not going to lie, I love having a
tour guide. Normally I am the tour
guide, but Priya is navigating us.
It's very busy.
I feel like I'm missing something.
>> Somebody me
>> Vicea.
What?
>> Say that again, please.
>> I'm probably saying it all wrong.
>> Pria is practicing.
>> Vicea.
>> Okay, this is where we are.
>> Tour guide Priya is trying not to
butcher the German. Um, you're doing a
better job than I would have been trying
to read it. I swear to God, every time I
get anywhere in the world where I'm at
like looking at a colorful pretty
street, there's always scaffolding up
that ruins it or road works or
something.
Love a timbered house.
So, this street isn't very long. Um, but
it is very pretty to walk down. I love
the timbered houses um that are sort of
in the middle. There's a lot of
scaffolding up which like I said before
ruins it. And these two are really
funny. Pria does this thing called a
Pria 360 and she's filming J standing on
the spot. She's just filmed me as well.
>> I'm giving them the behind the scenes of
the Pria 360.
I've never actually seen this on social
after like I'm at different angles like
you there and then I'll switch it up to
him like maybe there.
>> Okay. Well, I'll start with him and
change to my bits just going to be that.
>> I'm not. So this is a fountain called
Shona Brunan and it is in the main
market near the Nenburgg
uh Christmas market. There's a gold ring
that's embedded in the iron and you can
see on the left there because loads of
people keep climbing it. And apparently
if you spin that ring, it's said to
bring good luck to those who spin it. So
at first I was trying to figure out why
people are climbing up this thing trying
to get in. But can you see the lady in
the um cream hat? Yeah, she's just done
it. So there we go. This is what it is.
>> There's Jass climbing up here.
>> There's a ring that he is.
>> It's not that high. Yeah. There.
>> There we go. Okay. We're about to go
into the frown kirker, which is the
church of
>> Is it Are you sure it's pronounced
frowner?
>> Oh, right. Okay. I was saying frown. I
was saying frowners.
>> Fra. Sorry. Kush.
>> Kers. Okay. P's German's a lot better
than mine.
>> Apparently, if you time it right, you
can watch like a free organ concert.
Yeah.
>> I lost where it landed.
Just leaving our hotel room. We came
back to check in cuz it was 2:30 p.m.
and we were just resting for a bit
because all of our Why's our door not
closing? It's very slow. Um,
>> we're going to go and see Pa's room and
uh left two on three because she's made
a dinner reservation and we thought
because we've all been up since before
3:00 a.m. we thought we'd book dinner
for 5:00 p.m. because we'd be hungry and
tired. Oh, she's a corner room. I think
she's got a much nicer room than us.
Actually, as to be on the same floor and
they said no, there's no more rooms
available. But she's got two windows.
So, that's literally the train station
right next door to our hotel. Hello. Oh
my god,
>> that's much bigger than ours.
>> Ours is so tiny.
>> Oh, thanks.
>> Can you open the window? But they can
see me. Close the window.
>> Oh, do you mind me filming inside your
room? Do you have anything that I can't
show on camera?
>> Yours is about a big room, isn't it?
>> Wow.
>> Okay. Ours is really crappy.
>> Oh, that jumper. I didn't bring mine.
>> We have the same jumper. Oh, I love your
dress. It's very clueless.
This is so cool.
>> You want to live here or you want to?
>> Um, yeah, I'll put it in my
>> So, yeah, this is Priya's room and it is
way bigger than ours. The bed's the same
size and they're both doubles. I like
the little fire thing. It's really cozy.
>> Yeah,
>> it's really cool. We got on the train
for literally 10 minutes and all of a
sudden it is so dark. We're going to
this restaurant called Bodhi. Pria
booked a table here for tonight because
it's closed for the rest of our trip,
i.e. Mondays and Tuesdays. So, it looks
nice, doesn't it?
>> Why the is looking quite fancy?
>> Should be fine.
>> Very grand.
It's a really nice place,
>> isn't it?
>> And we have Priya third wheeling us
right on the end. It's really funny. The
whole place is quite empty, but we got a
table for two with a third person on the
end.
>> I think they might be upstairs cuz
people keep upstairs, but
>> it's like almost every other table here
is empty. They could have just put two
together. It's really
not.
>> It's so weird.
>> The menu here is so good. It's like we
want everything, but we're just going to
get three main dishes to share. Um,
everything is vegan, which makes life so
much easier. So, Jazz is getting the
schnitle, Pria's getting the tempe, and
I'm getting the pand.
>> Our food looks so good. This is I can't
remember.
>> Sorry, Monday. No, it's fine. I don't
remember the name of my dish. Yours is
the tempe rard. Jas is is the schnitzel,
but they ran out of the potato salad, so
they've replaced it with chips or fries.
What's this called? Pandal.
I don't know. Ready to swap, guys. This
is how we're trying all the dishes.
We're literally eating a third each and
then we're swapping like clockwise. It's
so funny. Thank you.
So, now I'm trying the tempe rouard.
That's the final like that one.
>> Yeah, it's the final one. So, I started
off with that one.
>> I end up with more
>> when I had that one and now I've got
this one.
>> That's right.
>> You know how Pria doesn't share dessert.
>> Pria doesn't share dessert. And to be
fair,
>> I'm sorry.
I'll edit.
>> I was thinking that myself.
>> This um looked a lot smaller. When you
Google the menu, um, the image that
comes up didn't look this big.
>> It literally
Yeah, it's huge. It does look like a
boob.
>> A boob swimming in custard.
>> Oh my god.
>> So lovely.
>> It does smell nice.
>> Dinner was really good. And now we've
arrived at the advent calendar house.
I've kind of forgotten what the
significance of this is, but it is so
beautiful around here. And everything
smells of red wine because obviously
glue wine is mold wine. It's very very
festive. But this is actually not the
market. This is where we're on our way
to the market. But we just stopped and
saw this. And this these guys are
walking behind me, so not in shot. But
the Alrea
House is also a museum. Um, this is kind
of on my list, but it said it might be
closed at this time of year. I don't
know if it's open, but we might not go
there today. Might save it for tomorrow.
Good morning. We've had a very nice and
relaxing start morning. 10 hours of
sleep, which is absolutely glorious
needed after 18,000 steps yesterday.
We've just come out for a very late
breakfast. I'm going to show you because
this is massive. They gave me three eggs
to replace the ham that was meant to be
in this croissant sandwich. I can't eat
three eggs. Jess is going to have to
have some. I'm going to flip the camera
around and show you.
>> That's quite nice, actually.
>> So, here's my breakfast. This is huge.
Jas's basically got the same thing but
with ham. And Priya got an ube latte cuz
she's already had cheesecake this
morning for breakfast. I also love that
we're in a um like this restaurant bar
restaurant called Wonder Bar, which has
basically made my life. But here we go.
Today is such a nice day. It's like not
too cold actually and it's dry most
importantly. But we keep walking past
this handwork of off Nerburgg which is
like a little medieval village. It's
really cute in there. We kind of our
hotel's on the other side. So to get
into the old town which is where we are
now. We have to keep walking back back
and forth through it. And here is the
design museum which I don't think we're
going to go into. Doesn't really look as
much in there. It's quite sparse. But
I don't know if we can go into this cuz
you know the um there's a tower on the
other side
for views. But so we've just walked all
the way down there, come back up through
here up to this second floor bridge.
That's the train station which is so
cool. And this is the opera house which
we were trying to photograph. And we'd
read that if you go, so I'm trying not
to make you dizzy, into this restaurant,
which we tried to do thinking it was a
bar. And they're like, "Yeah, you need a
table, um, you can walk in through there
and out to photograph it." But they
don't seem to have a garden area. So,
this is the best that we can do. They
weren't kidding when they said that
Yakob's Market is really small. It looks
really pretty, but the lighting is
obviously not right. Um, but it is very,
very tiny. So, here we are. There's a
ferris wheel here which looks really
beautiful and I love I actually really
prefer the huts here. They're a lot more
decorated but they also look very much
more traditional I think. Really cute.
Um funnily enough we ended up walking
from way over there and Priya thought it
was a really pretty street and I said,
"Oh, this looks a bit like a brothel."
And we looked in the window and yeah,
all of the windows in the street
basically had women in their underwear.
It was like the red light district of
Nerburgg. It was so funny. But anyway,
here we are. Plan for day two is clearly
to get drunk. Priya has a glue wine with
vodka and apple. I have rosé glue wine.
And Jas has eggnog, which honestly,
quite frankly, tastes vile. Like, it's
so strong. It tastes of chemicals. I
don't know how anybody could drink that.
>> There's no wine in it.
>> Oh, there's no wine.
>> You don't like wine?
>> Okay. Yours tastes I don't like vodka. I
don't really like wine either. I can do
hot mold wine. But yeah, Prius is the
nicest. But it's very festive here.
>> We're back at this viewpoint. But today
we're going to stop for a drink. Just
somewhere to sit down cuz we walk around
all day. Pria got a dessert. Surprise,
surprise. What is it called?
>> Streusel
cooking.
>> Strusil Cen. Streusil cake. Cooking's
cake.
>> Cooking cake.
>> Cooking's cake. Yeah. And I think we're
going to get the hot cranberry mule.
just got a German beer, but he's not
very happy with
>> the head.
>> The head of it.
>> They give good head.
>> They give good head apparently in
Germany. So, I wouldn't know. Pria.
I might have showed you this view
yesterday, but I can't remember. Um, but
here we are. It's a lot nicer this
evening because I think it's not fully
dark yet. And actually, that bit's lit
up. There's a stage there. And yesterday
we walked past it in the evening. There
was a performance, but we just missed
it. And today there's one starting at
7:00 p.m. which is in about 3 hours. But
here we are. I think there's a few more
stalls open today as well. Maybe a lot
of them are closed on a Sunday. But it's
very busy here. But here we are.
>> So, a lot of these stalls sell very
similar things, I've noticed, which is a
bit weird because I was expecting it to
sell um like a big variety of things.
So,
>> yeah, the hat store wasn't open
yesterday or unless we just didn't walk
down this section.
I've decided I am going to try a Leb
coo. Oh, that's a different one, isn't
it?
>> Wait, I want this.
>> These are little.
>> I don't even know what it is.
>> Margan brought
it out.
>> I do like the gem spiced biscuits
though. I've had them in little before,
but they're very nice. Oh, these are so
cute.
>> Just get one that we can try. If you
like it, then
>> Okay, I'm going to get a leuchen and
they do pistachio, orange, mold wine,
uh, walnut, salted caramel flavors. Pria
found a vegan one, which is really
exciting.
>> What flavor?
>> I don't know what this is.
>> What flavor is the yellow one? The
yellow one is how do we say
egg?
>> Oh, eggnog. Eggnog. Oh, okay.
>> Should we get pistachio? Do you think
that's pistachio? Go for What flavor did
you go for? The vegan one.
>> What did you
get?
>> Live taste test, guys.
>> Is it good? Okay,
>> I'm going to save mine for a bit later.
>> Nice.
>> Edible wafer.
>> Oh, nice. Sorry, this is a bit slow.
God, what did you say?
>> Edible wafer.
>> Edible wafer.
>> Oh, that's cute. It's like rice pee.
It's like that
>> melts on your tongue thing. Yeah,
>> we bought a pista a pistachio one to
share. But I feel a bit sugared out
after that um hot cranberry mule that we
had. I couldn't finish it. It was far
too sweet. So, I want to I'm on a the
hunt for a vegan sausage but without
like bread. Nice. I think
>> look, she enjoying it.
>> What's inside?
>> Oh, nice. It's got the same like spiced
stuff to the Pria bought some like
gingerbread bites as well as you thought
it was going to be quite small.
>> Yeah, less spice in this one.
>> Oh, nice. I really like the spice like
things that they have here. Priya bought
um a bag of some gingerbread bites that
were vegan and because they were only
€3, she thought the bag would be tiny
and it's huge and she hasn't got a lot
of space in her luggage. So, we all were
forced to eat one and this was really
nice.
>> I'm not normally a sweet person, but
they're not actually sweet, right?
They're not overly sugary.
>> Cookies and Yeah.
>> Yeah. Really nice.
>> Rather than caking.
>> Yeah.
>> So, we found this store that does potato
pancakes. Um, potato.
Okay. Does have any dairy or eggs.
>> J is going to brave that gigantic
sausage in basically half a baguette.
>> Can they do burgers here as well?
Burgers.
>> Burgers.
>> Those are actually onions. They're not
um sauerkraut.
>> Where can you see vegan?
>> Oh.
Oh, okay.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay. So, I got a hot chocolate with rum
and they do oately which was very
exciting. But I'm trying not to spill it
because it is so crowded and she folded
mine quite high at the top. I do need to
drink some. I really like the scuba
diving Santa.
>> Yeah.
>> Polar dash. Is that like Door Dash? You
know, Americans have that instead of
delivery.
>> Oh, yeah. American school bus.
So cool.
>> Looks like the concert is about to
begin. Oh, we've got 10 minutes
actually. There's a cat singers.
>> Oh, get the seats already. No seats, but
there's
>> no seats, but yeah, you have to stand
really
I'm very short before people start.
Okay. The best thing about traveling
with somebody else that doesn't eat meat
is you get to share things.
So, we got a vegan burger from 60s
Smashburger with some vegan bacon that
we added into it. We're cutting the
burger in half just to share it. These
dresses chips as part of his meal deal.
And we got some avocado chili fries,
which is basically fried avocado.
Is it good?
>> Okay. I don't know how I feel about hot
avocado, but I'm willing to give it a
go. I actually had it for the first time
in Kenya on a pizza and it was really
strange. We've now come to um the
rooftop bar in our hotel. We're staying
at a hotel called the Cloud One Newberg.
I'm not sure if I've said this already.
It doesn't say it on here, but the views
from here are stunning. Let me split
this around and show you.
>> Morning. It is our last day in Newberg
today and we're just checking out of the
hotel. Um, we drank far too much glue
wine yesterday, but it was such a fun
day. The bar in the hotel isn't all
that. The service wasn't great, but it
was really, really busy in there. And
we're just going to leave our luggage
with the hotel and then wait for Pria to
come and meet us because we're not
leaving until this evening. We are off
to the Catsson Temple which is a vegan
restaurant but also a cat cafe.
Pra came here yesterday morning um but
she said the food looked good so here we
are
danka.
>> Oh thanks
anyway.
>> We can't see here. Yeah, we can't sit
here.
This table's taken.
You can sit there. Venue is really cool.
It um has cat etiquette on the back. So,
it says to turn off your flash. Stay
clear of the cat doors. Don't feed them.
Don't chase us or pick us up. Um Oh, and
these are the cats. They've got There's
five.
That's actually really cute. Um
there's two that are just blatantly not
interested in us.
>> Oh, the other two over there. Yeah, two
there now. It's good we didn't sit there
and disturb the heat.
>> Yeah, true.
>> So, this is my huge breakfast. It was
much bigger than I thought it was going
to be. And I got a side of kimchi and
scrambled tofu. These guys are going to
have to help me finish it cuz also got
kimchi and a crussled sandwich. And just
breakfast is so piddley. Do you want
some savory first and then you can have
your sweet afterwards? Got
gingerbread cappuccino, gingerbread
latte, and matcha latte. There's a lot
of food.
>> We've just climbed up a massive hill to
come to this panoramic viewpoint on the
way to the castle, which is just behind
me. And the views are stunning. But
obviously the sun is just a little bit
low in the sky right now. So you can
only really see the buildings on this
side where I'm facing the camera. But
that hill was bloody steep and it is
actually so unnaturally warm right now.
It's 13° and we only patched thermals.
But here we are. The grounds are really
beautiful. And actually this is probably
the busiest place that we've been to
outside of the Christmas markets. The
streets here are so dead. It's actually
really nice and peaceful.
>> Our time in Nuremberg has come to an
end. We have to say bye to Pria.
>> Bye-bye.
>> It's been a really fun trip.
>> Thank you. And you.
>> I'm going to miss this.
>> I am too. It was It's been such a nice
like what? Two nights, three nights.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. We've had a really good time. I
think Christmas markets, um, this is
obviously our first time going, are so
much more fun with friends. Would you
not say?
>> Absolutely. I wouldn't want to do a solo
trip.
>> Yeah. And I actually think that if
you're like vegan or vegetarian, go with
someone that eats similar things to you
because then you can just share
everything and try everything. It's been
really good fun. So Priya is now flying
home and J and I have a train booked to
I keep saying Regionsburg. She thinks
it's pronounced Regensburg.
>> Regensburg.
>> Regensburg. We'll find out.
>> Hopefully we'll find out before I start
my new vlog.
>> Completely.
>> It'll be completely different. Um so I
will start a new vlog then. But thank
you so much for watching and we will see
you next time.
>> Bye vlog. Bye.
