Oh grizzly bear habitat make noise the next 500 meters.
This is insanely steep.
Okay goal member.
Oh grizzly bear habitat make noise the next 500 meters.
How do you feel about it?
I'm game.
Yeah?
Oh yeah.
I don't think we have a choice now.
Is it so if you wrestle the bear you get more grip?
Sure.
I think if we see a bear he's gonna kick my ass.
I am pretty confident about it yeah.
My plan is to not stop.
Upper goal member.
So the trail association by the way there's a link in the description
told us that this is one of the trails to check out.
So Matt is making noise obviously for the bear.
I've got the bear spray in my backpack.
But obviously we're riding a bit nervous.
All right.
Let's do it.
Upper goal member.
So the trail association told us this is one of the trails we want to hit.
And by the way there is a link into my description if you come to Nelson
you can get a membership.
Yeah buddy.
Oh it's fun.
I had such a blast last year in Nelson
and there's so much more we're gonna check on this trip.
So nice.
Okay another sign that says bear in the area.
Wow that was loose.
Unreal.
How good was that?
Man that was way more than I was expecting holy.
So similar area to Powerslaves that I rode last year but this is way steeper.
Yeah way way steeper than I was expecting.
Biking.
Okay.
Back in the forest.
Bear!
So we have to make some noise just to make sure that we don't surprise a bear.
Definitely riding extra nervous because of that.
Hopefully Matt is loud enough with his Australian accent.
The fear of the bear definitely adds a bit of a spice.
Lucky charms.
So once again we have not ridden this trail.
I've also not made a research on trail forks so I don't really know what to expect.
No I thought we were coming down.
So I have not made any research on trail forks.
I don't know what this trail looks like.
That dirt is so good.
Oh that's cool.
Nice.
How's the fun section?
Ah it's sick.
So many lines.
Yeah.
Props to all the trail builders of Nelson because I'll be absolutely terrified to be here
with the wildlife.
And I can tell that Matt is loving it because he's riding quick.
Ah so good.
It's amazing.
Another grizzly bear sign.
If you have an insane story of a grizzly bear encounter,
please leave me a comment.
Kind of curious to hear.
Or maybe he's not alive anymore so you can't tell.
Nice.
There was a red tape down here.
Hopefully it was not to close the trail because of grizzly bear activity.
Yeah that would be scary.
Gold rush.
Grizzly bears use these trails.
Awesome.
So every time you pass a sign like this it tells you to make some noise
because most likely there is a grizzly bear habitat close by.
You know I'm not surprised that there is grizzly bear around because
people build them like nice trails, nice bridges, making their life easier.
Okay top of gold rush.
There's a bit of a hike but we've got a super nice view on the lake.
A bit of tech here and we drop in.
So you can actually bypass this climb which is probably why the trail is less ridden.
Look ahead Matt, look ahead.
Actually Matt's got a really really good riding technique.
He stands really tall on his bike which normally allows you to look ahead.
Oh wow.
That's so fun.
A bit janky but okay.
We still have a long ways to go.
Oh sick.
Wow.
Dude that was incredible.
Oh sick.
Man I didn't even really know where I was going.
I just kind of picked a line and they were everywhere.
Yeah.
There were so many options.
Oh can't see anything behind.
Maybe it used to be the whole trail.
Yeah maybe in the tree.
You know what?
Suck my dust a little bit.
I want to see a little bit where I'm going.
Yeah.
How are you?
Found a grizzly bear here.
I was riding super tense.
Honestly.
That was good?
That was an unbelievable lap.
That was awesome.
It's definitely the same style of forest but it's quite steeper and gnarlier than Power Slave.
Yeah.
This was sick.
So one of the good things about Nelson is if you don't like pedaling like me
there is some great shuttle roads.
Okay have a good one.
See ya.
Gold member.
Okay.
So I think that's a double black trail according to the trail association.
So the black that we just rode earlier was really steep.
So this one might be very very steep.
Oh there's some tape.
I wonder if they had a race on it.
Oh is there tape from a race?
Oh it's a crime scene from a grizzly bear attack.
That bike I'm riding that propane spin drift is a pretty perfect bike for Nelson.
Just because we do a lot of shuttling out here but still some pedal.
That's so sick.
Racing down that gnarly.
Dude.
What the hell?
It just doesn't stop.
I know.
You know what it's so steep I'm gonna run my brakes a little bit higher
so I can rest my wrist a little bit more on the bar and hopefully get a bit less hand pump.
So often I get asked why I don't have the one-up tool
and that's because I have a tool right here on my bottle cage.
Okay let's do rock paper scissors.
Yeah.
If I win we go left.
Yeah.
If you win.
We go right.
Okay.
Rock paper scissors.
Okay let's go left.
I really wanted to go left.
Okay so left side.
Oh my god.
So good.
Oh my god.
That's amazing.
Oh yeah.
So good.
Are my forearms ready?
Oh this is epic.
Oh no way.
Oh my god.
Dude.
What the hell?
I can't believe it.
That was insane.
Oh my god.
Okay.
So we're skipping that drop.
Nice.
Oh yeah that's cool.
So I assume that's SMD.
Is that SFD?
No.
Let's uh let's check Trailforks.
So making our way towards SFD.
Okay onto SFD.
So this is actually a pro line.
According to the image I've seen on Trailforks,
it's just a super steep chute.
Maybe that means super freaking direct.
Okay with the dust it's gonna be impossible for me to see.
So I'm gonna let Matt go.
Yeah I'm gonna have to wait a little bit.
Okay let's see that second part.
Hey this looks insane.
This is insanely steep.
Okay my turn.
Slow and controlled.
That's unreal.
I could have gone much faster but I played it safe.
Oh my god.
Nice.
Thanks everyone for watching that video.
Sorry it's tourism.
