What's up you guys, it's Gracie Kramer. Welcome back to my channel. Today, we're with Dani
and she's an Olympic artistic swimmer. Today, we are going to be learning artistic swimming.
What is that? What are we going to be today? It used to be called synchronized swimming,
but now it's called artistic swimming and you're going to be so good at it, I promise you. I was
wondering that because I was like, isn't this synchronized swimming and then why'd they change
I think it was just like rebranding, trying to get away from like Esther Williams type of thing.
So trying to make it less of like movie star stuff and more like this is a sport,
artistic gymnastics. Okay, cool. Oh, I love that actually. I never even thought about it like that.
How long is this routine that you guys do? The longest one is three minutes and a half,
almost four minutes. I know. Two thirds underwater, but don't worry, you're not doing that today. Okay.
If you were to like just sit at the bottom of the pool, how long can you hold your breath? Like
probably close to four minutes somewhere on there. If you guys didn't already see me trying
high diving, y'all already know I'm not a big water girlie, but we're going to try our best.
There's some flips involved. Okay, cool. Now you're speaking my language. Let's get started.
Are you ready?
Uh, yeah.
Oh my god. I was not ready for that. That'll wake you up in the morning. Also the pool is not 80
degrees. I know. It said it was out there. Liars. They lied. I feel like a baby in those like
little baby glasses. Holy ----. Wow. You actually are holding me up. What? How did you do that?
Oh my god. I'm so impressed. Quick hair break. Y'all already know the vibes. We got to put the
hair up in the bun. Also, I need to put in your video that always goes viral of you taking out
the locks. Oh yeah, yeah. Okay, that's the biggest thing about artistic swimming is like the, the,
the socks. Nox gelatin. Nox what? Nox gelatin. It's the same thing you use to make jello,
like literal jello, like the jiggly stuff, but you make it really thick and then you just comb it in
and then it dries like rock hard. I thought it was like that got to be glue stuff, like just
hair gel. You could eat it. Does that make it better or worse? That makes it worse. Okay,
how's the hair? It looks amazing. Are we looking the part? Yeah, looking the part. Oh actually,
yes. Okay. Okay, what are we doing first? Um, let's start with the upright stuff just because
it's probably going to be more familiar to you. Okay. So can you tread water? I can try.
Treading water or egg beater is like water polo. So like if you look at my legs, I'm doing circles.
So like you just get to like increase pressure and then you can put like more arms up. You can
go like super high. You literally look like AI. Like that is so trippy. And then you would be
like here and then you go like, that's it. The power. A lot of polo players know what I'm
talking about. Yeah. Oh, but we do that too, but we're not allowed to be forward. We have to be
like upright and like, because it's an art. It's a dance. Oh, she's so beautiful. Okay, I'm gonna
try. One circle in. Do you go outwards? No, in. So like it's called egg beater because like,
you know, like the thing that you use to beat eggs? Yeah. Yeah, that's pretty cool. Really?
Yeah. It's so awkward. Oh my God. Try to lean forward a little bit and then. Okay, wait. I
feel like my left leg is like Nemo. So like my left is not good. This leg goes in and then this
leg goes in. Okay. Yeah, that's good. Oh, I'm gonna be so effing sore. I already know. Oh,
okay. Now we're going to try and put an arm up. Oh sister. So you're treading. Okay. Yeah. As
one does. And just put one arm up. Yeah. That's not even bad. That's not even bad. Okay, let's
take a break. Never let go, Jack. Are you tired? No, I'm okay. Okay, good. Thankfully I do spin
class. Let's do a jump. Okay. So the same thing, like I showed you, you're starting treading
this way and you just use both arms of both. Have you ever done like one of these,
like where you're like. Kind of. Sure. Like frog. Like a froggy reverse frog. Yes. Okay. But now
you're just going to put the frog foot, put it up. Okay. Okay. Okay. We're jumping like gymnastics,
but in water. Sorry. No floors. No floors. No springs. No. Yeah. Really? Try and like,
you know, it's like a spring. You have to get really small and then get big. Okay. So try and
get your legs as high as you can. Oh yeah. That was a little bit higher. Okay. Before and after.
Okay. One more time. Okay. I'll jump behind you. How did you even get into this? My grandma did
it. My mom did it and my sister did it. Oh my God. That's so cool. Yeah. You come from a family
of artistic swimming. Yeah. And my dad was a diver and my brother did swimming, normal swimming.
So you guys are all just fish essentially. Yeah. Got it. Our house smells a little bit like chlorine.
That's not super common. And normally actually the older generation knows more about it and
they'll be like, Oh, you should go try it. Yeah. It is a very traditional sport. When you think
of like synchronized swimming, it was like the OGs, like the flower caps. We don't wear those
anymore. No. These don't. No. And the sideways dives, they need to stop. Stop sideways diving.
This is a message. Wait, so you're telling me we're not going to recreate the high school musical
scene? No. Oh, okay. That is disrespectful to the Lord. What's next? We did upright stuff and that
can be a lot of things, but that's a lot more simple. So let's go to the stuff that you're
probably going to be a little bit more scared about and let's try and go upside down.
Okay. So maybe as a first part, we're going to do what's called a tabletop.
So you're just upside down. Your legs are on the surface and you're just chilling upside down.
Okay. I don't even know how to float. So this will be fun. I'll just show you what a tabletop is.
What? What do you mean? What do you mean? Chilling upside down like a bat hang.
Also, did you guys see her toe point? Are you kidding? My toe point could never. Oh my God,
my toes could never. I'm not going to out myself because I'm a gymnast, but mine's really bad.
Ready? Set.
Oh my God. A little bit more calm. Just breathe out slow. That way you have more time underwater.
Normally we wear a nose plug plug, but I don't have one because I don't use one.
I like that. Okay. I need to do that because I got water up my nose.
Yeah. I'll help you into fully inverted. Okay.
Oh my God. Okay. Very good job. Period. That was freaking scary.
See, this is why I think that trying artistic swimming is so much better than just looking at
it because you think like, oh, I could do this. Well, maybe not. Nobody thinks they can do this,
but you think like, oh, I can do that. Maybe, but you can't. I promise. Oh, it's so hard.
You think that you're upside down and then she just takes you one step further. You're like,
holy ----, I'm already dying. And we're literally like 10 minutes in.
This is so hard. I feel like too, this is one of those things where you can't train for it
really truly unless you do it. The second you're in the water, it's like a whole different beast.
And also if you have too much muscle, you're going to sink. Oh, so she's saying I'm fit.
You think you got it? Nope. You totally got this. Okay. So basically think of it like
a handstand in your hand. Yeah. Okay. I'll go with you. Okay. Three, two.
Crap. Does she keep her knees above the water? Wait, that was so good. What? Yes.
No, you were perfect. You were in a perfect position. Okay. So this is the basis for
everything we're going to do. So now we're putting a leg up. Okay. I'll hold your leg.
Period. What do you mean? How did you do that? She's a magician. Okay. You got this. Okay.
Okay. This one might be the worst. Oh my God. Okay. I'm going to hold your legs so
you can feel what it's like. Okay. Okay. Here, grab my arm. Okay. Yay.
I feel like a little kid in swimming class and that was really hard. I know. Let's do it again.
I'm going to hold your leg. Okay. So you can feel what it's like to be fully inverted.
I'm out of water in my ears right now. Criminal. You got this. Thanks, queen. You got it.
Oh my God. Okay. Wait, let's try that again. The second I go underwater,
my brain just turns off. Survival. You can do this. Okay. Afterwards, go forwards. You did
the arch thing again. And I kicked you in the head. I think that's pretty close. That's really
good for trying for the first day. Okay. Instead of going two legs, because I think that might be
a little bit too much of a challenge, I think we're going to do just laying on your back and
try and get everything dry. Oh my God. So like floating, but your arms are going to be doing this
tiny little skull. Okay. On your back.
Squeeze your butt. Put those legs up. Period.
Oh my God. You know that like hollow body position that you do a lot in gymnastics? Yeah. You have
to do that. That way your feet, like if you arch, your feet are going to go down.
That way. Yep. Okay. Smaller, smaller, smaller, smaller. Like that? And under your butt.
Under your butt, under your butt, under your butt. Oh, she's too big.
How do you go under your butt? You have to go like right underneath your butt.
What do you call that? Sculling? Sculling. Nice. Okay. Okay. Next challenge.
So like all of the other challenges, now we're just adding weight. Perfect. Here,
you're going to raise one leg up. What do you mean? One leg up. Add the weight and put a leg up.
Here, try and leverage. Try and leverage off of me. I'm going to hold your feet. Okay.
Both feet. Sculling. Yes. That was so good. Period. I started drowning. It's so good. Okay.
Okay. By the leg? Yeah. Two. Let's see it. So you go from one,
you take this one in, and you have two. Oh yeah. It's super easy. Totally. I can do that. No
problem. I'm going to go to the hospital. Look at that. No, you'll be fine. I got you. I'm certified
lifeguard. Here? Yeah. One leg up. A little bit more up. And now two. Two. What? Yeah. Wow. I
thought I had core. Clearly not. Who comes up with this ----? I know. I say the same thing every
day when we have a workout. I'm like, who made this up? What the heck? You got this.
Over here. One leg. How do you keep your head above water? You got it. I got it. You got it.
All core. All core. Very good job. She made it to the position. It didn't stay up, but it was
really good. Yeah, I was just waterboarding myself, but still did it. Now we're going to
do what's called a pair lift. Okay. So this is where you get to flip. Okay. So you're going,
I can't demo this because it's just me, but you're going to step on my shoulder and just flip. Oh,
fun. So it's kind of like a back dive. If you could do a full flip, that'd be cool,
but I don't think we'll be able to do that today. Okay. I mean, if we did do a full flip,
what? Okay. Let's try this. The shoulder one shoulder and I'll go five, six, seven, eight.
Okay. But I'm underwater. So are you going to hear me? I'm just going to go like this.
That's it. That's why you, that way, you know, when I'm going here,
come out here. Yeah.
Let's do a real jump. Okay. Even bigger jump. Okay.
Heck yeah. Was that better? Yeah. Yay. I would like to remind everyone that I don't touch the
bottom. This is all me. Oh my God. What? Yeah. I thought you were like pushing off the bottom.
No, I'm using the bottom. It's like disqualification. Like you can't do,
depending on how much you touch the bottom. Like if you kind of tap it a little bit,
it's like a deduction, but if you use it for something, you can also try it backwards.
I got it. Don't worry. I'm literally not even swimming. She won't drown.
The amount of chlorine that is in my body right now. Girl, I've been here since seven o'clock.
Yeah. She said she had training before this. Yeah. I had training from seven until two o'clock. And
then from two to three, I'm with you. And then she's going to try gymnastics. Hello? She is
training for the LA Olympics. So a girl's got to train. Yeah. Olympics number two. You're a legend.
I'm learning from the best. I know. You did so good today. Thank you. I'm exhausted. So good.
I died. It was so good. That was a hundred times harder than I expected. Yeah. You guys make it
look so easy and so beautiful and graceful that you're just like, no sweat, just egg beatering
underwater while your whole body's like still. I mean, yeah, that's the point is to make it look
easy. Just like you guys in gymnastics, just make it look easy. And then you're on the side,
like, oh my God, I'm gonna throw up. Oh my God, I'm gonna throw up. No, literally. Like I, you
just see like a singular tear on your face, but you still look gorgeous. Yeah. I feel like it was
definitely probably one of the hardest things I've tried so far in the sports swap series,
but it was so fun. You're such a good teacher. You're so nice. I probably did so bad. And she's
like amazing. No, I'm so proud of you. It's so good. I think this sport is not something that
you can like brute force your way into. Like you really have to learn it, take like really small,
tiny baby steps to get anywhere. Um, which is why it's very rewarding when you get something,
but also super frustrating because when you can't get it and you're just sitting there drowning,
like, oh my gosh, I can't do this. It's hard, but I'm like, how often do you crash out on a
every day at around 12 o'clock right before break? You're like, I don't want to do this
anymore. But then you have an orange and a cheese stick and you're like, okay,
there we go. I guess it's fine. All right, you guys, thank you so much for watching.
Be sure to subscribe and also follow Danny on everything. She posts awesome content. I am just
so grateful that we got to come into the pool, but also stay tuned because we're going to be
taking her into the gymnastics gym. It's a sports swap. Y'all already know the deal. We're going to
see what she can do in the gym. Oh yeah. Love you guys. And I'll see you next time. See ya.
