The Scudetto holders against the Cup winners.
Despite the Final Four format, the EA Sports FC Super Cup
has delivered a traditional final match-up.
The two teams that claimed major domestic silverware last season
meet tonight in Riyadh.
It's League champions Napoli against Coppa Italia winners Bologna
with a gleaming trophy on the line at Al Awal Park.
Riyadh awaits to find a winner.
Will it be Napoli? Will it be Bologna?
We'll know over the course of the next 90 minutes.
Penalties if we're level after that.
The Super Cup is about to begin.
The League champions against the Cup winners in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
are underway at Al Awal Park.
One of either Napoli or Bologna will end tonight
lifting the EA Sports FC Super Cup manual Pasquale.
And it should be quite the match. Good evening once again.
Good evening, Patrick. Yes, it's a final.
So we're going to see if Napoli will win it again for the third time
or Bologna will make history again in 2025.
So let's see what's going to happen here.
Hoyland is after this.
Between them, Hegemann and Lukumi dealt with the danger.
Revalia continues between the sticks,
albeit Lukasz Korupski is available this evening.
He's on the bench.
Ordinarily would be first choice, the Bologna goalkeeper,
but he was injured in the league fixture between these two sides.
It was the teenager Massimo Pessina who came on in that game.
Round the corner by Hoyland, unable to link up with Elmas.
Here's David Neres running away from Lukumi.
David Neres tried to square it for Elmas.
Could defend it this time from home,
but Napoli looking dangerous in the early stages.
Politano, Neres with the cross, Lukumi away.
Yeah, terrific defending.
McTominay, lovely ball that.
What a chance here for Elmas, who doesn't hit the target.
Yeah, from that position, at least you have to hit the target.
Hoyland holding it up.
Now it's Neres.
Politano, Di Lorenzo across.
Good defending from Bologna.
They can see the corner.
Elmas coming inside.
Elmas going for goal.
Ravalho got right behind it.
Yeah, he's looking lively, number 20.
Juan Jesus.
Elmas.
Here's Juan Jesus again.
Spinazzola, David Neres, Elmas.
David Neres is turned.
And now McTominay arriving.
Ravalho in the way.
Lobotkin now.
Awkward for Di Lorenzo.
Kambiaghi's won it back.
Orsolini turning away from Juan Jesus.
Orsolini.
Now he finds a teammate.
Kambiaghi can go either way.
Kambiaghi.
Pobega.
This is Holm joining in.
Kambiaghi delivers.
Juan Jesus heads it clear.
Bologna still have it, though.
Pobega now.
Lukumi.
Holm.
In by Pobega.
The goalkeeper comes and claims.
Yeah, if you give all the defenders the time to set,
it's not easy to score, to find somebody unmarked.
Politano.
Neres around the corner.
Nice give-and-go with Hoyland.
David Neres feeding it through.
This is Spinazzola.
And Ferguson clears it off the line.
Wow.
Saved by Ravalho.
Bologna.
Great football again from Napoli.
Long ball forward.
Lukumi had to get that right with Hoyland lurking on the shoulder again.
Yeah, good defending this one.
Lukumi and Egem.
And Lukaku there.
That's David Neres!
It's magnificent!
David Neres lights up the Super Cup final
with a goal out of nothing
to give the champions the lead against Bologna.
Wow.
He was on fire and he is on fire.
Magnificent goal.
A tirragere that we've seen from the other side so many times,
from Insigne.
Now Neres on the score sheet,
breaking the deadlock with an absolute pitch.
David Neres scored the opener here on Thursday
against Milan at that end of the crowd.
David Neres scores the opening goal.
Quick thinking from a throw-in here.
Against Bologna in the Super Cup final.
And just look at the reaction of the Saudi fans.
Yeah, I guess the Italian will be absolutely furious
with these players coming from a throw-in.
I don't know why Neres had so much space to pick the angle.
Then he finds the top corner.
Holmen behind.
Orsolini, chance to deliver.
Orsolini away from Juan Jesus.
It's finally an effort on target from Bologna,
but a simple save from Milinkovic-Savic.
Long by Milinkovic-Savic, headed clear by Holmen.
That should be half-time, and is.
The league champions flexing their muscle this evening in Riyadh.
David Neres once again at Al-Awal Park.
This is a much more challenging finish
than his close-range effort against Milan.
Pinging it into the top corner from 25 yards.
Revalia got a hand to it but couldn't keep it out.
Napoli on top in the opening 45 minutes
and making that dominance pay in terms of the scoreline as well.
Bologna have it all to do.
Half-time score at Al-Awal Park.
Napoli 1, Bologna 0.
Nicola Moro on the way.
So second-half substitution for Bologna.
Jens Odgaard withdrawn,
so we'll get confirmation from Manuel Pascali in due course.
We'll probably see Pobega playing a little bit higher.
Or perhaps Ferguson, we shall see.
Napoli on top in the first half of the EA Sports FC Super Cup
here at Al-Awal Park in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
But Bologna have shown under Vicenzo Italiano
they have plenty of spirit, plenty of fight.
Manuel Pascali, first of all,
what's the reasoning behind the substitution?
Yeah, probably he wants an extra midfielder
in the middle of the park.
Look like now Bologna is shaped like a proper 4-3-3
with Moro as a playmaker and Pobega and Ferguson
like the mezzanine inside the midfield.
Five finals in four seasons, as you can see there,
for Italiano.
Three with Fiorentina.
All of them a losing cause.
Then that cup final win for Bologna against Milan.
David Neres nutmegging Pobega.
Still in the mood, the Brazilian.
This is Elmas.
Napoli in a hurry early on here.
Elmas running to Moro.
Holm nearly gave it away.
Instead he's found Castro.
Rahmani was aggressive.
And it's the same theme that we saw develop
in the opening 45 minutes.
Napoli seemingly quicker to the ball, winning the 50-50s.
Yeah, good job by Rahmani there against Castro.
Elmas down the side for Hoyland.
This is where he hurt Milan in this channel.
Hoyland going for goal.
Ravaglia down to make the save.
Another big Napoli opportunity.
Yeah, you can see the difference now
with all the respect to the Bologna players.
But Neres on one side,
plus Hoyland here are creating all sorts of problems
to Bologna defenders.
This time it's Moro that had to track Hoyland.
This is a good save by Ravaglia.
Two players at the top of their game.
David Neres and Hoyland in by Elmas.
And Ravaglia has to tip it over from Rahmani's header.
Yeah, another good save, this one from Ravaglia.
And again, Napoli are moving the ball from a corner kick.
Kambiaghi, good looking cross.
Orsolini beaten to it by Juan Jesus.
Back in by Holm.
And Ferguson got underneath it.
Rahmani.
Politano's ball round the corner.
Hoyland's in pursuit.
Hoyland shifting it.
But he couldn't send it past Ravaglia.
Both teams do have players
that can change the game off the bench.
Orsolini is being pulled down.
He still kept the ball.
Orsolini with the ball in.
And Ferguson heads it straight to the keeper.
Brilliant by Orsolini.
Beating Juan Jesus.
Too strong here.
Bologna's keeper knows exactly that he had the chance.
Lukumi.
Risky ball from Miranda.
Hegem kept his cool.
Lukumi under pressure.
David Neres for McTominay.
Surely he didn't need him.
Neres gets another one.
Bologna have imploded here.
It's a gift for the Brazilian.
And that's now three goals in two Super Cup games.
For Super, David Neres.
Yeah, goal missed by Ferguson.
But the Brazilian doesn't miss.
Big present for Christmas for Napoli.
But that man from that distance, he doesn't miss.
He picked the right option.
Dink the goalie.
And finds his brace after 56 minutes.
It's been a bit of a horror show from Hegem tonight.
Then again, Hoyland to Neres.
Embarrassed Kony De Winter on Thursday.
Hegem seemed to have dealt with the danger here
when he played it back to Ravaglia.
But then after that, Lukumi was really struggling
from Ravaglia's ball out.
Neres not only intercepted it, he just used McTominay as a decoy.
Yeah, I think Hegem did very well to control that dangerous ball.
But then Ravaglia played an hospital pass towards Lukumi
who probably didn't realise he had Neres' favourite window.
Miranda delivers.
Spinazzola away.
David Neres is after it.
He's got Hoyland in support.
Neres.
And Hoyland sprints in pursuit.
1v1 with Moro now.
Hoyland.
He's got Neres on a hat-trick.
But he couldn't quite find him.
Still there for Napoli.
Back in by Neres.
Ferguson away.
That would have killed off the game and the cup final.
Yeah, I'm telling you, Patrick.
They love to play each other.
Brilliant by Malinkowski.
Because you can see they're looking for each other
every time they've got the ball.
Through it goes from Elmas.
Hoyland.
Wild.
Given away here to Rasmus Hoyland.
Still there for Noah Lang.
Hoyland could have given it to Lang.
He wanted to score himself.
And a chance goes begging this time for Napoli.
Yeah, correct.
Striker instinct.
He went by himself after serving Neres in the first.
Holm has found Castro.
It's a good ball.
And Argentine holds it up.
He's got a strike partner now with Dalinga on the pitch.
Holm.
Moro.
In by Miranda.
Di Lorenzo didn't hear the call in time to let it run for his goalkeeper.
Hoyland using his strength.
Look whom he played the ball.
But this is David Neres.
Politano.
Still Politano.
That would have been some goal.
Yeah.
Jonathan Rowe.
Rowe's ball in.
That could have gone anywhere.
Bologna claiming a corner.
Yeah, I think it's a corner.
Decent ball from Rowe.
Jonathan Rowe shifting it.
Still Rowe.
Did well to open up the angle.
Yeah, brilliant effort.
Switching it for Orsolini.
Lovely first touches ever.
Orsolini.
Holm delivers.
Came off McTominay.
Castro.
For Jonathan Rowe.
Again he's got it all wrong.
Yeah.
Second time.
A year.
The Italian legend.
Robbie Bancho had one season with Bologna.
Ballon d'Or winner in 1993.
Politano with the ball in.
McTominay round the back.
We've seen that before for Scotland.
This time it was a scissor kick.
And it nearly became an assist.
Jonathan Rowe.
That'll be a yellow card for Politano.
Hoyland.
He can release Gutierrez.
Decided against it.
Hoyland does now deliver.
Up in the air by Hegum.
This time he's got it away.
Noah Lang.
Eluding Dominguez.
Buongiorno.
Napoli now toying with Bologna.
McTominay between the lines.
Here's Gutierrez.
His ball across.
And somehow it's off target from Politano.
Immobile.
Miranda.
This is Moro.
Worth a go.
Nicola Moro.
Over the top.
Mazzocchi.
Long by Rahmani.
Look at the time and space for Politano.
They can easily score a third here.
Napoli.
Politano.
And now Noah Lang went near post.
Could have squared it.
Yeah, there were plenty of players in the middle of the box.
It's Napoli's night in Riyadh.
Aurelio De Laurentiis and Antonio Conte celebrate more silverware.
David Neres, the hero of the occasion at Al Awal Park.
Bologna beaten by a goal in each half.
And it's the league champions who get the better of the cup winners.
Napoli superior tonight in Saudi Arabia.
And 11 years to the day when they defeated Juventus in Doha.
So they beat Bologna in Riyadh for their third ever Super Cup triumph.
It ends here at Al Awal Park.
Napoli 2, Bologna 0.
And Napoli win the EA Sports FC Super Cup.
There's just one thing left to say on this evening in December in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
After a 2-0 victory over Bologna,
the winners of the EA Sports FC Super Cup are Napoli.
Partenope will enjoy the evening here at Al Awal Park.
And will leave you to enjoy their celebrations here in Riyadh.
That's all from me, Patrick Kendrick, alongside Manuel Pascali.
We'll leave you with the final score, Napoli 2, Bologna 0.
And a reminder, Napoli are the winners of the Super Cup.
