Chang'e flying to the moon.
In ancient times, there existed a valiant archer named Houyi.
He shot down nine out of the ten suns that were scorching the earth, thus saving humanity from a terrible fate.
As a reward, the Queen of Heaven bestowed upon him an elixir of immortality.
Houyi was hesitant to consume the elixir, so he gave it to his wife Chang'e for safekeeping.
One day, a wicked man named Feng Meng attempted to steal the elixir.
In a moment of desperation, Chang'e swallowed the potion.
Instantly, she felt her body becoming as light as a cloud, and she soared up into the night sky, finally landing on the moon.
Houyi was heartbroken.
Every night, he would gaze at the moon, yearning to be reunited with his beloved wife.
The gods were moved by his deep sorrow.
They transformed a rabbit into a companion for Chang'e and created a palace made of jade for her on the moon.
To this very day, during the mid-autumn festival, families gather to admire the full moon and eat mooncakes, which symbolize reunion.
