At minus 5,000, the comeback on Chanel Butler making her pro debut is plus 1,800 and we are underway. Welcome to LFA number 194. Butler in the Southpaw stance. Mesquite in the conventional. Both ladies, good movement, filling each other out. Beautiful two lands for Butler, another two for Butler. Wow! Absolutely big shots landing for Butler. Now Mesquite pressing her up against the cage wall, but a great start for Butler. Mesquite forcing and rushing for that takedown, has a single leg now. Let's see if Butler can get her back off the cage. Scrawling and defending the takedown and I think that Mesquite has cut open, Gil. Oh yeah, Butler hit her, rocked her, you can see her Mesquite dazed. But she went to close the distance, she's getting it back together. But wow, great takedown defense for Butler. Absolutely, let's see if Chanel Butler can continue to let those fists fly. And there it is, great shot by our crew. Looks like a cut over the, or to the side of the left eye. And Chanel Butler, I don't care about your credentials, let's fight! That's right, right, Butler right here moving very well, controlling the distance, landing one strike and moving, very smart. Here she is again, big moment here, big moment here for Butler and Mesquite. Butler able to fend off the double leg, but now Mesquite working on the single leg takedown. Runs the pipe, gets her down momentarily. Butler still building her base to get up, attacking the Kimura of her own. Mesquite with the wrist though, driving forward, has one hook in. Pressuring Butler against the cage. Very exciting, big drama in the first two minutes here. I mean this is what MMA is all about Gilbert, you never know any given Friday, how about that? Did you say minus 5,000? Yes sir, I did. Holy smokes. Crazy, crazy favorite. But listen, you know Mesquite was talking about, you know, this transition into MMA and she said, you know, I feel like a white belt starting off and learning MMA. Absolutely, and also Mesquite has dealt with adversity before and that's what makes champions, right? You deal with adversity, how you deal with adversity. And here she is fighting for the back, Butler not trying to give up the back here. Big position for Mesquite. Climbing on the back of Chanel Butler and approaching two minutes. She has plenty of time to work from this position. Butler carrying the weight of Mesquite here. Looking to control that right arm of Mesquite as Butler trying to take that choke away. Mesquite going for it though, squeezing hard. Look at this. I'm tucking my chin. And there's the submission. Theo Mesquite, a successful LFA debut. Wow, impressive for Mesquite. And you know what? Growing before her very eyes. Taking adversity within the first minute, within the first 30 seconds and fighting her way back. Shaking it off, licking the blood off her hands afterwards. A la BJ Pan, I love it. I love it too. I think you're spot on, Gil. This is really the first adversity that Mesquite has faced. She ate some shots from Chanel Butler. Yes, she did. It opened her up. Yes. Well, you know what Mesquite did is she was trusting her striking and experimenting out there with her striking. And she got caught in the process, right? It's different boxing and sparring with big gloves. It's different for the first time. Really exchanging hard in the pocket with MMA gloves. You really don't know until you go live. Here's the exchanges. There's the two. That lands. Fast hands. Another two that lands. Two twos land. And Mesquite closing the distance. And Butler doing a good job of defending the first takedowns. But Mesquite with a champion mindset pushes forward. Takes down Butler. Climbs up. Takes the back. Standing rear naked choke. Butler stands. But just a pitbull. Just a lot of dog for Mesquite. Look at that. Wipes the blood off. I love it. And you know what? We had a chance to watch Mackenzie Dern grow. Me personally had the chance to watch Jenna Bishop become a grappler and then become a wall-rounder mixed martial artist. And that's what we get to see with Mesquite. Somewhere BJ Penn is smiling. Beautiful debut for the 33-year-old from Rio de Janeiro, Bia Mesquita. Let's now get the official time. Inside to Mike Kendall. Ladies and gentlemen, your referee Matt Rocca calls a stop to this fight. In three minutes, 24 seconds of the very first round. Declaring your winner by tap out, do the rear naked choke, Bia Mesquita! Arguably the greatest female jiu-jitsu competitor of all time.
