Hello everyone I'm your Korean
teacher Heiley Welcome today's lesson
Today we're going to learn the four basic Korean vowels
ㅏ ㅓ ㅗ and ㅜ
These vowels are the building blocks of almost every word in Korean
So understanding them is really important I
know you might find them a little tricky at
first but don't worry We're going to have fun
learning these sounds together Are you ready
Let's start with ㅏ This is a
simple and important vowel The
mouth shape for ㅏ is very open
Kind of like you are saying ㅏ ㅏ
You open your mouth wide vertically
Like this
It's similar to the "ah" sound in English
Like in the words father or car
Try saying that with me
Now let's practice with some words that use ㅏ
I'll say them and you repeat after me
It means "dead" in Korean
And the next one
It's apple in Korean
Next
It means country
Next one
It means "sea" in Korean
Great job
Keep practicing that mouth shape
Now let's move on to the next vowel
Next up is ㅓ This sounds a
little different The mouth shape
for ㅓ is slightly open With the
corners of your mouth lowered

Let's move on to "O"
For this one we round our lips
Like we're saying

Meat in Korean is "bulgogi" or "samgyeopsal " depending on the type
And cumber in Korean is "kimchi" (but note that "kimchi" refers to a fermented vegetable dish not specifically cumber)
And hat in Korean it's
Finally we have ㅜ This vowel is
similar to ㅗ But you need to
round your lips more and
push them forward Like you're saying
It's like the "oo" sound in English as in moon or blue
Let's say it together
